Er will Santa.
Auch wenn er weiß, dass es nur ein Traum ist.
Denn wie jeder weiß, gibt es ja eine Mrs. Claus, nicht wahr?

Does anyone remember that Norwegian postal commercial from last year (2021)? This book reminded me so much of that wonderful video -

one night a year. for years.

- especially when Santa involves the postal services on Christmas to make more time with the man he’s falling for.

His lips were warm, soft. His beard grazed mine. […]
The sigh that escaped him was one that said ‘and there you are at last.’

I must admit that I liked the first half of the book more than the second but I loved the conclusion and their HEA. All in all in was a wonderful and magical holiday read. And I love the beautiful cover!

side note: seeing now after I finished the review that the author was indeed inspired by that Norwegian commercial - haha no wonder it reminded me so much of it.

Santa's Secrets was a total MM holiday romance banger! An easy 5 star read for me, simply based on my shocking inability to put this baby down one veeeery late night, in the lead up to Christmas.

I loved everything about this story, from the STUNNING cover design, to the epic decades-in-the-making love story between Santa and Anthony—the human who went from Santa’s young friend, to first lover, to his partner in everything.

The magical realism was wonderful in this one. I particularly loved this version of Santa and how history played a part in shaping his creation.

I usually don’t enjoy time jumps in my reading, but the brilliance of this story depended on them, to showcase each Christmas Eve—the one night of the year Santa and Anthony could spend together—from Anthony’s youth all the way through to his dashing fifties.

The story was written in such a way—each chapter building one year at a time towards the present day—that I found it really hard to put it down, so desperate was I to see the decades of friendship turn into something profound and deeply romantic for these two charming men.

Not only was this my favourite holiday read of the 2022 season, but it also marks itself as my favourite K.C. Wells story to date! Yay for me!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Side note: I suggest reading Wells’ GR review for more info on story and cover inspiration. It made the whole experience even more special, IMO. ❤️

Reread #1

I don’t celebrate Christmas, but if I were to pick up a book every Christmas this would be it from now. It was the best decision made to reread this masterpiece today.

“It doesn’t matter how busy it gets, I will always find time for you.” Santa raised his glass. “To continuing friendship, and a delightful tradition.”

This book stirred so many emotions in me; the tears just kept flowing. I yearned for a love as profound as theirs and wished for a life like Anthony and Santa's, one that could exist in another lifetime.

I forgot how comforting this book made me feel. Reading it now makes me feel happy that I noticed a lot parts of them growing together. Perks of having a short term memory hahaha. If it’s not obvious, I am still in love with this book, it made me tear up, blush, swoon and laugh just like the first time reading. I enjoyed it very much and cannot wait to read it again! 💜💜💜

”You promise?
Cross my heart.”

Original Review

OOH I had so much fun time with this!! GOSH! the joy I felt everytime Santa snap his fingers or ride the sleighs with Anthony around the world. Oh my God, so beautiful! I snorted, laughed and cried reading this lmaoo it was quite sad at times, but not too bad. I was still so emotional the whole time 🥹 Especially the last 10% DAMN that was too sweet it hurts!!

“Will that be enough to remember tonight?”

I kissed him. “What makes you think I could ever forget?”

The sceneries were so vivid I love it so much! 🥰 Also the PINING, waiting to see each other. AAAAAAAHHHH 😩🥺😋🤭🥹😮‍💨🥰 There was always something to look forward to in every chapters and I can’t help but hold on to every important events that happened. Just like how Anthony hold on to Santa 💗 All the years they always have things to say, share and laugh. It’s adorable.

The delivery of the story is amazing, especially since Anthony technically grow up along the way. Imagine, since he was twelve. And Santa never change, until one day, Anthony has become full grown adult, he started to see Santa in a different way and wanted more. Perfect how you can deliver a story without any grooming issues, yknow. Salute! ❤️

Though I have to admit the monologues of a 12 year old Anthony and 40 year old Anthony have no difference LOL 😂 but I truly do not care anymore. This book was so perfect to me. And oh, btw, SANTA IS KINKY ALRIGHT 😭😭🤣

The cover means so much….the longing I felt reading it and then now, seeing the cover, it feels so good. They’re so perfect such sweethearts 🥹❤️ Goddamn, I can’t stop crying

my favourite details as always:

**SPOILERS**

chapter: when I was thirty-three
chapter: when I was forty
LAST CHAPTER 😭😩❤️
sleigh rides Anthony hugging Santa
Santa’s Dad Jokes LMAO
69 sex LOLLLLLLL (that was surprisingly hot)

Last year, I saw a wonderful video from the Norwegian Post office, When Harry met Santa.
And just like that, I knew I had to write this book.
Then I asked my friend, photographer Ben Fink, to be my Santa, because he looked the part.
But when I started writing the book, I knew exactly who would be Anthony, the man who falls for Santa - Anthony Gordon, Ben's husband.
Anthony loved the idea.
Then I had a call with Ben where we discussed what I wanted for the cover.
And he nailed it.
I absolutely love what he created.
More importantly, it reflects the love between my main characters.
And I can't wait for you to meet them.

Have you ever wanted to bang Santa? Well now you can't because Anthony got there first.

This might be the first Christmas book I've read that features a real Santa. Santa's Secrets follows Santa and Anthony as they meet once a year on Christmas Eve. I really enjoyed this way of telling the story as we get to see a large span of Anthony's life. They only meet once a year; their friendship growing with each meeting and developing into a romance.

This is a very quick ready, I flew through it. And it has some really touching moments as well as some scorching spicy scenes!

That was super sweet with a really lovely sharpness which stopped it becoming overly sentimental or cloying.

