The Wrong Catch

Rate this book
In this third book of the CATCH series, Greyson presents trophy fish as the new characters in his stories about dating the wrong men.

Word spread like wildfire after Veronica Dawson’s Sunday testimony when she shared her dad’s fish stories describing the wrong guys she dated: the Catfish who loves garbage, the Sturgeon who likes to nibble, the Salmon who hates getting caught, and the Pufferfish who is handsome until agitated.
As more women heard the stories, they couldn’t get enough and wanted more. Some commented, “I can’t believe I dated all those fish characters.” While others responded, “The use of fish personalities for men was genius.”

In response to the demand Greyson and Veronica presented a conference, but this time, it focused on the WRONG CATCH. There, Greyson introduces four new fish analogies based on an elite group of trophy fish popular for fishing tournaments, a multi-million-dollar business. The 4 stories bring together the Black Bass powerful fighters, and the Pike fish, also strong and popular with anglers. To win a trophy fish anglers must prepare for a long fight, as these fish will fight relentlessly to avoid getting caught, including flying above water to knock the hook out of its mouth. Most times the fish wins, tiring out the angler. But if the angler wins, he earns bragging rights having won the fight, besides winning thousands of dollars.

On land, a trophy feels entitled, even when his financial status does not match the title. He does not see the woman as the prize and sees only himself and what he wants. These guys believe anyone in their inner circle is like an extra in a movie and lucky to be around them.

The question Greyson challenged the women to answer: If the guy is a trophy, what does that make the woman called to be his prize (crown)? Find out more in The WRONG CATCH.

Dr. Velma continued her writing on love and relationships with her short Kindle story, My 70s Love Story, & found in the Back in the Day Anthology. She shares dating from the 70s perspective, when dating was for fun, and guys treated girls more respectful. She jokes about her “husband to-be prayer list” and how God changed some of the details in the man he sent her. Dr. Velma uses her inspiration from her own blessed marriage of 48+ years to her high school sweetheart and does not hesitate to be transparent when she shares her personal journey, which is rich with tips for women prior to saying “I do”.

Her 2020 release is a Christian fiction book entitled A Place Called Down-Why Christians Suffer. She deviates from a relationship-focus topic to bring us into her own testimony of tests, trials, and tribulations, to offer insight into a place of suffering common to us all. She shares why God allows it and how He is in control the entire time. She is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW).

She returns to her love of writing about mate-seeking, dating-relationships with her upcoming book entitled, The CATCH No One Wants-Discover the husband you deserve through intentional dating, releasing in 2022.

This is the third book in the series. It leaves off when Veronica and Pastor Grayson have a Women's Conference for some more fish analogies. In book one, the fish were catfish, sturgeon, salmon, and pufferfish. This book discusses The Pike Twins and The Bass Brothers. There were some surprises in the book that I think you will enjoy. This book has helped me figure out some of the negative characteristics of men not looking for when dating with intent. The book will help other single women to date with intent. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and have taken a lot of notes to help me in this process. I recommend this book to single women who want to date with intent. I give this book five stars.

Who Would Have Thunk It?

Dr. Velma Bagby’s use of parables and fish analogies is nothing short of genius. I learned that I should date with the intention of getting married. Some of the different types were hilarious and some downright despicable. Interestingly enough, while reading The Wrong Catch, I encountered a large mouth bass and I recognized it because of this book! This is a great series for single or married people. I definitely recommend it.

A short powerful book which should be read by all young ladies and gentlemen. This story shows the mistakes we make in dating as it gives tools to correct those mistakes. As a senior I wish this type of book and classes were available in the late 60's and early 70's, the baby boomer generation would have less divorces. I look forward to reading book 4 in the series.

I highly recommend this book for those who are dating, divorced, etc. Here, we are introduced to more fish. The author uses different characters of the fish compared to the type of men that you date. Funny and true. Many of us had dated the wrong men. After reading both books, you will walk away with knowledge of knowing who not to date.

If you thought the Catch no one wants was a breath taker, and the homework guide is a daily refreshment of Gods love, grab this one for more clarity of how to date with intent to marry! This is like the secret ingredient you need to build yourself and love yourself into the right situation by remaining consistent in your faith, using the WORD OF GOD as your compass, and loving yourself enough to know that GUARDING YOUR HEART IS the right way to avoid the wrong catch! Dr Velma once again uses her fish analogy to break it down for us and I couldn’t be more entertained and intrigued. I plan to use these chapters for my tools to help women overcome but also to help them to realize a lot of times they can be the problem too! What is it about them that keep attracting the WRONG CATCH? Find out with this book!
