As general contractor for Vanishing Ranch’s new lodge, Natalie Whitehurst fights to keep her late husband’s business alive and regain her life after his death. When her remote jobsite is compromised, her survival instincts kick in.
Natalie suspects her mysterious new crewmember, Joshua Madden, is keeping secrets, especially since her troubles started around the time he arrived. But when the sabotage escalates from threatening to deadly, she learns there’s more to Joshua than his résumé shows.
With danger closing in, the two are forced to join forces to uncover the person behind the perilous incidents haunting them. Will Natalie and Joshua find their narrow escape? Or will the fate of the lodge be nailed shut before it has a chance to open its doors?
Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.
Another great story in this series! But with a different twist in the main characters aren't employees of Vanish Ranch, they are building a new lodge for the Vanishing Ranch.
Natalie is the crew chief and Joshua is a new member of the crew. They don't trust each other, but soon find they have no choice.
The action was really good in this one as well as the mystery behind what was going on. The chemistry between Natalie and Joshua was entertaining as they navigated their feelings and the danger they were in.
This has been a great series but it looks like Barritt will be wrapping it up in the next book. I'm looking forward to how all the pieces come together and what happens next for the folks at Vanishing Ranch.
Disclaimer: I did receive this book from the author, but was under no obligation to provide a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Trying to keep her husband's business afloat after his death, and build a new life for herself, Natalie takes on a job building a lodge for Vanishing Ranch. It's difficult enough sometimes to prove she is up to being the boss with a crew of men, but when it seems that someone is out to stop the lodge from being built, Natalie doesn't know who she can trust. Everyone is under suspicion, especially Joshua, who seems very secretive. Joshua himself has trust issues and a reason for being there that he doesn't want anyone to discover, but when several serious "accidents" occur, Natalie and Joshua have to work together to find the culprit. This book kept me guessing and I did not figure out "whodunit" before the person was revealed.
I tell you what I think, I started reading this book at 6:00 pm and at 1:00 am I finished it. I couldn’t put it down. Joshua and Natalie story was fast paced and gripped me from beginning to end. This is one of my favorites in this series. I loved the interaction of the characters and how they all fit perfectly in this story. I highly recommend this book and the rest in the series. I can’t hardly wait for Charlie’s story. But I tell you what I will do when it comes out, I will wait till the weekend to read it. I am 72 years old and still work 40 to 45 hours a week, so staying up till 1:00 am is rough on an old lady
Troubling events continue around Vanishing Ranch in remote Arizona. Natalie Whitehurst is overseeing the construction of a new lodge for troubled women, but obstructions hinder its progress then escalate to threaten lives. This exciting, fast-paced suspense will grab you and keep your attention throughout the intriguing tale. The novel can stand alone, but the background of the other books in this series increases the reading experience. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
I had an ARC for this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Natalie Whitehurst is the owner of the construction company building the new lodge for the Vanishing Ranch. When “accidents” begin happening on the work site, she begins to wonder what is happening. New employee Joshua Madden comes to her rescue and helps her try to determine what is happening. He has his own secrets and personal reasons for working the job. You never know where things will lead, and what will happen next in this fast moving story. A great read!
As with most books in the Christian Suspense Romance genre, the story is a bit formulaic. But like a good Hallmark romance movie, the books in this series are light, fun reads with some unexpected twists and decent character development. Christy Barritt does a good job of driving the plot forward through action, suspense, and a variety of circumstances without sacrificing the underlying romance. I enjoyed Narrow Escape and recommend it for readers looking for clean, contemporary romance suspense with Christian themes.
This book takes the reader back to Vanishing Ranch and trouble seems to be visiting again. Even though this is part of a series, it is a stand alone read. But be warned, once you "visit" Vanishing Ranch, you will want to read all of the books. Lots of action, questions of whom you can trust, and characters that you want to learn more about are all parts of this latest suspense book from Christy Barritt. I received an advance copy from the author but all opinions are my own.
