Yes, I have a lot of books, and if this is your first visit to my amazon author page, it can be a little overwhelming. If you are new to my work, let me recommend a few titles as good places to start. I love my Dan Shamble, Zombie P.I. series, humorous horror/mysteries, which begin with DEATH WARMED OVER. My steampunk fantasy adventures, CLOCKWORK ANGELS and CLOCKWORK LIVES, written with Neil Peart, legendary drummer from Rush, are two of my very favorite novels ever. And my magnum opus, the science fiction epic The Saga of Seven Suns, begins with HIDDEN EMPIRE. After you've tried those, I hope you'll check out some of my other series.

I have written spin-off novels for Star Wars, StarCraft, Titan A.E., and The X-Files, and I'm the co-author of the Dune prequels. My original works include the Saga of Seven Suns series and the Nebula Award-nominated Assemblers of Infinity. I have also written several comic books including the Dark Horse Star Wars collection Tales of the Jedi written in collaboration with Tom Veitch, Predator titles (also for Dark Horse), and X-Files titles for Topps.

I serve as a judge in the Writers of the Future contest.

My wife is author Rebecca Moesta. We currently reside near Monument, Colorado.

As always, a gorgeous cover and beautiful artwork. I always love being immersed in the Dune world, and this new series is no exception. It picks up a few years after House Atreides ends: Jessica is 9 or 12, I forgot which, and Leto is fully ensconced as Duke on Caladan. There are still intrigues afoot with Shaddam, and his wife is about to be in for it from the looks of things. All very interesting, Duneian action and subterfuge with drawings that I love and different perspectives to enjoy and not get bored with. I can’t wait for #2! Dune will always be a favorite.

I really want to like Vol. 1 — I’m a big fan of House Harkonnen in general but something about this feels off. In my opinion, the writing could be tighter. In chapter 2 — “I used to be lean and muscular.” — that line just threw me off completely. Why not, “my body is not what it was” or “I’m a shell of my former self?” These are just nitpicks. The art style is fantastic and I really enjoy being taken to these different planets across the galaxy. The use of color is also on display when hopping from frame to frame. As a fan of Dune I have to see this journey through!

Dune: House Harkonnen
A massive world/universe that Herbert created. This backstory is full of drama and intrigue. The illustrations of characters are more like the book’s descriptions, not necessarily the movie images many of us perceive in our imaginations, so you have to keep remembering who is the character you are reading. Excellent graphic novel series. ****

#1 - “Secrets are an important aspect of power/ The effective leader spreads them in order to keep men in line.”

If I hadn't read all the Dune books and just picked this up I would be completely lost even though it is issue 1. I assume they will tie things together in subsequent issues but it is obvious that there will be little depth to the story.

The books are huge and very detailed while this comic adaptation is like reading the Cliff Notes version with pretty pictures.

Horrifying. Engrossing. Deeply thought-provoking. A breathtaking presage to the rise of Atreides.

Taide ja tarina upposi täysin. Uutta, mutta mukavasti tuttuja hahmoja.

This contains a lot of fun backstory, drama, and politics to the characters in the main novel. Bear in mind, there's a LOT going on, with a ton of characters and locations, so it can be a bit confusing at times. But I'll be continuing the series while waiting for Vol.3 of the graphic novel to come out.

CW: moderate violence, references to sex and STDs
