From the author of Deep Woods comes a scorching, standalone romantic suspense to cozy up with. He’s a gorgeous former military badass who sleeps with every woman he sees. She’s his best friend’s book-loving little sister and strictly forbidden. When the pair journey deep into the frozen wilderness to rescue her brother, will anything remain off limits?

I love my life. Each day, I kick ass as part of a private security team. Each night I hook up with a new woman who melts for my British accent. Relationships? I don’t do relationships.

Until I meet Erin, a shy tech genius with a serious book habit. We’re complete opposites but when I look down into those pale blue eyes, I’m smitten. Then the bomb Erin’s big brother is JD, my team leader and closest friend. JD knows I’m Mr. One Night Stand and makes me promise to stay away from his sister. If I sleep with her, I’ll lose my best friend forever.

But while on a mission in Europe, JD is captured. And the only person with the tech skills to get him out is Erin. Letting her come on a dangerous rescue mission goes against all my protective instincts. But she’s determined to help and I can’t let JD die.

To save him, Erin and I must head deep into the Siberian wilderness. To survive the freezing temperatures and wild animals, we have to stay close. But the closer we get, the more I want to pull her to me and tear her clothes off. Neither of us can resist and, for the first time, I want something permanent, something real.

How do I choose between the woman I’ve fallen for and the best friend who means everything to me? Our secret threatens to tear the team apart just as we need to work together. We’ve stumbled onto something terrifying and unless we can solve a decades-old mystery, none of us are coming home.

Standalone romantic suspense with no cheating and guaranteed HEA

Though this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I was part way through when I had previously read previous books on some of the characters and while reading this one, picked up a couple more because I love her writing and I’d forgotten how much. The series is about a select group of men that go on missions regular military groups can’t carry out because of possible repercussions with various countries.

Danny is a member of this team. He is a serious player and has quite the reputation with the other team members over the number of his conquests. It isn’t so much that he doesn’t want a special woman, it’s that he feels to broken because of his growing up, to be able to love one. But then he meets Erin when he comes to his rescue when she is being robbed. He is enchanted with her. She’s geeky and shy and awkward, wears glasses and just feels out of place in general amongst other people. But she feels safe and really seen and understood by Danny.

But before anything can happen between them, they face a major hurdle, something that will end any chance of a relationship. She is younger sister to JD, her older brother and Danny’s best friend. JD is well aware of Danny’s relationship with women and would never believe Danny could truly love a woman. JD suffered a devastating loss in his past and neither Erin or Danny want the friendship between the two men to be ended. So things are over between our couple before they begin.

But then the team is sent on a mission and JD is taken by a maniac. The rest of the team is determined to rescue him and because of Erin’s unique genius in older technology, they are forced to bring her along and with Danny and Erin working together, their almost need for each other grows.

I said in one of my updates that the author is amazing at writing longing and the longing between these two is almost tangible. This is a romantic suspense so there is a lot of heart stopping moments. I don’t normally gravitate towards RS but Helena Newbury writes it so brilliantly, I can’t help but want to read it.

The lead characters are great. With such brilliant writing, their love and desire for each other is so compelling it’s hard to put the book down. I love the closeness between the team. They truly are a unit. This book has what a good RS needs, balance between romance (the more important of the two for me) and suspense. Even if you aren’t a reader of this particular genre, I highly recommend giving it a try. It’s available on KU so why not? You may find an author and genre you can really vibe with.

What an incredibly amazing book.
I enjoyed every second of it.
The story is like a mix between 007 and Rambo. Just Rambo was never as hot as the characters from this story 😂

Take a nerdy heroine, throw in a cocky soldier and a secret mission gone awry, and you get an insanely suspenseful and exciting book in the unique Helena Newbury style.

I love action romances.
There is something incredibly exciting about a dangerous, deadly and adventure filled story that is not only entertaining and dramatic but also full of unknown dangers, which requires a lot of special skills to survive it.

Erin's and Danny's story starts with a big bang and a British knight in shining armor.
She's shy and nerdy. He's a charming, cocky womanizer.

What neither of them knows is that they are about to experience their worst nightmare in a few days.
A dramatic event that will force them to fight together for their lives and change them forever.

Have I already written how much I love this book? Infinite! 🥰😍❤️

It's definitely a must-read-page-turner for all lovers of action-packed romances.

