I can normally overlook some amount of poor or simple writing when the story is engaging and interesting, but the writing in this book is beyond bad, I'm sorry to say. I can't understand how so many errors and badly written sentences made it into the final copy, or even how they were written in the first place. Some samples:
"Alice Leeds her father into the dining room"
"My Apology’s my Lady"
"And just wear do you think you are going"
Not only are the sentences full of errors, or choppy, or run-ons, or just awkwardly written, but the story is just basic melodrama. This book has me truly confused.

This is the second novel in the series. It begins almost two years after "A Promise Broken" ends. You can read this as a stand alone. A summary is given at the beginning, and you know who the characters are. It is written in a natural way, and it fits into the story, You get to know the characters, and aren't left confused.
Lisa is finally going to come out into society. Since she has been living with her father for the past two years, she has gotten somewhat spoiled. Her father never says no, and she gets away with a lot, including early morning rides in the park. One morning, she is spotted by a Duke, Stephen, who is instantly smitten. She, however, is a bit put out because he is a little too familiar with her, and flirts shamelessly. I am left a little confused about the spelling of his name. The description spells it Stephen, but spelled Stephon throughout the book. It doesn't detract from the book at all.
While Lisa gives the impression she is spoiled, and most of the other characters describe her as such, you get to learn more about her. She is more scared, and feels insecure about her place in society since she and her sister were raised outside of society. Lisa hides it behind her behavior, This is played out very well in the novel. As opposed to the first novel, which was very good and definitely worth a read, this spends more time with the couple together and their interaction with each other. Their growth together felt more in depth.
The title it is perfect since it refers to the return of Paul Benard, who was left with many scars and of Lisa's past and sudden upheaval into society in the first book. He is now determined to have her. He is worse than ever, and scarier too. I loved his scenes because you definitely felt the fear everyone around him felt, and felt the loathing and hatred he himself felt.
While they are falling in love, Paul Benard is plotting his revenge. Lisa is attacked at her first ball, and his death warrant is pretty much sealed by Stephon, Seral...her sister's husband, a friend, and her father. After two couples leave the ball, her father tells Lord Harland, their friend, that he wants Bernard dead.
Lord Harland is an interesting character. While he flirts with the girls in both books, it's never with any real intent since he knows they are not for him. It's only to have fun, and make the H's upset in both books. However, he is in this one more, and you kind of get an idea of who he is, but there is still much not known. We got hints but not much. It left me intrigued. If the next novel is about him, I will definitely be the first one to read it.
Stephon is forced to interact with his mother's family because she determines he needs them to help protect Lisa. Lady Sarah comes from a family of gypsies, who are not accepted into society. He does not really know them because his father told him not to ask any questions, or learn about his mother's family. As he loved and respected his father, he never did. His mother is now widowed, and the love she had for Stephon's father is very obvious, She sees the same looks of longing and love as she saw from his father, and does what she can to help them end up together. She, Lisa's aunt Maxie, and Miss Mattie are working together, and trying not to be too obvious about it, even though Lisa sees most of it. They're entertaining, and it's fun to see them work together. Aunt Maxie, Aunt Maxie isn't in this novel as much as the first one, but she does have an important role to play. She makes Lisa and Alice's father, the Duke Richard, stay involved, and not be distracted by his work as he was in the first novel. Her sister Alice is seen throughout the novel but more as a background character, as it is in most series' novels. Alice's husband, Seral, is a good friend of Stephon's, helping him, and giving him advice about Lisa, and at the same time, warning him about how the Hasting sisters are. Some of the "advice/warning" scenes between the two are pretty funny,.
We do get a HEA, and it sounds very familiar.
I enjoyed the novel, but the grammar errors were a little painful, but once you get used to them, the novel reads more smoothly. It is definitely re-readable,
There is one intimate scene, but it isn't graphic. You know what is happening, but it isn't described in vivid detail. I would still list this as a mature novel because of it.
In the epilogue, it is stated there are more novels to come. I'm excited to see who will be the main characters since both sisters are now happily married. Crossing fingers for Lord Harland, but I'll be just as happy if it is someone else as well.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Regency historical romances have always been my thing ever since I was young, so to be able to read a book with this genre is magic to me. I had a great time reading The Scars Have Returned by Kim Anderson. This is exactly the kind of story I am looking for in a regency romance. The story highlights main characters Lord Stephen Cornwall and Lady Lisa Hastings, both that belong to a royal family. Their romance started in a quirky way which sets the mood lightly in the beginning. There was certainly a spark between these two and over time, I have seen their romantic development grew remarkably.

