Wolf Lust
is the 5th addition to the Outcast Pack Series by TJ Nichols. This series follows a group of shifter who were all outcasted by their traditional packs for being Queer.

Simon and Miles became fast friends when Simon joined the pack after divorcing his wife. During a pack friend's wedding, Miles growing feelings for Simon come to a head and he can't hide his lust. And after a few glasses of wine and the closeness of dancing together, Simon can't ignore said lust. But will a drunken hook up between them ruin their friendship, or is it the start of something great.

This wasn't lust. It was love. He'd fallen for his best friend. And he didn't understand how it had happened, only that it had snuck up on him when he wasn't looking.

This short and sweet friends to lovers shifter romance. Simon and Miles are both charming and kind. Both struggle with insecurities when it comes to relationships. Miles thinking his hands on career and lack of formal education make him not good enough. Simon has never fallen "in love" before, no butterflies in the tummy or crushes, that he's afraid he's broken. Mile's does mention that to Simon that he may be aromantic and while that definitely seems the case he doesn't jump to label himself. The physical aspect of their relationship is filled with decent steam while they tried to figure out how to be more than best friends.

3,5 stars for a friends-to-lovers story, which was a bit different than other such stories.

Both MCs were interesting and unsure about themselves. I liked that they appreciated and respected each other as friends and went from there to a relationship.

This series is not some of T.J. Nicholson best work, but I like the characters and enjoy every book.
So, now I wait for the next one

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.5 stars

Wolf Lust is the fifth book in T.J. Nichols’ Outcast Pack series, featuring a group of mostly gay wolves who have formed their own pack after being kicked out of or made unwelcome in their home packs. While the first three books were more tied together with an overarching plot about the pack, the most recent two stand more independently, though there is still character crossover here from earlier books. I liked the chance to reconnect with this group and the tie in to Drew and River’s wedding, though we don’t see much of the actual event here. I also enjoyed both Simon and Miles and found them appealing characters. The story touched on some interesting elements, such as Simon coming to terms with the end of his marriage and his feelings of guilt over marrying a woman he didn’t love. I really appreciated seeing the way he and his ex got along so well and how supportive she was over Simon’s new relationship. The story also just starts to explore the idea that Simon may be aromantic, something we don’t see often in this genre.

Book 5 in the Outcast Pack series about a pack of queer shifters, this book showcases Simon and Miles' romance. They've been friends since Simon joined the Outcast pack after divorcing his wife.

I quite liked the romance, and their obliviousness to some extent, but again I wished that this book has just delved a little deeper into the issues it tried to discuss. I also wished that there had been less waffling and more honest communication.

Wolf Lust is the fifth novel in the Outcast Pack series, and Nichols has done it again.
Wolf Lust is an addictive, engaging friends-to-lovers romance, with some family angst thrown in for good measure.

I'll admit, I was a bit thrown with the timeline at first, because Simon and Miles are part of the original Outcast Pack, and with the last book being the first of a new trilogy in that series, I'd mentally moved away from their history together.
The Prologue goes way back, 1 year, to when Sam first brought his husband Mark into the pack, then Ch 1 is ahead to Drew and River's wedding. I think the "12 months ago" threw me, because so much has happened in the series, I'd forgotten it had all taken place in the last year.

Miles and Simon are our focus for this book, and they're both a bit of an emotional wreck. Miles broke up with his human boyfriend six months ago, replaced by a roommate he's unhappy with. He feels inferior because he's a brickie who hated school. Meanwhile, Simon is a teacher, recently but amicably divorced from Jenny. They have 2 adorable kids together, but Simon's never so much as felt a crush never mind love.

Together, Miles and Simon have been close friends since joining the Outcast pack. Simon helped Miles through his breakup, while Miles helped Simon adjust to being openly gay and single.
Their friendship was precious, and the way they sensed even a slight shift in each others moods was lovely. But when the wedding reception leaves Miles desperately trying to avoid his growing attraction to Simon, and reminds Simon of his failed marriage, friends become more than friends.

And then it gets awkward. Miles is clearly in love with Simon and has been for a while, whereas Simon feels inadequate with the added burden of baggage in the shape of an ex-wife and kids.

Watching them navigate from friends to friends-with-benefits, to lovers, to boyfriends was a real, emotional journey. They each had their own hangups and doubts. But I loved that they communicated! They didn't hide from what was happening, even when that would have been easier. They both valued their friendship so much that they talked, even about the hard stuff.