This is the second book of the band of mercenary misfits bonded together in ‘No Angel’. This weaves a tale of Danny and Erin, the two most unlikely to be attracted. He, a tank of a man from the rough streets of London, muscles and brawn, a skilled auto mechanic/driver; she’s JD’s naive and awkward baby sister.

Erin’s in Mount Mercy to be with her brother JD after walking into her office and being ambushed by her ex. Toby made a speech with phrases such as, “given what’s happened,” and “because of how things have worked out.” As if it was an external matter and not because he’d cheated on her with one of her so-called ‘friends’.

Sitting in a cafe waiting for her brother, a stranger uses a ruse to distract her and steal her electronics. Danny Briggs, is former SAS and bad boy-ladies man, met Erin right after she is gullibly robbed. He steps in to lend a hand retrieving her belongings and ultimately watches over her as she awaits her big brother. Danny tells Erin that he is merely a mechanic, not mentioning that he is also part of an elite covert ops team that just happens to be led by Erin’s brother, JD.

Danny is a brash womaniser, a simple bloke, with an appreciation for cars, beer and the sort of sex that makes the neighbors push angry notes under your door the next morning. He doesn’t do relationships, he doesn’t get…interested in someone in that way. The women he usually goes for are female versions of himself, flirty and confident, understanding the score. He hooks up with women who melt for his British accent and he doesn’t do relationships.

Then Erin blindsided him. Erin, a shy tech genius with a serious book habit. They’re polar opposites but when he looks into her pale blue eyes, he’s smitten. Danny’s mind keeps wandering to Erin. Why her? He’d gone his entire life without feeling that connection, why did the one woman he felt it with, have to be JD’s little sister?

They’re poles apart except they compliment each other, her love for electronics balances his love of engines. She’s shy whereas he’s confident, innocent where he’s experienced…he appreciates their differences. Erin made him want to grow, to be smart like her, to try new things.

He loves his lifestyle. He’s part of the team at Stormfinch Security, a private group that only needed them for jobs a few times a month, but between the jobs there was planning, scouting and lots of training. JD, his best mate commanded their motley crew which included five mile runs before the break of Dawn, skulking through local forests doing night training long after dark. When they wasn’t training, he’d been helping Kian, the Irishman who handled all the admin and got them their missions, to turn a derelict factory into their base.

As long as Erin could remember, she didn’t fit in. She’s content shying away behind her computer. Despite the ten-year age gap, they remain close especially since the loss of his wife Jillian and their child, Max.

JD doted on his wife, a little over a year after they met, he popped the question and six months after that, they were married. A couple of years later, Max arrived, a baby boy with Jillian’s shining blonde hair but JD’s thick curls. He had JD’s pale blue eyes, too, and with the blond curls he looked angelic. Pretty young, he discovered the art of using his innocent eyes on you. Not long after Max’s fifth birthday, their mother received a frantic call from JD, saying she needed to get to his place immediately. She arrived to find the street filled with police cars.
Jillian and Max were dead.

JD was on an op overseas, on the phone with them when an intruder broke into their house and he’d had to listen from a thousand miles away as they were killed. He quit the army, which had always been the core of his life, and sank into a deep depression for years. Then, six months ago, his best friend had managed to persuade him to come and lead this team in Colorado—Danny was the one who’d pulled him out of that dark pit. He virtually saved his life.

After years with the gang, stealing cars, the police finally caught up to him, he was eighteen. The judge gave him an ultimatum: prison or the army, he signed up passing selection for the Parachute Regiment. Fast forward he’d been advanced to the British Special Forces (SAS), they needed someone handy with a gun and good behind the wheel. On a joint mission with Delta Force, he met JD.

They were in Yemen to snatch a terrorist leader who was behind a whole series of attacks on US bases. The intel was bad. He became separated from the rest of the SAS and wound up outnumbered and pinned down in the middle of a ballroom as fire spread through the mansion. And there, hunkered behind an upturned table, he met JD, the leader of the Delta Team, also separated from his men. Together, they managed to shoot their exit out of there, rescue the rest and get everyone down to the basement garage, where he hotwired a Range Rover and got them out of there. JD said that Delta could use a guy like him and pulled some strings to get him.

