This story was a hard read because of the emotional abuse and cruel treatment of the MC, and witnessing the effects of those things on the character. I enjoyed seeing her development, and the ending blew me. The drama, many secrets, and revelations, made for an excellent read.
This was a sad, hard read for me. In fact, I only finished it because I knew somehow this young woman would find joy in herself and in life. The author so expertly conveyed the emotional turmoil of this young woman who used food as a coping mechanism. Her family treated her as a stepchild, including her sister. What parents favor one child over another and encourages and allows one to mistreat the other? Just shameful of this pastor and first lady. And it wasn't like they weren't hiding a multitude of sins that came tumbling from the closet they swept them in. Gluttony may be a sin but there were heartbreaking reasons behind Tierney's actions. This book was filled with morals, one of them being that you can be gluttonous over other things besides food. This was my first read by this author and I can't wait to read more of her works.
When you think of gluttony, your mind automatically goes to food. This book showed me that there are more ways to be gluttonous. You can have a sinful greed for many things that can all lead to destruction of one is not careful.
Tierney lived a hard, loveless life where she turned to food food comfort. It was hard to be sympathetic towards her initially, but once you read how she was degraded and mistreated by everyone who had a duty to protect and love her, it became understandable how she became a gluttony for snacks and fast foods.
Jeannette, Laylani, and the pastor all deserve the Hell that's coming to them as they all were beyond terrible. Do yourself a treat and read this story.
Wow! Wow! Wow! This second installment was so good! I literally wanted to tag myself in to fight Jeanetta, Louis and Laylani. Even given the circumstances, Jeanetta was a mother and she failed Tierney! Their secrets were spilling out like hot lava from a volcano! I'm thankful Broderick stepped in and showed her true, genuine live through all the pain. I just knew she was gonna get her happy ending but God's will saw otherwise. Great read
This is the first book I’ve read from the author. I like the perspective from which the story is told & how all the right details weave together.
I won’t tell the story, but I will say there is morality, relatability, and empathy you’ll feel toward some characters of this story. I definitely will be checking out more books from this author
The ending was very disappointing. It was bittersweet and so unexpected, although overall, it is a good read. I’m hesitant about reading the rest of the series, but I will.
Poor Tierney, forced to live with such evil people! Thankfully Broderick came along when he did! It was sad how she was treated. Laylani was a real piece of work as was Markella, they both met terrible fates, one murdered, one in jail, and in the end Jeanetta did what she set out to do end her daughters very often existence! This was an ok read. Just some things were overly dramatized.