It was great to see them navigate their way through the trials of becoming lovers, introducing Miles to Simon's ex-wife and kids, and mingling their friendship with family duties.

I also loved how Simon struggled with his feelings for other people, such as Jenny and Miles. That Miles tried to help him understand, introducing Simon to the idea of being aromantic.

It was super cute to see Mytho being used as a TV show, too.

I'm really looking forward to Justin's story, in Wolf Hunt.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I enjoyed this book. This is the first series that I’ve read by TJ Nichols and I’m definitely going to be reading more from them in the future. I also thought that it was another good addition to the Outcast Pack Series, that is set in the same world as Familiar Mates Series which I haven’t read yet. I enjoyed Miles and Simon’s story. It’s a friends to lovers story which I enjoy. I thought the chemistry between them is undeniable.

The weirdness between them after they crossed the line in a half a*sed sloppy drunken hookup after Drew and River’s wedding seemed really realistic and trying to work through what to do next. I can understand Simon’s confusion and apprehensive of not wanting to hurt or lose Miles, since he’s just wired a bit different than everyone else. I’m pretty sure that Miles hit the nail on the head when he suggested that Simon should look up what Aromantic means, and see if it makes sense to him.

I really like how Simon and his ex-Jenny are still friends even after the reason Simon left and asked for a divorce. They co-parent their children George and Olivia and are happy to introduce their new parents to each other. Even if Simon was freaking out a bit because he realised that Miles loves him and he doesn’t feel the same. Just like with Jenny. Wow, what an ending and it made me even more interested in reading the next book. I’d recommend this book, series, universe and author to others.

Sweet slow burn friends to lovers

Miles and Simon have been part of the Pack through the series but this time, they're in the spotlight. Best friends who finally realise that there might be more to their friendship than either of them suspected.
I loved how comfortable they were as friends, enjoying each other's company, at ease together. Both had their own insecurities when it came to love and relationships, but once the spark was lit between them, each one opened up and they communicated all their doubts and fears, which made such a pleasant change. Miles and Simon were so good as a couple, even when they weren't actually a couple. This was a slow burn but the pacing was just right, and their story was believable once we got to know them.
There were cameos from the Pack members, but just as walk-on parts, and this time it was a happy occasion that brought them together. The troubles that the Pack had been experiencing were absent in this book but it seems to have been a brief reprieve. Normal service appears to have resumed in the next book so fingers crossed for the Pack once again.
A three and a half star read rounded up to four, because they actually acted like grown ups.

Wolf Lust is book 5 in the Outcast Pack series and follows Miles and Simon from their first meeting and on to their happy ever after. It runs parallel to some of the events from the previous two books without giving away very much. They become best friends but things get complicated as they have feelings for each other that go beyond friendship.

Miles breaks up with human boyfriend and spends all his spare time with Simon. Simon appreciates the support he gets from Miles and the other members of the Outcast pack following his divorce and coming out as gay. A pack wedding takes the two guys’ friendship to another level. They both have to reassess their own worth. Simon does not trust his feelings beyond the lust side and Miles does not think he has much going for him.

This is a beautifully told story which does not ignore the effect their relationship will have on the people around them. Simon has children and an ex-wife who remains a friend but wants to move on with her life. How they all come to terms is well handled. An intense and emotional journey of a book. A must read.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I’m already a fan of this series and loved this next opposites attract/friends to lovers installment. I liked how different Simon and Miles are and how they became friends first.

This is a short, sweet, read without a lot of angst, and a perfect balance for some of the danger in previous books. I loved the support and friendship of the rest of the pack, and seeing some of those characters again.

I liked that Simon and his ex, Jen, are still good friends, and talk a lot because of their kids. Miles and Simon’s attraction and dance at Drew and River’s wedding is sweetly awkward. I thought Simon’s fear of losing his friend, and the pack, yet feeling lonely was realistic and nicely balanced against his wanting Miles. I loved how clueless he is when it comes to flirting, and how he’s hung up on whether he has the right physical reaction to Miles, and what that might mean. I liked seeing them interact as wolves too.

I loved the sneaky Mythos reference. I’d totally watch that as a TV show!

The last chapter of this story, while giving Miles and Simon their HEA, leads into the next book in the series. I’m already hanging out for Justin and Taylor’s story.

Simon and Miles have been friends for a year, and when they both start feeling more than affection between friends, they each question the emotion. Both struggle with uncertainty and in Simon's case, it has almost crippled him. He questions every step of their deepening relationship, and each of them worries that what he's feeling has an end date. Only an understanding of how very different and yet satisfying is their love for each other allows them to finally accept their HEA.

