The conclusion to the gritty and angsty romance duet from USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author L A Cotton.
What should have been her safe haven quickly became Becca’s worst nightmare, and now the truth is out, everything changes.
The people she thought she could trust lied. The guy she thought cared about her kept her in the dark. And with no one to turn to, Becca retreats into herself as she tries to piece together who discovered her deepest, darkest secrets.
But when she finally figures it out, the past and present collide in ways no one saw coming.
Truth or dare is supposed to be nothing more than a bit of teenage fun …
Except, the game just got deadly.
*Truth or Dare is book 2 in the Truths and Lies duet. It should be read after book 1 Liar Liar. This is a revised and updated version, and contains mature themes suitable for readers 17+

It wasn’t what I expected. So much different compared to the first book in the series. The first installment was somehow mysterious and I loved it. I was so exciting to read this book but this one was so slow and I didn’t like it so much. Told in dual POV, 1st person. It’s the second installment in "Liar Liar" series and it must be read in order. Hope you enjoy it more than me!
Okay, so I have to say that when I read Liar, Liar (Book 1)... it had one of the best cliffhangers that I've read and we waited 4-5 long months to see the rest of this story. I was thinking in the first half of this book that the story wasn't quite what I expected...that is almost seemed too tame. It was helpful though, because it reminds you a lot of what happened in the first book and really concentrates on Evan and Becca. You find out a lot about Evan and his home life. When 50% of the book comes around, you better strap on your seat belt because it starts to get a little crazy. The title should give it away some, but I didn't really know what to expect. All the loose ends start to get tied. There are some tough decisions to be made for Becca between her past coming to light or hurting the ones that she cares about to keep it a secret. Really enjoyed this duet! It has everything that I enjoy... High school drama, angst, a little bit of watching over your shoulder. :)
The story contuines with the same tempo as the first one. I finaly know it all - the secrets. Maybe I'd love it a bit more if Becca returned what she was getting.
This was a fantastic conclusion for this duet! I absolutely loved this story I love all the answers we get I loved seeing Becca’s growth I really enjoyed watching her and Evans relationship evolve I loved their romance I loved that Evan went after what he wanted I just loved this story so much it’s a quick fast paced and easy read definitely recommend this whole duet !
What an angsty finale rife with emotion, heartache, healing, and some unexpected twists and revelations! LA Cotton weaves together lots of threads in an unexpected and riveting way- definitely not the finale I anticipated, but one that I gobbled right up.
After our cliffhanger, we’re left with Becca processing what she has seen to be as mistruths and manipulations by those close to her. While I found her reaction in book one a bit over the top, I do feel for the girl. While those around her are certainly well meaning (which I do wish she’d give them a bit of credit for), they have kept her at the edge of truth in order to protect and coddle her. And as someone who already feels like an outsider in her own word and who seems to carry a lot of guilt that we don’t fully understand just yet, I do understand how this intensifies the sense of isolation she feels as well as cracks the thin modicum of trust she felt she had with others. So, Becca isn’t forgiving easy, and her friends and the enigmatic Evan have a lot of groveling to do to get her to open back up. Not to mention, she’s still harboring a big secret and still being bullied.
I did find the beginning of this finale to move a bit slowly- we just wallow in Becca’s feelings for a while and see her go through the same cycle of refusing to hear apologies and explanations from those who seem to be genuinely wanting to apologize. This is where the young adult really comes out- in high school everything feels very dramatic and Becca feels betrayed, something that makes a lot more sense when we later learn the stakes of her secret. I do wish we’d gotten it earlier- I think it provides a much needed gravitas to the plot and her behavior, and we lose a bit of the mystery in this early part of the story because we’re so focused on the tensions with her friends. BUT, the good news is we finally get Evan’s POV, and that introduces a whole new voice full of baggage and emotion, and I loved having both.
While the early part moved a bit slowly, the ending of this is fantastic. Not only do I love the prolonged groveling and tender connection of Evan, but when Becca’s secret does come out, which we’d all probably guessed at this point, it comes with a bunch of additional surprises that I did NOT predict and that added layers to her entire experience. I loved how it all wrapped up, and I loved Evan and Becca working as a team more and more. It’s a fast and juicy read- with plenty of emotion and fun twists.