They couldn’t be more different: the party-loving, womanising Brit and the stoic cowboy but, for some reason, it worked. JD was like the big brother he’d never had, responsible and always there for him. For the first time in his life, he felt that deep connection that other people seemed to make easily. JD became his best friend and the only really close friend he’d ever had. Fighting side by side for years: countless unsanctioned secret missions. They’re brothers in everything but blood, he couldn’t protect him from the thing that destroyed him: losing his wife and child. He’d watched helplessly, as he quit the military and withdrew to a dark, cold place. That was when he got out of the army, too. He did private security work for a few years. Then, when Kian O’Harra recruited him for the team, he told Kian he’d join…on the condition that JD be recruited as team leader.

Initially, Danny has no clue that Erin's brother and his best friend are one and the same, but he's about to find out and learn that though he may be JD's best mate, where Erin is concerned, she is strictly off-limits. When an mission goes awry, the team rallies to rescue JD who sacrifices himself and has been captured under dire circumstances. JD's friendship is fundamental to Danny…jeopardised by his feelings for Erin.

Erin is a little sweet, naive and a bona fide electronics technology wizard. She’s just lost her job and her boyfriend, and she’s come to Mount Mercy to visit her brother and regroup. She and Danny connect, and Danny begins to think that it might be nice to have someone in his life.

JD knowing the kind of guy Danny typically is with women, JD warns him to stay away from Erin.
“Danny, I love you, pal. But if you go near Erin, I swear, I will beat the crap out of you. You and me, we’ll be done.”
It was a slap to the face. Despite tussling at times, all best friends do, usually when he’d gotten into drunken bar brawls. This situation was different: he was a papa bear, protecting family and far worse, they’d be done. A life without JD was unthinkable.
“Okay,” he said, from the depths of his soul. “I promise.”

Their mission was to take pictures and quietly grab the guy. They walked in on someone selling old Soviet files and getting killed by the buyer, being caught up in a firefight.

JD sacrificed himself and is captured, giving his men the means to escape…JD’s in Siberia (being tortured for information) by the BND (The Bundesnachrichtendienst, Germany’s foreign intelligence service). Their superiors renounce all involvement, Stormfinch must independently find the means to extract JD.

After carefully planning the retrieval, there are only three days before JD’s execution. All the prisoners wear an ankle bracelet, if JD leaves his cell with that on, the alarms sound. The complexity of disabling is highly intricate and must be performed manually as this is old Soviet tech, from the eighties, when the prison was built.

They need someone with advanced technical skills to disable the bracelet.
The only person skilled enough is Erin. Inside the bracelet is a mass of tiny circuit boards joined by a jungle of tiny wires as thin as angel hair. The most complicated thing she’d ever seen. She must master this, because if she didn’t, her brother wasn’t coming home.

Doing a test run, they realise the bracelets are all hardwired differently. The prison was open for decades in the Soviet days and they must have updated the design. Some MIT guys tried for a challenge but they got nowhere. No one’s ever been able to get one of them off.

She cannot make a universal key that opens them all, not without a sample of every bracelet and there could be hundreds. She would have to be there in person to take apart JD’s bracelet and hack it manually, because making a key that did that automatically was impossible.
“I could hotwire it,” I blurted.
They all turned to look at me.
“But I’d have to be there,” I’d have to come with you.”
He’d promised JD to protect her. But now the only way to save him was to place her in danger.

They head deep into the Siberian wilderness. For the first time, he wants something permanent, something real. This proves to be nearly impossible for Danny and Erin as their attraction for one another is put to the test.

How will he choose between the woman he’s fallen for and the best friend who means the world to him? They’ve stumbled onto something terrifying and unless they can solve a decades-old mystery, none of them are coming home.

The story of roguish thief Gabriel falling in love with Olivia and becoming a hero to save her is told in No Angel.

The story of how Kian came to protect—and fall in love with—Emily, the President’s daughter, is told in Saving Liberty.

The story of Bethany saving Rufus and in turn, saved by Cal is told in Deep Woods.

To find out how shy languages expert Arianna was sent by the CIA to seduce Luka, only to fall for him, read Lying and Kissing.

The story of Kian and his brothers rescuing Bradan from the cult is told in Brothers which is a free book written as a thank-you to readers (but the four O’Harra brothers’ books should be read first. They are: Punching and Kissing, Bad For Me, Saving Liberty and Outlaw’s Promise).”

