About: A puzzle book (think sudoku with jokes) where every puzzle is a murder to solve.
Quick Thoughts:
This is addictive and fun and a perfect gift for any puzzle-lover. The puzzles are not difficult but also not mindless. There isn't a lot of variation so if you don't enjoy this type of puzzle then the book is not going to be for you - it's mostly a grid elimination puzzle with one of us is lying statements. I would have loved to have seen different puzzles but I think there were enough interactive elements to keep me interested.
The story that connects all the puzzles is extremely ridiculous. In a good way. The humour is absurdist and definitely gives the book its charm. Personally, I would have preferred if the puzzles linked over one to two particular cases. So we do a puzzle to find out the location. Another one to discover more about the suspects, the weapon etc. Rather than each puzzle is a separate murder and each murder takes you further into the story. The characters were all just so fun and the settings actually interesting that I could have spent a whole section investigating a handful of strange circumstances that gave me more story, rather than a rinse and repeat format following a string of ridiculous murders.
Overall, this is entertaining, full of charm and even that it is repetitive, it's fun and I had a great time.

Always fun to do these puzzles but the story wasn’t as enjoyable as Volume 1. (Though if I had finished the book in a timely manner perhaps I would think differently. Ha)

Pretty awful, repetitive puzzles. The original website is partially generated by AI and you can tell they used it here to rush these books to print. Lots of inconsistent graphics (between the character intros and the logic grids), too many clues compared to even standard logic puzzle books (which means it's not well edited) and the "story" is ridiculously hacky, told mostly in the answer key.
It tries soo hard to be funny in the descriptions but the puzzles are so fast I don't even bother reading them all.
I am glad I didn't get book 1 and disappointed that I chose this one to ask for for Christmas. Especially since I wish I had known it was so heavily AI-generated. I could have supported a fully human effort. Boo.

W końcu doczekaliśmy się kolejnej części niesamowitych zagadek z najmniej oczekiwanym narzędziami zbr*dni, miejscami czy podejrzanymi. Tutaj dzieje się wprost magia, krwawa magia bo musimy włączyć się w poszukiwania bardzo ważnej osoby. Historia toczy się dalej.
Jak w poprzednim tomie i tutaj mamy 4 stopnie trudności, które łączą się razem w aż 100 zagadek!
Czas by logika wzięła górę nad śledztwem, śledztwem nad złem i okrucieństwem.
Jak zaczęłam tak szłam przez zawiłe zagadki jak burza. Nic mnie nie powstrzymało, nawet sen. Był to dla mnie wspaniały czas powracając do Murdle. Nie mogę się doczekać 3 tomu i jeszcze więcej kluczowych acz na pierwszy rzut oka nieprzydatnych drobiazgów, pomagających w śledztwie.
Murdle to idealna zabawa dla fanów zagadek, kryminałów i logiki. Tutaj używa się przede wszystkim tylko ołówka i wspomnianej logiki. Czy dacie radę rozwiązać wszystkie?

I love Murdle. It’s really addicting and the plot is always interesting and fun. I also love the hidden riddles hidden around the book that don’t make sense until the end of the book. I liked the first book better, but I’m still getting the third book.

I love these books. I love that I can do them over the course of a weekend or a couple of months. I can put them down and start them whenever I want and I don’t feel like I am lost. And there is so much more than puzzles. It’s a whole story mixed in as well!

1️⃣ vs 2️⃣ Nie miałam szansy czytać części z poprzednimi zagadkami a zewsząd spływały świetne opinie. Nawet już gdzieś ktoś napomknął, że owa druga część wypada nawet lepiej niż poprzedniczka.
🎯 Najbardziej spodobało mi się to, że nie dostajemy tylko zwykłej, kolejnej zagadki do rozwiązania ale taką z dobrą i ciekawą historią w tle. Osadzaną w przeróżnych miejscach, także tajemniczych. Taką, która sprawia, że po jej zakończeniu ma się poczucie bycia częścią całej intrygi.

This is the second puzzle book in the Murdle series.
There are 100 murder mysteries, 25 mysteries in 4 degrees of difficulty: elementary, occult medium, hard boiled, and impossible.
I liked that the mysteries in each block were connected and there was a storyline to them. We get to hear from the murderers, and suspects leave us clues.
Detective Logico goes to Violet Isles to discover its ghastly secret, then he joins Inspector Irratino, and the two of them travel the world solving mysteries. When Logico goes missing, it’s up to Irratino to find him…
The four blocks all form a bigger picture leading to the Free Republic of Drakonia, a nation haunted by its revolutionary past. It reminded me so much of the Russian Revolution in 1917, where the Bolsheviks abolished the Tsar and brought communism into place. Those last 25 mysteries were very dark in nature; I certainly wouldn’t want to be living in such a place!
Overall, it’s a great murder mystery puzzle book. I already bought the next instalment, so watch this space!

Murdle volume 2 biedt opnieuw uren puzzel- en denkplezier. Je krijgt per moeilijkheidsgraad voldoende tijd om er aan te wennen, en de aanwezigheid van de verschillende niveaus zorgt ervoor dat het niet te makkelijk wordt. De werkwijze is helemaal gelijkaardig aan die van volume 1.
Als je murdle volume 1 al volledig opgelost hebt, ga je je daardoor bij de eerste twee niveaus mogelijk wel wat vervelen. Misschien kan het nog een leuk idee zijn om ook Murdle boeken uit te brengen die bv hoofdzakelijk niveau 3 en 4 puzzels bevatten.
Een leuke nieuwe toevoeging aan dit puzzelboek, zijn de raadsels van Pythagoras. Haal je wiskundige kennis maar even boven, dan kan je nog wat extra uitdagingen overwinnen. Geen paniek, dit zijn gewoon leuke extra's.
Wat ik ook leuk vond, is dat je in moeilijkheidsgraad 3 niet op zoek gaat naar het motief als 4e kenmerk. In elk raadsel mag je iets anders uitpluizen, gaande van het experiment waaraan de personen deelnemen dat hoe ze hun koffie graag drinken. In niveau 4 spelen de motieven dan wel weer een rol.
Murdle volume 2 is dus een leuke, uitdagende toevoeging aan het Murdle universum.

It took me a while to get through these puzzles, purely because I was reading other books and forgot to pick this up.
The puzzles are still clever, and the underlying story is interesting (although I got lost a couple of times because of how long I spent between sessions reading it).
I look forward to the next one - when I have time to focus on it.

November 29, 2024i do love a good logic puzzle and i enjoyed being able to think through all of these. i got a little annoyed with some of them requiring a lot of hypotheticals to go through and solve, but part of that might've been my fault for doing them in pen oops. on the whole made me happy :)

As with the first Murdle book, I thoroughly enjoyed this. The overarching plot was more complicated and slightly less enjoyable than that in the first book but nevertheless this was still a great book and a must for anyone who enjoys solving puzzles and mysteries.