Truth or Dare was emotional too in so many ways! The angst, the longing and the hurt between Becca and Evan, damn. Eli was the best. His love, his innocence and faith in his brother are what helped him get their Becca back. I loved watching them finally be out in the open, no holds barred. Even though both of them still kept secrets from each other until the very end and that also made things super heart-aching for me.
Kendall was the worst in this book. I hated her with a passion, but finally learning what was behind her hate made me feel a little compassion (just barely lol) and yet hate her even more. But I did really enjoy how it all came to a head. It was surprising and yet made a lot of sense!
Overall, the duet was pretty amazing! I loved these two a lot. And their friend group, too. I loved Scarlett and my heart broke for her. I would love to see her get her own book and find happiness.

Truth or Dare is the second installment in the Truths and Lies Duet and picks up right after the events of book 1. This book has a slower pace and is different from Liar Liar as it focuses more on the relationship between Becca and Evan. I liked it, but at one point the back and forth between them was a bit tiring because it lasted until the second half of the story. After that, they didn't really care what others thought and stopped hiding their relationship and feelings for each other at school. Becca and Evan also didn't mind Kendall's threats, but in the end, it did impact them and their friends, and I wish they had confronted her instead of remaining passive. Learning Becca's secret near the end of the book felt a little anti-climactic to me, as I had been waiting for it throughout the book and book 1 as well. However, I loved that Evan got his POV! It was great to learn more about him and his family situation, and you could see that he was always on Becca's side, which was heartwarming. Overall, I enjoyed this duet, especially the relationship between Evan and Becca. They had a great development. I can't wait to read more of L.A. Cotton's work!

Becca and Evan’s story continues and after everyone has betrayed Becca in her eyes she keeps pushing everyone away. I understood why she felt that she couldn’t trust anyone because it seems they are all keeping things from her and I agree with her to some extent because it sucks to be hurt by those you got close to, yet at the same time she is still hiding a lot which is hypocritical for her to shut others out. Becca frustrated me at times with her incessant need to keep everyone away and letting her bully really corner her, I mean didn’t we learn from HP when He Who Shall Not Be Named pushed HP away from his friends only for the things to snap in the end?!? Anyways I was glad we got the secrets all out in the open and learned what everyone was hiding I just felt like it took too long of Becca’s back and forth to get us there. Overall, this duet kept me glued in from start to finish and I did enjoy it, I ended up loving Evan more than I thought I would and even if Becca frustrated me I still found her backbone to stick to her guns admirable.
I was so anxious to see how everything turned out for Becca. After book 1, I wasn’t sure what to think about certain things. It was wrong that Evan lied to Becca about Kendall. She had a right to know, but I felt when Kendall started her threats Becca should’ve told Evan. I really wanted Kendall to get what she deserved in the end, but she didn’t. I felt it was just kinda brushed off. Everything she did to people, and putting Becca in danger, but yet nothing happened to her. It’s like Evan keeping everything from Becca was just a waste, and really the “secret” wasn’t that big. That’s my only complaints really. But I loved the ending, Evan’s mom turning around and accepting Becca, and her mom even changed! It was good to see. And little Eli!! He was too cute.
What a brilliant conclusion to the Liar Liar duet. After book 1 ended on the most amazing cliffhanger, I have been eagerly awaiting the 2nd book. And LA Cotton didn't let us down...
All of the questions we had at the end of book one, were answered during the course of Truth or Dare
I was concerned at the beginning that I wouldn't remember what had happened in book 1, as it had been some time since I read it, but LA did a super job of giving us a recap, reminding us of events that happened, so before long it had all come back to me.
Yet again we have a story so full of twists and turns and some HUGE surprises along the way, meaning you simply won't be able to put this book down until you have read cover to cover.
A real page turner, full of more lies, more drama, more angst and many more secrets.
Both Evan and Becca are hiding things throughout this story, with a story line jam packed full of events and excitement.
Becca is still suffering at the hands of Kendall, only the stakes in this game have just been upped!!
I loved the dual PoV in this book, getting chapters from both Becca and Evan. This really helped with the flow and understanding of the story and I enjoyed seeing things from Evans perspective too.
If you've read book one, there is no doubt you need to read book 2. And if you haven't started this series then you need to. A brilliant mature YA story, full of all the high school drama you'd expect whilst delving a little deeper, a little darker, with plenty of romance and love thrown in too!!
