As a journalist, I need to remain objective, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have opinions. I'm determined to find answers when I find my boss dead in his office. But my investigation leads me into dangerous territory and exposes a threat too close to home.
Bishop ~
A night out with friends sometimes comes with surprises, but when a woman literally lands in my arms, it’s only the beginning of what will be the biggest surprise of my life. She’s in trouble, and I know what to do to keep danger at bay. But it would be a whole lot easier if the woman wasn’t as bossy and uptight as she is beautiful and irresistible.
Will the sexual tension help or hinder the search for the killer?

I smiled at my latest work. I put too much time and effort into this plan for anything to mess up what I’ve built.
So many years stuck in the same position because of bullshit higher-ups not letting my stories get the shine they deserved. It is laughable how they run around and push that bitch Yanira into the spotlight, but a rude awakening is coming, and I plan to make my name the biggest story the paper has ever seen.
So many years of getting pushed aside, ignored, and not having a family that loved me. I had to work extra hard, even though many people forgot about me, except for one person who always had my back.
My stomach growled. I continued to stir the cream in the coffee and blew into the extra hot beverage to cool it down.
Today I’d planned to force the editor to hear me out during the meeting at work. The latest rumblings were that the owner was running a story that could hurt some people I was close to who have supported me. A string of issues had popped up, making headlines that had me on edge, and only one person could have planted those stories. If I could make all this disappear, I’d be one step closer to getting the future I’d always wanted. My family would be surprised at how far I’d come if they hadn’t thrown me away.
“You listening?” Yanira asked.
“Huh?”
“I said, thanks for making the coffee this morning.” Yanira held the cup to her red lips and smiled to show off her perfect white teeth before leaving the breakroom.
I gritted my teeth as she laughed at something one of the other writers said. Everybody at the newspaper was blind to her lies. It was almost impossible to get a step up in this business unless you were Yanira. I didn’t fall for her fakeness and decided it was time to make the world aware of who she truly was before she turned more people into her minions. All it would take was one little accident, and Yanira would be out of my life for good.

I love the Special Forces Operation Alpha world, you always meet characters from other books and series. Yanira has witnessed a murder and Bishop is supposed to protect her. So far, so good, the story is great and exciting throughout, and the characters very contrasting, which leads not only to everyday tensions , but also to a certain erotic attraction. Unfortunately, these feelings werent well described There is a big lack of emotions in this book, which is probably due to the very descriptive writing style. This is great for the crime storyline, which is wonderful, suspenseful and very well thought out. But I totally miss the emotions in the character descriptions. Thus, Yanira is quite unlikeable to me, she does everything in her own way, and pretty much puts people off their heads .Bishop is a hot protector, but you don't get to read more from him than his grumpy attitude. Also, the sentences are too jumpy for me, because I couldn't understand why the protagonists act the way they do. I would have liked much, much more direct language. There are also some small logic rabbit holes in it. Nevertheless, I loved reading the book and enjoyed it very much.
Protecting Yanira by Keke Renee was well written and had great character development. This story is about journalist Yanira and her wanting to solve the murder of her boss after finding him dead. While running from the scene, she runs into Bishop and his team. Bishop and served with her brother, so he’s assigned to protect her! Will Yanira listen to Bishop, will the police look for the killer? Bishop and Yanira did not get off to a good start. She does not like being told what to do, doesn’t listen to anything or anyone while Bishop’s used to people listening to his commands or rules because he knows that not listening could get people hurt or worse. These two butt heads throughout the book because both of them are set in their ways and is waiting for the other person to blink!.

Such a wonderful and exciting way to start your weekend off. This book have some very interesting and captivating characters that are crossovers from the series. And each one makes it almost imperative and intriguing to read their stories.
However, Bishop and Yanira’s story feels more like you’re watching a great series on streaming services or cable. Great TV without the commercials. Well a few bathroom breaks…lol…
I’m looking forward to seeing where this leads.