I wanted to love this story more than I did. Aside from the constant to-ing and fro-ing between them about what they were doing, these men sound like new adults rather than more grown-up men with life experiences to call upon. And Simon's tentativeness was very trying. The complex relationship with his ex and kids was interesting, but I didn't like the way the story ended. It stopped abruptly with some things just left up in the air. So though we know they're together in the end, that's all. We don't really know whether or not Simon believes Miles's answers to his concerns. The storytelling sometimes confused me as well when I wasn't sure whose POV I was reading.

Simon and Miles are best friends and both members of the Outcast Pack. Miles has been attracted to Simon almost as long as Simon has been a part of the pack. At Drew and River's (main characters from Wolf Blood) wedding the two get slightly inebriated causing Miles to finally give into his attraction which Simon readily reciprocates.

The morning after is slightly awkward between the two. Simon is scared of repeating the same mistake he made marrying his ex wife, while not being in love with her, inadvertently stringing Miles along and complicating things within a pack in case things don't work out between them. Miles is not willing to give up on a potentially good thing without even giving it a shot so the two agree to on being f*ck buddies and seeing how things develop.

This was another lighter, romance focused book in the series, and while Simon and Miles were likable and reasonably complex characters, their best friends to lovers romance, despite being one of my favorite tropes, didn't completely work for me.

This friends-to-lovers romance is part of the Outcast Pack series, and it definitely enhances the reading experience to have read previous books, but the relationship trajectory here for Simon and Miles unfolds within the confines of this one. They’re both likable characters with different types of baggage and uncertainty when it comes to relationships– it’s interesting, in all the best ways, watching them figure out how to navigate what they might be together while attempting to respect and preserve their existing friendship. I loved that they communicated with each other and found it easy to want the best for them both– there’s plenty of emotion and angst here, as well as chemistry and a connection that ultimately results in their HEA.

Miles noticed when Simon first joined their crew of gay shifters running on Kyle's property that there was something about Simon that caught his attention. But Simon was coming to terms with his divorce and Miles was in a relationship with a human. So they become good friends. Roommates when they stay over at Kyle's place. But the awareness is still there, and not just for Miles. A wedding and some inebriated fooling around helps them to realize that there are feelings there. And they deal with their concerns together. They have a strong friendship that keeps them at ease, even through their evolution from friends to lovers and allows them to communicate and work their way forward. Their story is a neat courtship dance that mixes the ease of familiarity with the uncertainties of early courtship. Nicely told.

Another great story from the Outcast Pack. Until Wolf Lust, Miles and Simon had been in the background. It was nice to see these characters step into the light and learn more about them. I love how the author portrayed Simon’s character. He is such a unique character with a perspective we don’t see in everyday literature. Miles complemented him well and displayed wisdom beyond his years. He seemed Simon’s equal and the age-gap was not evident.

Much like Miles and Simon weren’t showcased in the other books, the other characters weren’t showcased in theirs. I love catching up with characters that I know and love so I missed some of the pack interaction. However, there was enough mention of them to keep me satisfied. Now, I’m looking forward to Justin’s story.

Simon had been married to a woman and was now divorced. Miles had major insecurities and didn’t want to lose his best friend because they had sex, “He’d enjoy the fall, and he wouldn’t think about the ground waiting beneath”.

It felt like even though both men/shifters had sexual experiences they were both novices. I liked that the indecision both men felt was outweighed by the want they had for each other. The progression of the romance was fairly slow. The back story was filled in by the other books in the series. This was a sweet, hot, angsty short story.

I received an arc of this book.

One step forward, two back and a side slide? Miles and Simon were friends who secretly crushed hard on each other and lived in denial. Simon is divorced from Jenny and shares custody of his two children. He struggles owning his sexuality, but he came out. Miles drags the weight of his lack of education and his profession. Is he a reverse snob? Nice walk through these two men getting to know themselves and each other in the next phase of their relationship. Can they face their truth? Can they learn to like themselves? Good story, well done! Nice cover art! I received and ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Wolf Lust by author TJ Nichols is the fifth book in the Outcast Pack series. This story should be read in order. There are things that will not make sense just starting the series here.

I personally loved this story. The emotional connection that Simon and Miles have sizzles. I also love that they were friends long before being lovers.