After the ending of book I've been desparate for this book I had so many questions that I wanted answered. There were so many twist and turns and the action doesn't let up but we get more of the story in Evan's PoV which I was so happy about because he is such an amazing young man. Becca is hurt and feeling betrayed by Evan and Scarlett and now she feels like she is totally alone again but you can tell there is more to their actions than we as the reader know. We see more of Evan's struggles his home life puts such pressure on him but the way he deals with it just made me fall in love with him more. The way he treats Becca and his little brother Eli who is the most adorable little boy that you just want to squish is truly beautiful because when he loves he loves hard. I wanted Becca to forgive them quicker but once we learned about her last I understood where she was coming from, I also liked how Evan didn't give up on her. There are twist and turns and a reveal that I didn't guess, it keeps you guessing the whole way through. The story flows naturally between all the charcters and I really hope that some of the secondary charcters get there own stories. This was a well written story that tied up all those loose ends.

F****ING. LOVED. IT.
I have been excited for Truth or Dare, the second book in the Liar Liar series, to be released. I absolutely loved the first book and couldn’t wait to figure out more pieces to the puzzle that Ms. Cotton weaved us. Don’t forget… before beginning this story, make sure you read Liar Liar first! For those that read it months ago… no worries, Ms. Cotton does a fabulous job of reminding us where we left off.
I was immediately absorbed in the story from the first page. The story line is complex, unique and well-paced. The characters have so much depth and are so well developed. As soon as I thought I figured something out… nope. Ms. Cotton twisted us into another direction.
I love Evan and he is officially my new book boyfriend! {Although, I must tell you. My son’s name is Evan, which makes the romance scenes a little difficult for me. So, in my head, I call him Ethan. It makes it easier with the steamy scenes with Ella!} Okay, back to (Cough) Ethan/Evan. He is so incredible that I could probably write this whole review just of him! Sigh…
Ella is so strong and I admire her. She has been through a lot and I probably would have done the same as her.
A Must Read Series and one of my favorites for 2017!
Becca and her family moved to Creedence with the idea of starting new and having a fresh start. Her family gave up everything to come here, and she hoped everything would be amazing but of course being in public school and a lower economic area than she was used too was a big change. The thing though Becca thought she had made new friends and was fitting in great, that was until it was revealed that they knew her past and what she was running away from. Kendall has decided to make Becca's life hell as Becca has what Kendall wants - Evan Porter and if Becca doesn't get out of Kendall's way fast enough, she will start by destroying those around Becca first. I did wonder what Becca's big secret was and had hoped that it would be more revealed in detail with Book #2 but again like the first book it glanced over. We did, however, see how her life in Creedence figured into the equation and how they discovered what had happened back home. One of my favorite characters in this book though was Eli - who is Evan's four-year-old brother. I just wanted to pick him up and hug him tight and every scene he was in, and his dialogue made my insides mushy as I was like Awh :). If you are on the lookout for an edgy YA novel set in the life of a High Schooler with a Mean Girls twist, then check out Book #2 in the Liar Liar Series by L.A Cotton today.
Becca left us with more questions than answers in book 1, so this book couldn't have come quick enough.
What I thought would be answers right away followed by a new story was not that at all. We are thrown right back where we left off and there was no way to answer all my questions right away because I wasn't even asking the right questions!
This is all very cryptic and not helpful for someone who hasn't read book 1, but if you have already read Liar, Liar, than you understand. This duet was so littered with intrigue and mystery that you have to pay attention and you have to keep track. I even recommend rereading book 1 before reading Truth or Dare because there is so much to remember and keep straight.
LA Cotton's writing is amazing in these books. What is complicated, she makes feel simplified by not over dramatizing the details. This is a high school book and it feels like you are back in high school while reading. You remember all the bullies and the importance of reputation and to stay out of the rumors and lies.
A remarkable conclusion to Liar Liar Duet. Fasten you're seatbelts & get ready for the roller coaster ride of your life as we follow Becca & Evan as they navigate through many secrets & lies. A gripping suspenseful novel that will keep you at the edge of your seat & the pages turning. With compelling characters that will captivate you & your heart. Supporting character's add a good mix & blend well. Absolutely in love with Evans four year old brother Eli as he is so adorable & best supporting character. With a jaw dropping twist that will leave you dazed. A sweet & sexy decadently delicious novel that I devoured. A perfect ending with a sweet epilogue. I'm so sad tissue box next to me to see it end.A must read novel/series that will leave you craving more. I hope the supporting characters get their own stories.
