Malorie is a workaholic, and her relentless overtime is finally about to pay off – she is next in line for a promotion at her law firm, has a sweet house-sitting gig in a multimillion-dollar property, and is finally ready to really take charge of her life. But everything changes when she receives a strange package from her father and discovers that he has gone missing. Now, Malorie must use her wits to follow her dad's trail into a world of danger, mystery, and wonder.
The Ruby is set in a world we can only dream of. Extreme wealth and power are at play and the heroine, Malorie, has become engaged to an extremely wealthy older man, has received an egg-sized ruby and her father, a jeweller, has disappeared and his house ransacked. To add to this, her grandparents provide a snippet that the ruby may be linked to her mother's disappearance. A discovery leads towards Boa Vista in Brazil, and without hesitation, Malorie books a flight and heads off in search of her father.
The rest is a fast-paced romp as international mystery, romance and adventure play out. C.A. Cordova tells an engrossing story and this would make an enjoyable holiday read.