Good story line but overdone

The romantic parts of the story were nice...however, the adventure themes were so overdone they were no place near believable. Such as the couple falling out of a chopper , being stranded in waist high snow for days as they hike through mountains from sunrise to dark in temperature below zero. Oh, and falling through an ice covered lake. That's only 1 percent of the misadventures. Much more research needed to be done to make this story read like a professional wrote it. It just became laughable the more I read. I doubt I'll read the rest of the books in this series.

I just love this author’s books and Off Limits didn’t disappoint. This book is centered around Erin and Danny, but we get to read about previous characters we’ve got to know and love. Erin and Danny first meet when he intervenes, after her bag is stolen. Unknown to both of them, Erin’s big brother, JD, is Danny’s best friend. When JD comes to pick Erin up, he makes it known to Danny that Erin is off limits to him. What is going to happen and will they stay away from each other? I absolutely loved the page-turning suspense in this book. One thing happens and you think they’re safe and then something else occurs. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say if you enjoy a good romantic suspense read, you should grab this book.

Positive for me was the writing (as always from this author), the great action scenes, the chases and the tight knit group.
For me the only real negative was the amount of times we had to go over how they couldn't be a couple, it got old fast.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Too many unbelievable events

Possible Spoiler Alert

I struggled with the behavior in the snow. As someone who lives in a state with a lot of snow, it hard to overlook behavior that wouldn’t happen, like walking side by side through deep snow as one example, and if the temperature was around -10 and -30, why did the ice break on the lake? For a team that is supposed to be elite, they failed every mission.

I really enjoyed this book, I was looking for something with a little action and found it, I flew through it in a couple days.

When Danny and Erin meet, it's magnetic, unfortunately they soon realize they need to tamp down the passion that arcs between them as Danny's best friend is Erin's brother and he is against them developing any kind of relationship. Danny is a member of the Stormfinch Security team, he's former SAS and a talented driver, a skill he picked up from a misspent youth and something of a ladies man, guarding his heart as a result of his less than ideal childhood. Erin is a brainiac at loose ends after a contentious break-up costs her her job and home. She finds herself in Mount Mercy to spend time with her older brother JD, who is the team lead of the Stormfinch Security team, as a truly tragic anniversary for him passes. When her brother is taken during a mission gone wrong she shows her mettle and joins the rescue op alongside Danny and the rest of the team to Siberia and Berlin. Now, if only she could stay by his side forever...

A few things kept this from being a five-star read for me:
- The insta-love (love-at-first-sight doesn't really resonate with me in a longer novel format as you have the luxury to take the time to show the characters falling for each other. I can somewhat tolerate it in a novella as you are limited in story length)
- The huge cast of characters that was dumped on the reader all at once (I was forced to grab a pen and paper to write down the names of the other team members and their respective partners). I imagine they all have books on their own so if you'd read those (assuming they exist) you would be fine, I was reading this as a standalone because that's what is was billed as in the description and it was too overwhelming.
- The timing of most of the intimacy, which occurs primarily after some death defying action. It felt like the book had been written and then the author realized she forgot all the bedroom scenes so threw a dart at the outline to decide where they would go. It just didn't naturally flow for me.
- The death defying action was a little over the top, there was A LOT going on and it required a lot of suspension of disbelief.

Yikes, I didn't realize I had so many things I didn't like.

I guess that's a testament to the author's writing that despite several things that brought me out of the story she was able to bring me back, keep me engaged and entertained and ultimately I enjoyed the ride. I would definitely read more of her books.

The second book of the Stormfinch Security series features Britsh man-ho Danny Briggs and nerdy Erin. Erin has come to Mount Mercy, Colorado to support her brother on the anniversary of a horrible day in his life. A man steals her backpack in a coffee shop and she chases him into the street where he sidearms her into a wall. This is where Danny takes over, as he fights to get Erin's possessions back. He finds himself fascinated by the small woman in glasses who was chasing down a thief in the street. Her laptop has been damaged and he invites her to his garage workshop to try and repair it. Watching her work just intrigues him more and he is considering making his move when her brother shows up to pick her up. He opens the door to find the outraged face of - his best friend.

