After struggling through the challenges of Prophethood in part one, and narrowly surviving an assassination attempt by the Quraysh, the Prophet is left with no choice but to leave his hometown; the place he was born, raised, and loved. Together with his best friend Abu Bakr, he migrates northwards in search of a new home. Now begins a new chapter in Prophet Muhammad's building a new community. A community based on the principles of fairness, justice, kindness, and worshiping the One true God alone. Though warmly received by many in the city, there are pockets of people who don't want him there and will try to undermine him at every step. And then there remains the issue of the Quraysh who only have one thing on their revenge. For the best reading experience, we recommend reading Part One of The Simple Seerah before starting this book.
the simple seerah series definitely makes an amazing gift for ur little (and not so little) friends and family! especially with the blessed month of ramadan and eid being upon us! will be eagerly waiting for part 3 to come out <3
Another fantastic Seerah work from Shaykh Asim Khan. This series will become the go-to Seerah collection for the next generation. It is beautifully narrated, detailed and gripping. This is a must-read and deserves a place in every home library.
"The Simple Seerah: Volume 2" is the second book by Ustadh Asim Khan and Toyris Mian that presents the life of RasulAllah (sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam) to a middle grade audience in a vivid storytelling style.
Full disclosure: I applied to receive a review copy of the book, and was accordingly sent one.
The version I got appears to be a potentially unedited print, likely the result of some technical mixup. There were a number of spelling and grammatical issues, and when I reached out to Ustadh Asim, he kindly requested my services to edit the manuscript. InshaAllah future prints will feature the corrected version!
Volume 2 opens with the Hijrah of RasulAllah (sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam) and Abu Bakr (ra) from Makkah to Madinah, and covers the battles of Badr and Uhud. Weaving in other notable anecdotes based on ahadith, such as the story of Zuhair, the marriage of Fatimah (ra) and Ali (ra), and the political machinations of Abdullah ibn Ubayy, this book seeks to bring the Seerah to colourful life. This volume also includes a few illustrations throughout, though none of them explicitly identify or feature RasulAllah or the Sahabah.
No rating on this since I probably can't be objective based on my own professional involvement, but I'd say that if you can get your hands on the edited version, then buy it!
Definitely a good resource for Islamic schools and madrasas!
Cannot wait for part 3! Again, written beautifully… Ahhh to be living in the times of early Islam, I wish I was there to witness it all. The urge to forget this dunya and meet the prophet asap is getting stronger with every page. He’s truly the GOAT!! Highly recommend these books!!!!
Reading seerah with emotions makes the experience 1000 times better. Makes us delve deeper and remember better.
There are some scenes that will make you say "Masha Allah, how do they even have that kind of confidence and trust?", "This is so heart-wrenching", and many more.
As you learn more about the Prophet’s character, you will love him even more. He will always find opportunities to show the beauty of Islam, even to the prisoners of war until they felt the urge to embrace Islam willingly.
I also gained deeper insights into the people around the Prophet: the companions and the enemies. You will understand the danger of the hypocrites, the heart-warming stories of the new reverts and the intense atmosphere of the great battles.
I chose to read Part Two even though I have not read Part One because I assessed that my knowledge of seerah after Hijrah is less than that of before Hijrah. Therefore, I wanted to learn more and remember better the events after Hijrah. However, if you wish to have the full experience, do read both Part One and Part Two. And I am certain that there will be more to come, as Part Two only covers events from Hijrah up to the Battle of Uhud.
The Simple Seerah is a must-read for everyone especially the youths who are interested to learn Islamic history and seerah of Prophet Muhammad.

Not long ago I completed part one on the journey of The Simple Seerah; only to find myself hurriedly picking up part two! I found it so heart breaking to see how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ endured so much, yet his faith in Allah did not deter him from his mission. His faith did not fault even for a split second despite facing such difficult battles. Some of the hardest, being against those he was bought up with.
I grew up knowing the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had been through a lot in life but after reading The Simple Seerah, I feel enlightened on some of the major battles both emotionally and physically fought by the Beloved ﷺ.
If anyone wants to get to know Āllah's Prophet in a way that's simple to follow, then the two of these books (The Simple Seerah Part 1 & 2) are a must have as a starting point (there’s Part 3 in the making)!
SubhanAllah ❤️ Very well written and easy to read and understand. Good for adults and children alike. Maashallah I learnt a lot from reading this that I hadn't known before. I'm looking forward to starting Book 3 as soon as it's published Inshallah.
Just as amazing as part one of 'The Simple Seerah'. In part two, it focuses mainly on the battle of Uhud, which involved heavy losses and martyrs. It values the lesson of standing firm and strengthening Muslims' faith. It's truly a bittersweet event.
So many admiring figures that stood in the battle, fighting against the hypocrites. I find it fascinating that I could feel the tension, anticipation and adrenaline of the written battle. I can't imagine living in that reality yet I envy them so much. After all, they are promised Paradise. Prophet Muhammad SAW's trust in his people is also another aspect to admire. And when he unexpectedly faces a betrayal, he doesn't waver at all. Subhanallah.
This series truly has taught me about instilling patience, having trust, increasing faith and to be mindful. I know I will learn even more as I continue this series.
There's just something about the way this series is narrated that is so, so engrossing. 100% would recommend for all to read, not just young readers (which it is great for) but even older readers as well.
I read the beginning of this book to my husband's grandpa who is not doing too well, and he thoroughly enjoyed having the story read to him.
Of course had to read the second seerah book and equally loved it. Amazing narrating, you really get a feel for what it was like to be alive back then and the hardships muslims had to face.
Part Two picks up with the migration to Madinah and the early days of building a new community. This part felt both emotional and inspiring because it focused so much on teamwork, leadership, and what it means to care for one another under pressure. The Prophet’s compassion and patience really shine here, especially as the community faces new challenges.
I found myself slowing down to think about how these lessons apply today. The balance between strength and mercy, faith and strategy, is written in such a relatable way. It also reminded me that growth often comes through hardship and trust.
The storytelling remains simple and engaging, and by the end I felt even more connected to the people around the Prophet. It’s a great continuation that builds on everything from the first book while adding more depth and emotion.
A lot of battles are talked about in this book as this was also a part of the life of the Prophet Muhammed (ﷺ). I had heard of these battles before (just their names) but now I know which one tooke place first and the context of the battles. Again, this book was written in a simple way perfect for beginners or non-Arabic speakers. The cover of this book is by far my favourite so far🌄