After reading the first book that ended with such a cliffhanger, I couldn’t wait to start the next one.
I loved that we got to read Evan’s POV. I just love him. He has such a tough life but manages to get through it and still is capable of love. That is really admirable.
The only thing that really irked me was the lack of communication between all our characters. Maybe I would be way to naive of thrustworthy but if you really love someone you need to be able to communicatie about everything. Communication is key and secrets are, well in this case, almost deadly. But hey, otherwise we wouldn’t have had the storyline, would we?
In this book you learn what happened with Becca and “HIM” but you had enough tid bits revealed throughout the story that you can predict what happened.
I enjoyed this story, it was an easy read. I finished it within four hours.
Brilliant conclusion. Loved hearing from Evan's point of view. Although sometimes I wanted to slap Becca and say no, don't do that, she had her reasons. Loved the twist at the end - totally didn't see that coming!
Wow.. what webs we weave. High school is brutal!! This book was all that I wanted it to be and more. I got all my questions answered and more. Great read and a great second book.
I loved Liar Liar, the secrets, the twists and turns and the suspense continues on in book 2.
All is revealed eventually, why Becca was forced to uproot and move to another school, why She's hated and bullied by Kendall.
The not knowing was frustrating, it was prolongued and I envisioned the plot going differently to how it did or the reasons to be more scandalous?
Kendall, I still didn’t understand, most of her behaviour I found didn’t make sense to me, she was more than a school bully and had played these sort of cruel games before, basically comes across as psychotic that no one did anything about? you have a group of friends that have all been her target at some point but life goes on? I didnt feel I got closure on that or understood especially with her being a significant character in the scheme of things spanning over two books, but I saw the conclusion, the end and new beginning of Becca and Evans journey which was enough.
I'm thinking out loud, I think I was hoping for more But....
Liar Liar and Truth or Dare is a good highschool romance with suspense, moments of hotness, twists and turns told in dual pov's.
What an amazing story! I was left ragged and anxious at the end of book one, waiting to see just where this story was headed. The plot was full of twists and turns that I could not have predicted. The action and catty drama continued to surprise me and shock me as the plot thickened and the lies and secrets began to pile up. While Evan had secrets of his own, Becca's secrets and black hole of lies threatened to eat her alive. Both of them felt trapped in their different situations. The pain they both went through in pining for each other was palpable. The stress and turmoil of everything going on around them both in their lives was a physical weight I could feel bearing down on me. I really felt for them. The action toward the end was heart-stopping. I could not put this book down once I started it! I love this couple together. Evan is an amazing guy that loves with his whole heart. The way he takes on responsibility and supports his family in more ways than he should have to is inspiring.
I highly recommend this duet (Liar, Liar and Truth or Dare) to any of my readers across all genres. I think this set is a great mix of everything and would be enjoyed by all romance loving readers 💜
I have been looking forward to reading this for a while now, about 7 months actually. I read Liar Liar back in November so I had to do a quick re-read of that as a refresher. Well, it was supposed to be a quick re-read but I got sucked right back into Evan and Becca's story. I'm glad I did although the first part of this book kinda gives a recap of what went on.
I went from not being sure about Evan in book 1 but getting more of his POV in this book, I got to know him better. I loved his character. With Becca though, she had me so frustrated at times. I really wished I could have reached into my kindle and shook her a bit. Heck, there was a few times I wished I could have reached in and throat punched one character in particular. I won't even utter that poisonous name. I love when characters evoke such emotions out of me. It just goes to show their depth of character and the complexities of the story.
And what a a complex story this was. The twists and turns and the ups and downs made this one hell of a roller coaster ride. This was a great conclusion to the duet.
LA Cotton is the bomb. I love her writing. I can't wait to read what she comes out with next.
I've been patiently waiting to read this book! It was everything I expected and more. Though I definitely didn't see the ending twist coming! The one thing I was excited about was finally getting to see Evan's POV. Liar, Liar was all in Becca's POV so Evan was mysterious and brooding. Reading his POV in Truth or Dare really helped put it all into perspective. Not to mention I love reading the male POV. Male's in general are so brooding and rarely express their emotions so I think reading them adds to my enjoyment. Reading about Evan's struggles, not to mention his love for Becca made me fall for him more. He really was something special, even if he didn't think so. I loved Becca in Liar, Liar. But she bothered me in this book. I wish she had been stronger, more trusting, and resistant to Kendall's harassment. I just kept wanting her to punch Kendall in the face! Probably not a great idea, but I so wanted that to happen. Overall a great book that you most definitely have to read! You'll never expect the twist either!! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy for an honest review*
This novel gave all the answers to the questions left lingering after the epic cliffhanger from Liar Liar. It starts with Becca left dealing with the after effects of being lied to by everyone she thought she could trust. She pulls away from all her friends, including Evan and tries to get through her final year alone.