There is no way JD is going to allow Danny to date his sister. As much as he wants Erin, Danny can't go against JD's wishes. He can't even blame his friend for never having introduced him to his baby sister. Danny's love-em-and-leave-em reputation is well known and nobody wants that for their sister. Danny has resigned himself to never getting the chance to find out what could have been, when a mission gone wrong finds JD captured and taken to a black-ops prison in Siberia. Turns out, electronics genius Erin is the only viable hope they have to free her brother. But what happens when the team takes untrained civilian Erin into the cold hostile territory of northern Russia? Nothing good.

Loved the attraction between Danny and Erin. She is shy and introverted and he seems to be the opposite, but is he really? Danny had a hard childhood and he had hidden his heart under a lot of scar tissue that Erin seems to burrow right through. He is torn between two horrible futures - losing his best friend or losing a chance to finally find someone to love him unconditionally. He knows that JD needs both him and Erin and can't take a chance on leaving him alone in his grief. Is there any way this can work out? Maybe, but first they all have to live long enough....

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Lemme start with the info that I wish I'd known before I started. While this book is definitely a standalone, most of the supporting characters are already paired up with their loves and their stories came before this one. This book is part of a series, though that doesn't really seem to be indicated anywhere in the description. Again, it's a standalone but I'm a person who likes to start at the beginning and there are A LOT of people who had their story told before this one.
Moving on.....SHEEEEESH Danny is so adorable and strong and knows what he wants and isn't afraid to show it. Erin is a little timid at the beginning but she finds her voice, confidence and bravery really quickly and Danny loves her all the more for it. Their relationship is 'forbidden' by Erin's brother (aka Danny's best friend) because of Danny's past playboy ways but you can't stop what is inevitable.
This book did not QUIT with the intrigue and the action. Whew. Sometimes I had to take a bit of a break cuz I was getting too into it! But wow wow wow this book was awesome! Well written. A little bit of slow burn with a few smexy times, when the action cooled down enough for it.
I kinda wish I had started at the beginning but it didn't really detract from this book at all. All the supporting characters in this book were awesome so I can't wait to read their stories. Just glancing through a few of the synopsis from the other books....this book is not an exception...ALL of this author's books sound SO good and not cookie cutter.
Loved this story and their HEA!

I wonder what it is like in Helena Newbury’s mind when she is crafting a book? How does she create all the dangerous scenarios that she places the heroes and heroines in? How does she extricate them from the peril just to plunge them into frozen lakes? How do they escape from inescapable prisons built into sides of mountains in Siberia, fend off wolf attacks, and dangle over cliffs trying to rescue a bomb? All this and fall in love at the same time?

Her mind must not shut off. This is the second book about the band of mercenary misfits bonded together in No Angel and Off Limits is every bit as good if not better as the first. This story is the tale of Danny and Erin, two of the most unlikely people to fall in love. He is a tank of man from the rough streets of London; she is JD’s tiny baby sister- awkward and shy. He is muscles and brawn in a tailored suit. She wears glasses and her hair in a braided plait down her back. He is a skilled auto mechanic/driver, and she is a electronic techno wizard and yet they match. But must stay away from each other because of JD, his best friend and her big brother, who warned them away.

Every word in this book is a delight! It is a mad cap story that takes the reader around the world as the team tries to solve the riddle of the sisters. The reader is on the edge of the seat flipping pages as fast as they can be read.

It is always good to go back to Mount Mercy. To visit with old friends like Gabriel and Olivia and Kian and Emily, Bethany and Cal and Rufus. I remain Helena Newbury’s Number One Fan and can’t wait for JD’s story

Loved this newest Stormfinch novel. Erin’s arrival in Mount Mercy leaves a lot to be desired. Heartbroken by a recent breakup and loss of her job, she arrives in town to visit with her brother and quickly finds herself the victim of a mugging. Now, this is where things start to look up for her, as her pursuit of the thief catches the attention of Danny Briggs, the lone British member of the team. He quickly finds himself fascinated by the tiny, quietly beautiful, shy and brilliant Erin. Sparks ignite, but before they have a chance to flourish, Danny finds out that Erin is his best friend/commander’s sister. JD is the one person in the world that Danny loves and considers him his brother. After being told that his pursuing Erin would cause the end to his relationship with JD, Danny tried to put a halt to his growing fascination and feelings for Erin. However, when an op goes badly and JD is taken hostage, Erin is reluctantly brought on board to take part in the rescue when her unique technological skills become a crucial part of the plan. Can Danny keep his emotions in check and his hands off of Erin long enough to get through the mission when he has to keep her close enough to ensure her safety? Uncovering the truth behind their original botched surveillance operation will embroil the whole team on a dangerous journey through Europe, and bring onboard some familiar, but unlikely, allies in their quest for justice.

