Keys to a joyful life! Now in one volume, two classics from one of America's most beloved Bible teachers! "If you want to smile through your tears, if you want to rejoice through times of suffering, just keep reminding yourself that what you're going through isn't the end of the story . . . it's simply the rough journey that leads to the right destination." ?Charles R. Swindoll In "Laugh Again" and "Hope Again," Chuck Swindoll points the way to the joyful, abundant life you long for . . . using the epistles of Paul and Peter to illustrate the hope and joy that come from knowing Christ. Let's face it, it's a big, bad world out there?suffering, temptation, stress, and discontent bring us down and darken our days. But hope and joy are gifts from God, and you can learn how to tap into them to make every day a brighter one, no matter what happens!"
Charles Swindoll has devoted over four decades to two passions: an unwavering commitment to the practical communication and application of God's Word, and an untiring devotion to seeing lives transformed by God's grace. Chuck graduated magna cum laude from Dallas Theological Seminary and has since been honored with four doctorates. For his teaching on Insight for Living, he has received the Program of the Year award and the Hall of Fame award from the National Religious Broadcasters as well as multiple book awards.
I made many notes in these books as I read them. Most were about suffering. Suffering comes to the Christian and non- Christian alike, but the Christian has the Holy Spirit to comfort him. In Laugh Again, the author writes as if Christians are the only ones who suffer, yet in Hope Again his words are more like mine above. He does write in Hope Again that Christians should not expect an easy life just because they have become Christians. They will still suffer; they will now have a Savior to go through the suffering with them.
This was the main purpose I got out of the book. And in spite of the emphasis on suffering, I found much to laugh at in Laugh Again.
I found it witty. Facing pessimistic world due to aging & excessive worry, this book fills with actual story of an old couple with forever-young heart. I love the way the author describes his view toward life & circumstances. How hope is actually pragmatic rather than dogmatic.