The story fell under the regency romance stereotype but it certainly did justice to what the story was aiming for. The dialogues were fun to read and the characters themselves make the whole story more interesting. I admit that I did have a hard time liking Lisa at first though, but she eventually had a character development that I was hoping in the end. All in all, a pleasant and swoon-worthy read!

The Scars Have Returned by Kim Anderson is a gripping novel that takes place in England. Lord Stephen Cornwall steals the heart of Lady Lisa Hastings, a spoiled young woman whom
Stephen must protect and save from the man who seeks her family's wealth.

I devoured this book in record time while thoroughly enjoying it. It is one of those pleasant reading surprises that you don't expect. The plot is engaging, and it piques your interest in Stephen and Lisa.

The author has done a great job with this novel. A narration that gives the story a plus is one in which everything fits together, the plot flows without getting lost in unnecessary details, and it creates a particular atmosphere.

You can devour this novel in two sittings or savor it more calmly. In either case, you will enjoy it. I recommend it; you will not regret it!

The Scars Have Returned is a fantastic read by Kim Anderson. The book follows a couple of characters, the most notable being Lord Stephen Cornwall and Lady Lisa Hastings. Stephen is the most sot after Duke in all of England, along with his family heritage being one that’s often gossiped about. You also follow Lady Lisa, a woman who’s got something to prove to herself, her father, and the world. It’s her year to come into the adult world and she will do it beautifully. In a redemption story with significant losses, the writing is done so well that you often feel what you’re reading. The characters are well-written and have much depth written into them, you can really see them as whole people not just a character within a book. A great romance read!

The Scars Have Returned is a romantic story about two young lovers set in Regency times in London. The two unlikely lovers, Lord Stephen Cornwall and Lady Lisa Hastings, find themselves in a romance so intense but traditional, like most Regency romantic relationships. The story is increasingly romantic by the minute, offering intensity and suspense to the main plot.

It offers as well traditions and politics revolving around London's high society, in that particular era. Although it's fiction, it had particular historical aspects, and with it, the story provides a surreal but accurate storyline. A traditional romance, not only in the story but in the writing as well, with the classic slow-burn romance shown to the reader. Would recommend it!

A great first book by this author.

The author, Kim Anderson, presents in her book called The Scars Have Returned a romantic story between Lord Stephen Cornwall, the most sot after duke in England, and Lady Lisa Hastings, a spoiled little brat.
The story is well written and although some people could say that it is a "cliché", I think a better description is a great classical book that has a very typical structure and also caught the readers' attention with surprising turns and twists.
I honestly liked it and I think that any people who enjoy love stories can enjoy this.
The book has some details that should be corrected but this definitely doesn't prevent you from enjoying the story.

The Scars Have Returned by author Kim Anderson is a good historical and romantic fiction that can be perfect for a holiday reading. I enjoy these summer readings that transport the reader to another reality, that offer relaxation and entertainment, with captivating characters and endearing stories. This was my expectation when choosing the book and it did not disappoint me. The engaging plot took me to the early 1800s in England and to a society marked by rumors, riches, dramas and the rules of good behavior. The alluring characters also display courage in face of adversity and challenges which makes it very endearing to experience.
I strongly recommend this book to all the regency historical romance lovers.