Erin drops everything and heads to Mount Mercy to be with her brother JD. Despite the ten year age gap, they are very close especially since the loss of his wife and young son. Erin is content behind her computer hiding away from the world but recent developments have her at a loss, so seeing JD is all she needs. JD works for Stormfinch Security, as does his best friend Danny. Danny Briggs, former SAS and current bad boy- British ladies man is more than just a best friend to JD, they are like brothers.
When Danny sees Erin in need of assistance, he steps in to help and ultimately watches over her while she waits to meet with her brother. Danny has no idea that Erin's brother and his best friend are one in the same, but he's about to find out and learn he may be JD's best bud but where Erin is concerned, she is officially off limits. When an op goes sideways, the team must rally to rescue one of their own. JD has been captured and all hands are on deck, including Erin's. JD's friendship is important to Danny and not only have they seen a lot, they have been through a lot together. The way Danny feels about Erin is nothing he's ever felt before. JD knows Danny all too well and in his eyes, there's no way Danny deserves her. Now the only woman Danny has ever wanted is completely off limits and she would have to stay that way if he wanted to keep his best friend/brother who has saved his life numerous times in many different ways. Now it was time to save JD.

If you're looking for lots of action and suspense mixed with drama and lots of smoking hot romance, look no further, this book delivers! I was cheering on Erin and Danny from the beginning! Fantastic storyline with well developed main and secondary characters!
I absolutely loved this book! A wonderful addition to this awesome series!!!

Off Limits by Helena Newbury is an older brother’s best friend romance, but more than that, it’s an action infused roller coaster ride. Erin and Danny meet right after she is gullibly robbed and Danny steps in to give her a hand getting her belongings back. Danny tells Erin that he is just a mechanic, not mentioning that he is also part of an elite covert ops group that just happens to be the team that Erin’s brother heads up.

Erin is sweet, a little naive and a self-professed computer geek. She’s just lost her job and her boyfriend, and she’s come to Mount Mercy to see her brother and try to regroup. She and Danny connect right away, and Danny begins to think that it might be nice to have someone in his life who is more than a one time fling. Until Erin’s brother JD shows up. Knowing the kind of guy Danny typically is with women, JD warns him to stay away from Erin. This proves to be nearly impossible for Danny and Erin both and when JD is captured on an op and the team needs Erin to come along on a rescue mission, their attraction for one another is put to the test.

This book had non-stop action with the team in constant danger on foreign soil with few allies to help them. They need to call on everyone’s individual skill to survive and to get back home with the team intact. The story was fast paced, engaging and just a whole lot of fun. I liked the conflict between Danny and JD with Erin at the center, and the romance and chemistry between Danny and Erin was supremely hot with a side of super sweet. I just fell in love with this couple. Another great read from Helena Newbury.

Gripping, romantic, intense, steamy—everything you could want in a book!

Okay, so this was just a fantastic read. I absolutely fell in love with both Danny’s and Erin’s characters. The character development for the protagonists and even the secondary characters was so well done—I felt like I was watching a television series all compacted into one book! A literary art form! Don’t know how best to describe it as I’m a reader, not a writer lol 😄. Anyway, getting back to their story: wow! Danny’s character you can’t help but fall in love with even though he IS a hound dog at first lol and Erin’s sweet, shy and smart character with her introverted ways grips your heart and makes you fall as in love with her as Danny does. Just can’t help it!

I loved their instant and intense connection from the start. Chemistry was off the charts and the scenes between them were delicious! Could not have asked for better.

And lastly: JD. We NEED his story and a HEA for him!! My heart just went out to him (that is just an awful backstory he really needs a redo, poor thing) and I completely agree with Erin that he needs his special someone again! So sad 😭. Can’t wait for the next book already, Ms. Newbury—I’m hooked!

What a Treat! Danny and Erin.

The latest Stormfinch Security at Mount Mercy Colorado brings us former SAS soldier Danny & tecky Erin. That'd be Erin, the sister of JD, Danny's boss and best friend in the whole world & the guy who knows what a player Danny has been.