We get equal POV this time round from Evan and it makes things so much clearer as we learn what has been going on from his perspective. He just wants to protect Becca and also try to be there for his mum and little brother Eli. He is a selfless guy trying to do the right thing and really wants to make things work with Becca.
Kendall continues to make life a misery for Becca and things escalate when the past Becca thought was over comes back to rear it's ugly head. In a horrible twist of truth or dare, Becca must decide if she can live with the consequences of hurting those she loves to protect herself. Great twist towards the end and a stunning conclusion to this two part series. I recieved an ARC for my honest review.
What a great ending to this two part series. I was totally immersed in this one. I needed to know more about Evan because I wasn't so sure about him going in and you get his POV in this one. I really started to like him more, and slowly but surely I ended up loving him. At times Becca drove me nuts, I was like alright already get over it and move on girly!!! But alls good, she was perfect with Evan.
Things I loved so much about this, its a swoony read, Evan's little brother is way too cute and a perfect addition to the story, and it was so so easy to get lost in. I love L.A. Cotton's books they just seem to get better and better as she writes and releases! I feel like she knows how to twist a story and hold your attention, but in the day of old kind of way, like back when NA books were just getting popular and we couldn't get enough of them. Her books are like that, I want to stay inside them and have them never end!
Fans of NA you'll for sure love this series and you wont regret it.
Finally, we get some answers and boy are they a doozy!
The follow up novel to Liar Liar by L. A. Cotton has arrived and you are in for quite a ride. When we last left off, Evan and Scarlett left Becca feeling betrayed and alone. Truth or Dare picks up and the drama and secrets are in full force. Cotton put in some twists and turns I never saw coming. This book (and series) really kept me on my toes. The emotional content to the story is spot on. I could feel the betrayal and the hurt Becca experienced and when it was finally revealed why she had to go and the whole back story with Kendall... phew! These kids are crazy! I loved that we got more from Evan's POV. He is a gem with one of the biggest hearts I have read in awhile. You can't help but love him.
Grab the conclusion and get your answers! It is a wild ride!
This is the conclusion to the Liar Liar series and although you "could" read it as a standalone you'd be at a disadvantage understanding the characters and the overall story. Nonetheless, the writing was brilliant so the story was easy to follow. The plot was exciting, and full of twists and turns. The suspense, the build up and all the emotions are front and center as Becca must confront her past in order to move forward albeit in a twisted game of "truth or dare." After all she's been through she's afraid to trust and forgive for too long. But... all the questions are answered and I want more! I would have easily given this read 5 stars except I couldn't understand Kendall's role and her motive. For a high school romance, this book is an outstanding example of good writing, smart twisted plot and full of surprises relevant for today's teens.
Truth or Dare concludes Becca and Evan’s story - continuing from where Liar Liar left us.
I loved this duet overall. I sometimes found the pace of this second book a little slower than the first, especially during the first half of Truth or Dare. However, I loved that my questions were answered and we discovered the secrets that Becca and a few other characters were hiding.
If you haven’t already handed over your heart to Evan, you certainly will by the end of this instalment. I can’t not mention Eli – he definitely steals the show at times.
For readers who enjoy an angsty romance story with lots of twists and turns then this one is right up your street! This duet is one I would definitely recommend; I only wish I had enjoyed this second book as much as I did the first.
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*** Well L.A. Cotton has done it again! Another amazing book from this talented author! I was going crazy from the cliff-hanger in the first book and could not wait for Truth or Dare to come out. So I busied myself with other reading other books and then BAM ... it was finally here. I dove right into the book like I was dying for thirst of Evan and Becca's story and Lianne did not disappoint. I was shocked from so much throughout this book! From Becca's determination, to Evan's intensiveness, to Kendall's cattiness, and to ___'s madness! This book was amazing from start to finish. I am sad to see Becca and Evan's story end, but I am hoping this will open more stories from here. Maybe even a story Kendall's story...