The Scars Have Returned is a historical romance by Kim Anderson. While on an I’ll-advised ride on her mount, Lady Lisa Hastings catches the eye of one of the most eligible Englishmen in the country—a Duke! Lord Stephen Cornwall quickly falls for her beauty, but his own questionable family background might stand in his way.
It being her introductory year to society, Lisa is determined to prove to her father that she is a proper lady. The sweet yet spicy ending doesn’t exactly suggest such a thing, but love and blessings make the pairing favorable. I found that the beauty and money of Lisa opposing Bernard’s scars interesting. I had issues with some of the spelling and grammar throughout, but I like a love story that includes a rescue just in the nick of time.

Sweet coming of age love story

Set in Victorian period England, the story revolves around Lisa Hastings, an unruly and privileged young lady and Lord Stephen Cornwall, the most eligible bachelor of the season. Lisa needed a wakeup call to be a proper lady and an encounter with Lord Stephen is what it needed. It's a familiar world but still an entertaining love story. A game changer in the form of a handsome man to change a wild woman into a proper lady and hopefully a wife.
This is a great book written with such eloquence and takes you to the world of the likes of Jane Austen andJulia Quinn. It is a beautiful coming of age story, a 5 star and a recommended read if you are in search of a quick love story.

The Scars Have Returned is an amazing romance novel written by Kim Anderson, it follows the most sot after Duke in England, Lord Stephen Cornwall, and Lady Lisa Hastings. Both of whom are practically strangers to each other until their encounter, in which Lord Stephen feels his heart reaching for her.

You follow Lady Lisa coming into the adult world, she’s a spoiled brat that has quite an attitude but the Lord still has feelings developing for her. She has something to prove to her father once she enters into the adult world. It’s a great story of loss, love, and redemption and is a great read for romance enthusiasts.

“The Scars Have Returned” is the story of the young and very spoiled Lady Lisa Hastings who is about to “come out” in society and plans to make a big success of it. However, as readers will most likely expect, nothing goes according to plan once she meets Lord Stephen Cornwall.

It’s a pity that this book has the first typo in the very first line of the Amazon description. Better proofreading would definitely help avoid throwing readers out of the story. Other than that, it is a fun read for fans of regency and historical light romances. If you enjoy this book, be sure to check the previous novel as well, which describes Lisa Hasting’s earlier life in more detail.

Set in the 19th century, this romance story revolves around Lord Stephen Cornwall, a young man whose family heritage is the most talked about. One day, he runs into Lady Lisa Hastings, who is determined to prove that she can be a proper adult. In their encounter, both are fascinated, and there begins a great love story.

I really liked “The Scars Have Returned” by Kim Anderson. This romance story made my skin crawl. From the beginning, this story captivated me. The author's writing style creates a pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere. The characters are very well described and the metamorphosis they undergo is superb! 5 out of 5 stars!

The Scars Have Returned is a romance novel that tells the love story between Lady Lisa Hastings and Lord Stephen Cornwall, a love that has to overcome the rules of the society in which they live. The author Kim Anderson makes this novel seem a bit ambitious in terms of imaginative storytelling; she was careful in trying to describe each scene and that makes the book interesting. Also, the book has a good character development and plot twists. It is a good book for people who enjoy reading romantic historical novels. It is full of scenes of love that are going to keep you excited from the beginning to the end. I recommended this nice novel.

The Scars Have Returned is a passionate story written by Kim Anderson. The intriguing story, located in old England, is told from two sides: Lord Stephen Cornwall and Lady Lisa Hastings. The first one is troubled by an odd family and a reputation to keep, and the second is ready to start adulthood and prove herself to the world.

I really enjoyed this book because is written in the most delicate and sophisticated English possible, which transports the reader to those times and submerges them right into the story. The plot is delightful; a short story worthy of a rainy afternoon.

Definitely recommended for people who enjoy a good drama!

The Scars Have Returned is a period romance novel that immediately takes readers back to 19th century England; set in the era of elegant ladies and wealthy gentlemen, the story quickly captivates with the description of its settings and the detailed definition of its mysterious characters.
The story begins to become entangled between the daily life of some families and the weight of the history of their ancestors, but the reading quickly progresses and becomes a pleasant and electrifying drama. It is light and moves quickly. I finished it in a couple of days and I was delighted.
I recommend this reading to lovers of romantic novels with dramatic overtones.