Most brothers best friend romances that I've read have a flimsy excuse for keeping the two lovers apart. In the story however, Helena Newbury gives the pair an truly but wrenching barrier. Danny has had nobody in his life like JD and he knows he will lose that friendship if he carries a relationship with Erin too far without JD's approval. That will be a tough sell because of Danny's reputation with fast and loose women. I really felt for their angst. Erin knows her brother would never forgive Danny for starting anything with her.

But the thing is, they are so good together! Danny finds Erin sweet and adorable and sexy. Tech genius Erin has never fit in anywhere but Danny gets her.

There's plenty of action and excitement in frozen Siberia. Theres plenty of sexy action too. I really enjoyed this. 5 stars. Next up in love wolf JD. I can hardly wait!

If there's one thing most men honor is the Bro Code...don't mess with the younger sister. This is Danny Briggs's conundrum. Go after the woman that stirs feelings in him for the first time or risk losing his best friend. Off Limits plays out over an op that has international implications, in the brutal wilds of Siberia to the cosmopolitan Berlin and with an unusual but temporary alliance with Bratva. Erin Taggert is a self professed geek and nerd. At probably a life low point she's rescued by a devastatingly gorgeous knight in shining armor. Fast forward she becomes part of the rescue effort of a Stormfinch team member. She and Danny are forced to brave the hostile Siberian wasteland which only strengthens their already powerful connection. Then she and the team are on a deadline to figure out what a corrupt German official's end game is and then stop it. Not an easy task and certainly what could end up being a deadly one. Finally, Erin's brother acknowledges and accepts Her relationship with Danny. Danny finally finds peace and the love he thought was out of his reach.

A little confusing

OK, I seem to be reading these books in reverse order. First, I read JD’s book, Guarded. Then figured I’d go to the beginning with this one, Off Limits. But surprise! This one is much further in the series.

I’m already in love with all these guys in the Stormfinch security company. I want to know all their stories. This book, Danny and Erin’s story, was exciting and intriguing. Absolutely appealed to my need for a great plot along with great romance. I was on the edge of my seat (staying up until 4 am to finish it!) as the bad guy almost triumphed. So many things I just didn’t see coming. Several bad characters look they may make appearances in future books. Can’t wait!

I have a question, though. Vasily’s son is a priest, but has a family? What denomination is he? Certainly not Catholic—maybe Anglican? Lutheran? Author could have been clearer. Just a minor point, though.

This book gets my highest rating and I absolutely recommend it to romance/adventure reading enthusiasts.

What a dreadful book. The characters aren't believable in the slightest, and the so called "expert ex military task force" are about as good as I'd be on a mission, they make so many mistakes and have no urgency or stealth like procedures, getting caught and mucking things up numerous times. The book drags on monotonously, especially once they reach Berlin; I was past caring what happened. The main couple the story evolves around of Erin a computer geek taken on a military mission (with no training) and falling for Danny the self confessed Man whore was a step too far. How many times in the dialogue the author wrote "why did he have to be my brothers best friend" or varying versions of that phrase! Then there was the odd third character POV chapters of Becke the crooked, corrupt german. The book was messy and farcical and there are a hell of a lot bet military/security romance novels out there with a plot!

Erin has lost her job and her boyfriend in Vegas and decides to go visit her brother JD in Mount Mercy to be with her brother on the anniversary of his Wife and child’s death. When she gets in town, she meets Danny who saves her from a thief, they then spend the day together until JD can come and get her when she realises Danny is JD’s best friend and making them off limits to each other as Danny is a player and JD doesn’t want his sister to get hurt.

On a military mission JD is captured by the enemy and the team he works for devises a plan to rescue him, however they run into complications meaning Erin must accompany them and help save JD. Erin and Danny are forced together to survive, and their chemistry is off the charts.

This book is in the Stormfinch Security series and can be read as a stand alone. Erin is JD's sister and decides to go visit him due to the anniversary of JD's loss of his wife and son. Erin is a electronics geek and not confident with herself. She meets Danny accidentally who helps her when she gets robbed. She has no idea that Danny is JD's best friend and Danny doesn't know she is the sister. She and Danny have to work together along with the Stormfinch crew to rescue JD and one thing leads to another. Unfortunately, Erin and he must stay away from each other or Danny could lose his friendship forever. This book was really intense and full of suspense which kept me reading it well into the night. I highly recommend reading this! I received an advance copy from the author and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Once again Helena has knocked it out of the park, what a brilliant book, I loved Danny and Erin's story. It was great to see some of the others from previous books, all together and working as a team.

