The beating of my heart is more rapid as I slowly begin to take steps toward the light. The darkness around me is intimidating and overbearing because of the unknown. A big part of me wants to turn back, but I know that this is the time that I must face my truth, deal with it so that I can no longer be held captive by my feelings. Although I dread to face what I have suppressed for years, I continue to move forward. We all have held on to things that have hindered our growth. Things from our past that we continue to replay in our minds. This book is intended to help you face and accept your past, let go of past hurts and move into a new found freedom. My hope is that it will help you gain insight to different perspectives. As you turn the pages and read though the chapters such as Held Captive, Blindsided and poems like Redefining Me, you will uncover some things that you have suppressed for years. There is healing in letting go and Truth be Told we all desire to simply be free.
CATHERINE SHAW is a pseudonym used by Leila Schneps. She is a mathematician and academic and writer of murder mysteries. She lives in Paris, France.
After taking an undergraduate degree in pure mathematics at Harvard University, Leila Schneps moved to France definitively in 1983, where shortly after obtaining her Ph.D., she was hired by the French National Scienctific Research Centre as a researcher in mathematics. Over twenty years of doing maths, teaching, and mentoring graduate students, her interests have widened far beyond the horizons of pure algebra to aspects of mathematics - such as probability and statistics- that play a more visible role in the world around us, and to the way in which people absorb, reject or react to mathematics.
At the same time, a lifelong passion for mystery stories led Leila to try her hand at writing one herself, eventually leading to a series of "Cambridge Mysteries" published by Allison & Busby.
