Thanks to my hubby for gifting me this for my birthday! I have been eyeing this book for AGEEEESSS, but Amazon was constantly way too expensive or the book wasn't there. So imagine my delight opening up the present and seeing this one! In this one we are going to space and we are learning all about space. From astronauts to planets to milky ways and black holes. Everything is done in Mindy and Guy's really fun way and it just makes you want to keep on reading and reading. I am so delighted with this book, it was just as fun as the other books in the series. Though for this once I am writing a short review as my blog is just filling up so fast, haha. I would highly recommend this book and I am looking forward to the next one!
Learn about the extraordinary mysteries in space with Guy Raz and Mindy Thomas. From neutron stars to black holes and aliens to a day in the life of an astronaut, you'll learn everything you need to know. 🪐 Paige's thoughts: This book is a treasure trove of information about space. It taught me a bit about the stars, planets, and more. Did you know that "in 2012, researchers spotted a possible water plume jetting out from Europa's (one of Jupiter's moons) south polar region"? 👩🚀 Laly's thoughts: I love the subject of space and read all of these big, thick books about the subject. I learned a lot about space despite knowing a lot about it. My favorite subjects were black holes and neutron stars. It is incredible how a single teaspoon of a Neutron star would weigh more than 1 billion tons! They are beautiful if you search for a picture of a neutron star! Supermassive black holes are also superb and typically found in a galaxy's center. The illustrations are beautiful, funny, and very bright. While reading this book, it's so full of fun facts that you don't even realize you're learning! Perfect Christmas present for anyone who loves the subject of space! Happy Reading, Paige & Laly ❤️ 📚
Thank you, @theshelfstuff @clarionbooks for sharing this out-of-space book with us!
Wow in the World is an educational podcast hosted by Thomas and Raz for kids and their parents to explore science in a way that hopefully leaves them saying, "Wow!" Their podcast has now evolved to include a book series and one of the books in the series is all about space and the amazing things that are a part of what makes up our universe. The book covers space topics such as; the universe after the big bang, all about stars, space rocks like asteroids, comets, and meteors, aliens, space exploration, and all of the inside scoop about what it takes to become an astronaut for NASA. The book is written by the hosts of the Wow in the World podcast and is colorfully presented in a comic book format where they are the main characters. This book would be engaging for children ages 8 to 12 and could ignite a new interest in space. This book may also lead children to the podcast and other resources in the back of the books that are linked to QR codes for more learning opportunities aligned with the books.
I enjoyed the comic book style of this science book for children because it was very colorful and fun to read. I learned a lot about the universe and space that I didn't know and I believe this would be a great book for teachers to have on their shelves to encourage students to enjoy learning about science.
Love the cartoon layout of this book. It makes the book not so overwhelming to younger readers. I did have 2 'problems' with the book. 1)Near the middle of the book, the authors mentions under Close Encounters debunked - Aliens building the pyramids, Area 51 and Crop circles. I'm unsure if this needed to added to the book. It just didn't flow with the rest. 2) on page 113 - Things we have because of Space Travel Research - there are pictures of 3D printing and athletic shoes and the information underneath is switched.
I absolutely loved this book, I love space and learning all about it and even tho I knew a lot, I still learned a ton from this book! It’s got so many colorful pages and each page is packed with facts. It’s also got fun comics, so it makes learning even more fun! I will be asking my mom for the other WOW books since this one was so good!
What a great way for children and adults to learn about space and the world. The illustrations were beautifully done and helps you understand the information given. Such a positive lesson that learning can be fun. Thank you to Goodreads Giveaways and HarperCollins for the opportunity to receive this book.
This was a very good book about space! I loved the illustrations! I laughed for way too long when it said astronauts had left 96 bags of their pee and poop on the moon. That was absolutely hilarious to me.