Inspired by last year's Christmas advert for the Norwegian Post Office When Harry Met Santa, which celebrated that 2022 marked 50 years since the country removed its illegality laws on homosexuality and which you can watch here - https://youtu.be/nDLumk_rQQw - this book follows Anthony from an 11-year-old through to his early 50s.

When he first meets Santa, it's completely by accident and their first few years of exchanges are simple and sweet, catching up on the things which have happened in Anthony's life, including the AIDS crisis.

But things slowly change and it becomes increasingly obvious there's not just a friendship here, but something that could be close to love. But how do you tell Santa you might be in love with him?

By interweaving a number of Santa origin stories alongside the Christian tradition of Saint Nicholas, K.C. Wells takes the reader on a sentimental and heartfelt journey as two men make the most of just one day a year.

With enough of an edge to prevent it turning into total schmaltz, this is a lovely festive read.

I think I would have felt differently going into this if I had seen the commercial first, so I highly recommend watching it beforehand if you can.

Other than that, um. Here are some thoughts I had.
- Wow, the POV of that 12 year old kid sure doesn’t sound like a 12 year old kid.
- Good thing they immediately let me know that Santa wasn’t fat, otherwise I would have thought Santa was fat which would be terrible of course. /s
- Okay, so this is Jesus’ Santa?
- Is this serious? /srs
- Why did it take you so long to ask your boyfriend what his name was?
- Okay, so Santa is a liar.
- Wow, the POV of that 50 year old man sure doesn’t sound like a 50 year old man.
- In front of the reindeer?!
- Are these characters shortsighted or do I just have an anxiety disorder?

Singular first-person POV.

I‘m so glad this book didn’t ended up sad, I was so scared it would😭.
No but honestly I never ever read a book or saw a book, about Santa Claus falling in love with someone.
This really was such a sweet and wholesome story, which I enjoyed immensely. I mean is there anything more Christmas like than that?
What I also really really liked was how innocent and inexperienced Santa was when it came to intimate matters, I mean I honestly thought he would be hella kinky and knows his things around but that wasn’t the case and I am glad for it. And Anthony was so precious and so patient with their whole situation and aaaa it was perfect.

This honestly was an absolutely beautiful Christmas story! To me, it showcases the magic that is Christmas. It's also an interesting and refreshing take on the Santa Clause origins (and life, lol).

K.C. Wells tells a story over several decades and shows how a friendship can grow and mature. It's sweet, sexy and everything I hoped for in a Christmas story. And when it ended, as I also do with the books that grab me, I wished for more. I wasn't ready to say "goodbye" to Anthony and Santa just yet!

My heart is incredibly full. This book was so sweet and beautiful, perfect holiday read. I loved reading about Santa finding his one and true love.

I also loved that the author got inspired on the comercial When Harry Met Santa, I always cry when I watch it. I also loved the story behind the cover of the book and the name of the MC. This was an amazing Christmas read and I 100% recommend. Toodles!

He may be a mythical person, but Santa is coming out as gay!! I absolutely loved this Christmas M/M Romance about a man named Anthony who falls in love with Santa Claus and they only meet each other on Christmas Eve night every year. As Anthony ages, he must make the toughest decisions with the man in the red suit who he desperately loves. A spicy, but heartwarming romance that made me smile, laugh, and cry. Would recommend for the holiday season!

I love that this was inspired by a Norwegian Postal commercial celebrating marriage equality. It was a powerful commercial, and this is a beautiful book.

It’s a neat story that starts when Anthony is 11 and takes us through to his 50s. That first Christmas was when discovered Santa was real. And year after year Santa returns to check on him, as time marches on, as Anthony gets older, they become friends. Anthony shares his secrets, his loves, and his losses. When he finally realizes he wants more from Santa, and that he loves Santa, he discovers Santa has fallen for him too.

But Santa is Santa, he doesn’t live in this realm, and he can only come to Anthony once a year. Is one night a year ever enough with the person you love? Especially when you’ve learned the secret heart of that man. There’s a way, but it will take big love to take the leap.

Even though is a story about Santa Claus, it has a realism to it that makes it beautiful but not candy cane sweet. It’s slow and tender.

No man alive has ever been faced with a choice like this

This is the second story I've read this year based on last year's Norwegian holiday commercial for the postal service. That commercial was everything. I loved both stories so much and they were each totally different!!!

The relationship formed by these two men was both heartwarming and heart-wrenching. This book contains all the feels.

Once I started it I couldn't put it down. I loved how the chapters were broken up by the progression of time and how the relationship between these characters became more.

Thanks for the great read!!!

The cover is stunning. 5 stars for that. The story had a lot of potential but there were also some plot holes and issues.

-In the early years I kept feeling like Santa was grooming him and it gave me the ick.

-If Santa could stop time on earth why did they return to his magical realm every year and wait for time to run out on earth to return?

-I also had a hard time believing the centuries of complete solitude. If Anthony was the first person he ever knew to see him, it feels less like falling in love and more like the only option available.

What a ridiculous and fun premise! I usually cringe at Santa romance plots. But I was immediately drawn into this story and I read it in one sitting. On actual Christmas at that. It takes place over almost half a century of Christmas Eves. Anthony has a chance meeting with Santa as a teenager which leads to a lifelong friendship. As the years go by, Santa and Anthony's feelings for each other grow and blossom. I also love the fresh but bittersweet Santa lore K.C. Wells gives the story. If you're looking for different kind of Christmas Romance then I definitely recommend checking this one out.

I absolutely adored this book! All the yearning and pining year after year as Anthony grew older …this book is so sweet. And it really feels good. I am glad the author decided to write it because I didn’t realize how badly I needed this story.