I also like this story moves the entire series along. I really smiled and wanted these two to be more at the end of the day. Sweet Romance with plenty of story and heat.

If you want a story to make you believe in love this is the one.

"In that moment, all he wanted to do was drag Miles back onto the dance floor because, with Miles in his arms, everything felt good."

I really enjoyed this book, and have enjoyed this series from the start. Simon and Miles were both very sweet men and I really liked the strength of their friendship. Friends-to-lovers is one of my favorite relationship transitions, so I enjoyed seeing the journey both of these men took to get there. Each had their own insecurities and issues to overcome, and it felt realistic the way they navigated things. Wonderful chemistry between them. A very enjoyable read. 4 stars.

Friends to Lovers; a slow burn.
Simon and Miles have been friends since forever, but both are afraid to move beyond friendship. Miles feels inadequate as a simple brick layer while Simon is a very capable schoolteacher. Simon is divorced from Jenny but shares custody of their children. The other members of the Outcast pack see the writing on the wall but both Simon and Miles are blind to their mutually hidden attraction. It takes awhile to get to get their "thing" on, but the result is meaningful and "so" right. I'm writing this review as a voluntary ARC.

Miles and Simon

I enjoyed this friends to lovers, wolf shifter book. I was afraid for Miles at first because I wasn't sure what Simon's intentions were. They both seemed really good together.

I liked the characters. How Simon struggled with the romantic part. How Miles was not confident because he didn't finish school.

It was a but awkward for them moving from friends to establishing their new relationship but once over that part the story dealt more smooth, if that makes sense.

Really interested in Justin's story!

Connection and overcoming our own perception of limitations. Miles and Simon both grow in the well done story. Friendship and being in sync with someone is so important.

Miles and Simon just had to have time to find their way to each other. Loved the story and their partnership!

This is book five of the Outcast Pack and can be read as a stand-alone. The previous books really are good and will give you more insight into these characters.

This is the fifth novel in the Outcast Pack series and I really enjoyed it even though I haven't read the previous books but I will definitely be reading those too.

This was a beautifully told story and I really liked reading it. I really liked that this was a book with a friends to lovers trope (I absolutely adore those) and I gotta say that that was why I read it in the first place.

I adored the characters and the chemistry and a connection that ultimately resulted in their HEA.

Wow!

This was a great read. For most of the book the tone is different from the others. It was a unique and more in depth look at the characters with a very different challenge being focused on. I am looking forward to seeing Miles and Simon from another perspective as we get another pack member as the main character in the next story. I’m curious on how things continue to grow and change for our Outcast pack.

Another winner in this series. Simon and Miles are friends who act on an attraction after a few too many drinks at a wedding and then have to figure out how they really feel about each other - friends or more? I enjoyed watching them work through their confusion and the incorporation of the question of the "worth" of a person based on their career and amount of education really hit home for me after a recent debate about just that issue.

Simon and Miles have become best friends since Simon joined the Outcast Pack. The two have bonded over their past relationships but have never taken the risk to admit to their attraction. Getting a little tipsy at Drew and River's wedding finds them together on the dance floor and just a little more aroused. A tumble back at Kyle's leaves them with knowledge but unsure how to proceed from best friends to lovers.

This one is a 4/5. This book is about Simon and Miles. The two wolf shifters have become best friends. But they both like each and want more. They are not sure about how to express their feelings. Miles feels that since he does not have an education he is not worthy of Simon. While Simon feels he is not worthy of Miles. Yes the two men do have some baggage to unpack. But that is what makes the story good.

book 4 gives us Mile's and Simon story. Two friends who meet at the Outcast pack run and gradually become best friends and gradually more. Simon who was married to a woman believes he can not love so what's happening. Miles falls first and hard. no big angst but that is good as this amis as much an episode in a series and it looks like wolf hunt will have alot of angst.

thoroughly enjoyable series. glad it us the book that makes my target. 120 books this year and the 120th was a high.

It's tough being a parent, a wolf shifter keeping his identity secret from humans, and loving another 'outcast.'

So let's throw in a wedding where you're surrounded by love and lots of liquor!

Then see if you can keep a secret...or maybe you'll just fold and open your heart to all the love coming your way.

A sweet addition to the 'Outcast Pack' series.

A quick story from the outcast pack. I enjoyed getting to know Simon and Miles better and was happy to see them find love with each other. They both had issues to work through but overall low angst. It was nice to see a wedding and the other pack members with their mates from previous books. Of course there is a cliff hanger at the end lol but the coupe is solid.