Christy Barritt's Vanishing Ranch series has featured some awesome characters in this 9th installment, Natalie is a contractor working on the new housing lodge for the ranch, and Joshus has been hired with ulterior motives. The cartel finds Joshua, who had been an undercover agent and had let one of their most valuable captives free. This made him a target. Joshua & Natalie are forced to trust each other in order to escape a dire dilemma.
Bella was try to get to the ranch for safety reason, but had been kidnapped by a gang. Natalie had stepped into her husband’s shoes after he died from cancer, to finish the project in Mexico. Then mysterious things including sabotage started happening. You absolutely cannot put the down in til the very end.
Evil of the world never rests, it tears at peoples lives and torments the innocent. This series has taken us into a world many can't even imagine. Your worst nightmare, to have a family member vanish and sold into the unimaginable. Charlie is saving one person at a time, is she getting closer to saving herself?
Impossible deadly situations or so it seems that will keep you reading to the very end. A former soldier turned ICE agent is trying to find his cousin who has gone missing. The cartel was disbanded but there are rumors it is rebuilding. Danger awaits!
This is an exciting book full suspense, danger and a little romance. Natalie is the contractor for the ranch’s new lodge but the job is interrupted by sabotage. Joshua is a recent hire for the project. He also seems to be keeping secrets. Will they be able to escape when the sabotage turns deadly?
Neither Natalie nor Joshua know whom to trust in this story. They both have secrets so trusting each other is the first hurdle to overcome. Then who is trying to sabotage the lodge construction? This is another thrilling ride Ms. Barritt has created. I enjoy her writing because I never know what is coming next but I love the journey.
I have read five of this series (not in order) and I want to go back and read the ones I missed. These are really good stories of rescuing women and men from bad home situations. Giving them a new start in a new life. The continuing characters at the Vanishing Ranch are Charlie and her crew. New people come in to help and stay to help in this mission.
My thoughts: NARROW ESCAPE is a fast paced romantic suspense set on Vanishing Ranch. Someone is sabotaging the construction site, but who and why? Both Natalie and Joshua have enemies in the area. The book starts with a bang and doesn't slow up. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own.
I love this whole series, I don't know what I will do when it is done The characters are so real, down to earth, and straightforward, I love the characters and the way the whole Lantern series intertwine and become a part of each other's lives I am a suspense/mystery type so Christy keep on writing and I will keep on reading
I love this series because of the social justice and human rights aspects that are talked about along side the interesting characters and action. I can't wait to read more!
As all of Christy Barritt's books it was an awesome read. It's was another adventurous book in the Vanishing Ranch series. Can't wait for the next one in this awesome series.
Another brilliant drama filled romantic suspense adventure from this author. As ever, you get sucked in from beginning to end trying to figure who the bad guys and good guys are.
It's twisty and captivating for fans of clean and intelligent suspense. Narrow Escape is the perfect setup for the next edition of the Vanishing Ranch series.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
It is so amazing how Christy Barritt can continually create so many diverse but intense and intriguing stories. As always, I stayed up way too late to finish this book!
Once again Christy Barritt has delivered. This series has been amazing. Each book has had its own story line different from the other books yet all with the the link back to Charlie at Vanishing Ranch. I can't wait to read Charlie's story
I enjoyed reading this story about a woman contractor building a future home for abused men and women. A cartel of human traffickers tries to stop it from being completed. This is an engaging series and I look forward to reading more.
This is another great adventure at the Vanishing Ranch. Nathalie has contracted to build a lodge for the ranch. Little does she know the trouble that is connected to her new employee.
Christy Barritt has written a story everyone can enjoy. This book is a great stand alone or as part of the series. Shows the need for those who need rescuing and the hope it can provide. Who knew building a hope house could be so dangerous!
Could not put it down. Read in one day. I have enjoyed all the Vanishing Ranch stories, even though I get anxiety trying to get to the end to make sure the good guys survive!