They say opposites attract, and in this case, they really do, Danny Is a beast of a man and Erin is small and a nerd a shy tech genius, but they fit so well, both passionate about what they do.

They first meet after someone has tricked her and stolen her electronics, and Danny gets them back, at this time he doesn't know who her brother is, once they realise that she is JD's brother she is totally off limits.

Everything was fine till JD got captured and only Erin could get him released so she went on the mission with them, this is a fast-paced action-packed romance.

5 stars are not enough for this book. I can't wait to read JD's story.

This book was so very nearly a DNF. I persevered in the hope that it would get better but I just couldn't find much I liked about this story.

Considering the book was only around 300 pages long, there was a lot of activity. Everything that could have happened or gone wrong on their 'rescue mission' did happen. Unfortunately, most of them weren't even realistic (falling from a helicopter, falling in a lake, falling off a cliff...). The main characters were very stereotypical but likeable; however, their love story would have been more believable if they hadn't supposedly fallen in love within a week. Okay, they were in some high-adrenaline situations but what did they actually know about each other? I would read another book by this author but definitely not another book in this series.

This action-packed best friend's little sister romance is gripping, intense, drama-filled, and suspenseful. Erin is off-limits and Danny knows it. He doesn't want to do anything to jeopardize his friendship with Erin's brother, JD. They've been through too much together and JD saved Danny when he was lost. Danny knows he must do the right thing and resist Erin even though it is hard and he's never felt this way about anyone before. When JD and Erin find themselves in a dangerous situation, all bets may just be off.

Wow. This plot was well-written, entertaining, and gripped me from start to finish. I loved the sexual tension between Danny and Erin. It was so hot. They were complete opposites but they were so good together. The suspense had me on the edge of my seat. This book took me on a wild ride and I didn't want to stop. I recommend reading this book. It is a standalone with a HEA.

Things I liked:
-Suspense. Nail biter through to the end. Some of the things that happen seem exaggerated but it's a book and made it more dangerous.
-Drama. JD's best friend and his sister. That's a loaded sentence. Add in kidnapping, wilderness survival, and a rogue government worker then you have tons of drama.
-Romance.
-Characters. Erin & Danny are great for each other. The playboy finally settle down with the geek.
-HEA.

Can't wait until JDs story.

Captivating. Romance. Action. Off Limits has it all!
Danny thought he was broken, that he couldn’t love or have feelings, until he meets Erin. Erin thought she was too geeky, nerdy to attract attention from the hot British guy but was wrong. It was like love at first sight but they both had a mutual someone who they both loved and didn’t want to hurt. And on top of that a mission that just wouldn’t go to plan.
Helena Newbury just has this touch about writing books. It keeps her readers captivated from beginning to end.
Loved seeing Luka and Arianna make an appearance. I believe they were my first story I read from Helena Newbury. Love too see old characters make appearances. I am very curious and can’t wait for JD story.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

Hope to see Kian in action more and a O’Hara reunion :)

Danny and JD are best friends who both work for Stormfinch Security. Erin is a "civilian" and JD's sister, and JD makes it clear to Danny that Erin is off limits; but when a rescue goes wrong and Erin and Danny end up stranded, they can no longer deny the powerful attraction between them, even though it might end up costing them both their relationship with JD.

Danny and Erin might seem like an unlikely match but I loved them together. They have great chemistry and there is just something so genuine and sweet about them as a couple. There's romance and plenty of action in this excellent romantic suspense story. This exciting story is a great read with some intense edge of your seat moments. I really enjoyed it.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A Thrilling Suspenseful Romance

Loved, loved, loved this second book in The Stormfinch Security Series. Since this is Helena you can expect plenty of heart-racing action in exotic locations, secrets, comraderity, and steamy panty-melting romance.
She has a way of bringing you into the story so you feel like you are right there living in the moment. This is Danny and Erin’s story they will take you on a rollercoaster ride as they navigate their forbidden attraction.
It was comforting to see the rest of the team and how they watch out and care for one another. Love seeing them with their women and can’t wait until JD finds his love interest.
Don’t pass on this one if you want a thrilling suspenseful romance.