Action right out the start. But then there were flashbacks that made no sense. The characters droned on about unnecessary stuff. Like in the description of one of her friends she went into minute details about the hair brands she used, felt like product placement in. A book. But also did not progress the plot in anyway. A half a page on the bff exterior appearance just felt like words. The story was plot was fine but just could have used a tiny bit more streamlining.

Part of the Special Forces: Operation Alpha series a well written suspense story with a very good storyline that kept me turning pages. Yanira a journalist finds her boss dead in his office, Bishop is out with friends when she runs into him as she escapes. Bishop then becomes her bodyguard, there is suspense, drama, danger, villains, murder and romance. The story was well worth reading. The storyline has great potential but the jump from hating each other to crazy, cozy intimacy is just bizarre. Throwing in great characters from Susan Stoker's previous novels can't even salvage this mess. Add some spelling and formatting errors to the mix and the book just fails completely to engage the reader. The characters lack depth. The book lacks a good editor.
Yanira finds her boss, the editor and chief, dead in his office. She runs out the building when she sees someone in the office and right into Bishop. Bishop and his team served with her brother. Bishop is assigned to protect her, will the team and the police look for the killer.
The two do not get off to a good start, she does not like being told what to do and he is not used to people not listening. The close proximity heats things up between the two. Will they go their separate ways once the killer is found?

Yantra is a journalist that's working late when she comes across a crime in her office. The police give her a bodyguard, Bishop, to keep her safe. They work together on the case and find a lot of corruption is going on. Everyone involved has some sort of secret they're hiding.
So, to be fair to say, the book was prefaced by another author that characters were coming from other works. This is probably why it felt like I was sort of dropped in the middle of a movie already in progress. That's also most likely why it felt rushed for most of it. I didn't really feel the buildup of the romance between them. Also, the character descriptives had very little to them, so not much in the way of envisioning them as I read; which made it hard to connect to them.
Yanira lack common sense when it came to the very dangerous situation she was in at times, and Bishop was quiet and grumpy all the time. But he had a strong code to protect; lucky for Yanira, because she tested that resolve in more than one instance.
Overall, it works out, and we get a tidy ending.

Working on an explosive exposé, Yahira knows she has the story of the moment to blow the lid off of corruption in the city by people in high places. When she goes to talk to her boss, she discovers he's been murdered and she instinctively knows she's next unless she runs for her life.
Fate is smiling down on her because she encounters ex-military officer, Bishop, who she discovers has all the tools and know-how to keep her safe, from her enemies and herself. Recommended: Read It!
Too short, would have been better if the story was more developed and longer. I liked the premise and idea though. Would try longer stories from this author
A fantastic story. Yanira is a journalist and finds her boss dead and as she goes to call for help someone shoots at her. As she is running, she literally runs in to Bishop in the alley. Bishop and his team is asked to protect her and he is designated to be her bodyguard. She has to move in with him until the case is solved and they can not stand each other. How will this play out?.

This was a Good read and has some action, strong characters in Nira and Bishop who is tasked in protecting Nira from the person who is out to get her after she finds her boss dead and a who done it feel to it and has a HEA at the end.

Yanira is a journalist and has a mind of her own and can be strong and stubborn at times. Bishop is tasked with keeping her safe. But the sparks fly, tempers rise, and the attraction gets steamy. Love this series.

Nira and Bishop meet after a dangerous situation and thankfully Bishop and his team are on hand to offer protection and support. Both Nira and Bishop are strong minded characters who do clash but seeing their relationship evolve made for good reading, as did trying to work out what was going on. I liked seeing them together as a couple and seeing them find their HEA.

This was a slow read for me. It was a good book, but not a lot of action till the end. Nira is a strong willed character in this book and Bishop is put on as her bodyguard. These two clash from the get go. She has a stalker after witnessing her boss's death. There's a lot of moving parts in this book, it's like a who done it story. HEA.

Bishop becomes her bodyguard but she drives him nuts. However this changes to love when they act on the attraction. The murderer was a surprise and came way too close to killing Yanira.
