Rate this book
A good cop is killed and Detective Sarah Brown is assigned to the case. Nothing seems right from the get-go.

She and her partner of ten years, William Dougan, both highly decorated officers of the Falcon City Police Department, find a promising lead and run it down. After going where the evidence leads them they arrest the suspect. As the truth emerges they find the evidence faulty and the accused innocent. The product of a wild goose chase.

They resume the chase to hunt down the thugs responsible, chasing suspects through the streets and finding baffling surprises at each turn, all while a sinister hand manipulates the scene in the background, unbeknownst to our heroes. Sarah Brown and the Shadow - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

An unlikely murder suspect is sought for the murder of a police officer, in Sarah Brown and the Shadow, Audrey Walker's exciting series prequel.

Sarah and her partner Detective William Dougan have to work out what the truth of the matter is, and fast, yet as more suspects are uncovered, why does William start acting out of character?

Who else is hiding something incriminating?

How are the Brotherhood involved?

The tension and mystery rise, and Sarah is deceived in thinking the case is concluded.

How do things turn out next?

One Good Cop, More Than One Dirty Cop, and One Wrongly Accused Suspect!

Barbara Kelley

Sarah Brown and the Shadow is the Prequel to the Sarah Brown Police series, written by Audrey Walker. Personally, I think prequels should be released prior to book 1 of a series, but I can understand why the prequel was released afterwards, in this situation. If you have already read books 1-5 of this series, you will know to what I am referring. This prequel is about Detectives Sarah Brown and her partner of ten years, William Dougan, two highly-decorated police officers, and their search for the murderer of another highly-decorated and well-liked police officer. The book goes back and forth between viewpoints: (scenes with Sarah and William; and scenes between the Police Captain and William). In the 5 book series, Sarah was in nearly, if not all, of the scenes. A teenaged petty thief is caught and accused of killing the officer, but Sarah thinks they have the wrong perpetrator. Sarah knows this kid is a petty thief, but he's not a murderer. If you've read the series, you know about The Brotherhood. This group is mentioned in the prequel, allowing the reader to think they might have something to do with the murder. This prequel has one truly good cop struggling to bring justice to a wrongly accused suspect. I gave this prequel a 5 star rating and hope there will be many more Sarah Brown mysteries to come. I received an advanced reader copy from BookFunnel and have posted my honest review voluntarily.

Audrey Walker writes incredible thrillers that keep you engaged from the opening pages. This book is a prequel to the Sarah Brown series and answers some background questions. When Sarah and her detective partner, William get assigned a case with her captain telling them they want this case solved and closed asap. It is the murder of one of their own. While investigating, they arrest Hector Drew who William and Captain Hackett believe is the murderer and they want this case closed. But Sarah has her doubts because things went too easy, too fast in this case and she continues to investigate contrary to what her captain and even her partner thinks she should do because it isn't necessary. But, she finds another suspect she is sure is the murderer. This is a page turner with many twists and turns, and things that make Sarah questions what is going on. This is a page turner from the beginning where you are grabbed and never let go! I love this series and this prequel and recommend this book and the whole Sarah Brown series who want a well written set of thrillers that keep you engaged and wanting more. I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The story begins with Sarah and William at the scene of a murdered cop. Based on information that they received, they had the name of the suspect. The next day they went to arrest him and the suspect charged William. Back at the station they were interviewing the suspect and Sarah was convinced that he was innocent, but William felt they had their killer. When they went back to look at the suspects trailer, they discovered another person and Sarah wound up giving chase. Using information that they got from running the license plate, they went and arrested this person.

Sarah at this point felt that the latest person arrested was the guilty party while William was still addiment that the first suspect was responsible. After Sarah looked at a report that the murdered officer did as well finding a note in addition, Sarah realized that the cop was taking funds from a cartel. With this information she felt that she had enough data that supported her theory that the person that she was convinced did it.

To discover why William was so insistant that the first suspect was guilty and what role the captain played, then you need to read this book. It is a great lead-in to the series.

This was a fast paced and intriguing thriller. Sarah Brown and her partner, William, track down the suspected killer of officer Michael Lowe. But Sarah, unlike William, thinks the facts don't add up to Hector Drew being Lowe's killer. Another criminal, named Caswell is added into the mix. Caswell is a more likely suspect for Lowe's killing than Drew, according to Sarah. Why are William and Captain Hackett so sure that Drew is the killer of Lowe? Read this book and find out. I highly recommend this book to other thriller readers. I received an ARC of this book, and the opinion expressed is strictly my own.

A officer named Michael Lowe is murdered. They suspect Hector Drew ,but detective Sarah Brown and detective William Daugan doesn’t believe this is so Captain Hackett wanted the case solved fast. William her partner and the Captain are hiding the real reason that they are framing Hector a petty thief. There is another petty thief Rick who is questionable. The Brotherhood is behind all these activities. There is a lot of suspense and danger. A fast pace , thrilling read which keeps you entertained till the end. I am on the ARC term and I leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.

Detective Sarah Brown and her partner Detective William Dougan begin working a case of a murdered police officer. As they investigate, her partner and her captain pressure her into believeing that a small time petty thief Hector Drew is the killer. Sarah follows her instincts and finds evidence to free Hector. Sarah is unaware of the danger she is in. The very people Sarah trusts the most are betraying her. This was an intriguing read and hooked me with the fact that her own partner is working against her and hints of a secret group called The Brotherhood. I'm looking forward to read the next book in the series.

Sarah and her partner go to the scene of a murder. It’s a police officer. The only lead in the killer is a license plate that is in the name of a petty thief. The chief is eager to get this case closed so after the person is arrested he is determined to try and convict him. The more she looks at the case the less she thinks he is guilty. She cent understand why her partner and the chief are do set on putting. This person away. She has hood reason to suspect it is a set up I received an arc for a honest opinion I always know with this author it’s going to be a hood series.

Events in the story presumably take place some time before Sarah Brown And The Cabin.
Sarah has s gut feeling about what is going on when a young, petty thief is accused of murdering one of her colleagues but everyone tries to persuade her she is wrong.
In this story we see a slightly softer, more thoughtful side to Sarah, but she is still determined to get to the truth.
This is the sort of plot Audrey Walker writes with such prolific success.

Sarah Brown and the Shadow: A totally gripping female detective Thriller Short Story Prequel packed with Mystery and Suspense (Sarah Brown Series), my nineteenth read from author Audrey Walker. A 60-page short read, the Sarah Brown prequel. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

A puzzling conviction

A young miscreant is convicted of a crime. The evidence points to him and the police want to close the case. Sarah is not sure and does not want an innocent man to go to jail. Where will it lead her and will her thirst for justice and curiosity be fatal? A gripping and suspenseful page turner.

Deception

Detective Sarah Brown is assigned to investigate the murder of a fellow police officer. What she doesn’t know is that her captain has told her partner who to blame for the shooting. Sarah feels a different person did it, so she sets out to find the real killer. Well written and hard to put down.

A highly respected police officer is found murdered, and it appears that the suspect is well known to police. However, all is not as it seems and Sarah is determined to get at the truth. Unfortunately, by doing so, she has made herself a target.

Detective Sarah Brown & her partner are given a case that has Sarah skeptical. As they persue the case, it seems there are obstacles that are leading them to a different suspect than the original ones. Can she find the answers? A fast paced read that doesn’t disappoint.
