Abi and the Boy She Loves

Rate this book
I don’t want to be another statistic.

After everything I’ve been through, I’m more focused than ever on healing myself and living the kind of life I want. But with my dad up for parole and Jon’s athletic career over with a single injury, my dreams are turning into a nightmare.

I have so many questions. How can I heal when everything around me seems so broken? How can I live my life when the person who hurt me might walk free?

And the hardest question of all: How can Jon know he loves me if he doesn’t even know who he is anymore?

Abi’s story comes to an end in an incredible, emotional, tumultuous journey. Read the final book in The Texas High Series: Abi for a heartfelt story you will never forget.

Ahh ok this book was really about growth and I like that.

I didn’t like the way Jon handled his injuries but I do understand it. He thought his life was going to be this one way and he had to redirect.

Abi was finally on the right track and I liked that for her sometimes she lets things get to her but don’t we all.

Overall I am glad I listened to this series.
Again I am enjoying the narrator too.

I was really invested in this series.

But this book was lackluster. I just feel like nothing much happened, and there was not much resolve at the end. That is not to say i was excited to read it. I was very invested in the overall plot and the final conclusion to Abi & Jon's story, but it just didn't give me the final push i think we all needed.

I can't tell people how much I loved this series! The author did an amazing job helping Abi and Jon make their journey over these past three books with an intense emotional roller coaster of events and finding the truest love, not just for each other, but also for themselves. I will admit, Abi annoyed me somewhat during the first book, but as she matured and found her self worth in the friends and relationships she developed, I could she her becoming a strong individual. I just could not get over how much I loved Abi and Jon's relationship. It was not picture perfect, but more realistic! I felt the author did a great job making the bumps in their relationship real and believable. Overall, I was satisfied with the ending of this series. I would recommend this series to people who might have one time or another struggled with some of the self image issues people face even today especially among our youth. This book gave a very positive message to a very serious situation. I look forward to reading more books by this author!

Meh

The story was okay, but....it just had too much drama and Jon turned an ass.
He knows how much Abi has been through, and yes, he got hurt, but drinking, controlling her, dumping her AGAIN for being sensible....smh. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
I get when bad things happen sometimes someone goes in a downward spiral. That part of the story is very real, but.....I never find it excusable to take our ones anger on the one person trying to be there for you.
He had made no time for her in the previous book, he had to right to demand 100% of her time.
But again, Abi's friends and family really step it up! THEY are the ones that made this book for me. Love them and their silly antics haha

I really enjoy this author and read the entire curvy girl series and wanted to read more by her. This series in general was really good, however the last book was kind of a let down. I had to listen to the epilogue a few times to make sure I heard right. That can’t be the end, it can’t be Abi and Jon’s end. Or was so rushed and so confusing idk I was really disappointed at the end. I also hope she is going to write more books for this series. I want to see what happens in Stormi’s life. I would also love another Abi book or maybe an “all grown up” like the curvy girl club did. I am reading Skye’s story next. Can’t wait to see what happens!!

Kelsie was not afraid to tackle the hard choices in this trilogy. That was the best thing about this series. It helps more people relate to it I think.

I wasn’t a fan of how Jon handled his injury and treated Abi. I get that’s part of him trying to figure out who he is without running, but he was a real jerk.

For that reason, I wasn’t a fan of the ending. It was rushed and too sunshine and rainbows for me. Jon needed to own up to his mistakes and how he hurt Abi more than he did. It was glossed over too quickly and forgiven. He needed to grovel.

Abi has been through so much in her young life now it is Jon's turn. While I understood his pain I got a little frustrated with both he and Abi and how they dealt with it. However, people deal with things differently. Loved how the author showed growth in them as individuals as well as a couple. The ending was so very sweet but the ending ending was heart touching. Sad to see this series end. Would love a book 4 or novella - Abi and Jon and their baby :).

Loved getting to see Jon and Abi in college. I cried while reading of Jon's injury, and felt Abi's devastation. I read in a day, because I had to see Jon and Abi have a happily ever after, fingers were crossed. I deducted a star because there was bad words used throughout the story. If you like a YA story with wonderful heart felt content, I recommend "Abi and the Boy she loves".

Semi Great Finally

I read this three book series today. I really liked the first two books. I didn't like this one as much. Not really sure why. It just seemed different. I also didn't care for all the links in the books to other characters books all the way through it. Once would have been enough.

Fantastic series

I loved this series I felt like I was in the story the whole entire time. I didn’t want it to end It took a little bit of a slow turn in the middle but it picked up I wish I could read more about Abi and how everything turns out But I am OK with how it ended I would love to see the series made into a show or movie

What Can I say.

I don't normally shed a tear when reading a book but this one for some reason got to me. The way this Author has captured the characters in this book is amazing. Although I would say it was maybe the weaker one out of the three. But I still loved it. What a wonderful back story to a romantic book

Hardships

Abi has been through a lot but now she must learn how to live through something she hoped would never happen again. Can Jon survive and come out better or are they doomed before their forever begins?

Loved this series

This series had me hooked from start to finish. As a fellow thick gal I too struggle with all the same things Abi does through out the series. I was very relatable to her story and loved the plot. Love, love, love it!!!

I loved this series! It was nice to read a series that tells a story of a real life and it's struggles. I related so much to Abi! Seeing her finally come into her own in this book was so awesome. I am looking forward to reading the bonus story of Abi and Jon's wedding!

Such a sweet romance

I absolutely loved the message in this story. Although Abi's back story is sad, her strength is incredible. And of course, I can never resist a HEA.

I feel like there was more resolution needed at the end of the book. It's all well and good to want to move forward but you also need to address what went wrong.

Some parts of this fell apart for me. It's okay to want to look to the positives and to move forward but you still need to talk about what happened before and why.

This was a cute little listen. I enjoyed this book. But I mixed all three books instead of listening to the first one. I hope people enjoy this book and series like I did.

I’m sorry what was that ending?!?!! They just break up and that’s it? That’s how the series ends? I’m so confused why did it just end like that?

Chapter 1

This was exactly where Jon belonged. On the track, the wind he created flying through his hair, his face determined, his lungs heaving, his muscles rippling with every labored step.
Chapter 2
Highlight(pink) - Page 9 · Location 139
He smiled at me, but his face immediately fell at my expression. “What’s wrong?” He hurried to me, and his hands went to my face, his eyes searching me for signs of trouble. “Are you okay?”
Highlight(pink) - Page 10 · Location 146
He pulled back and held my face in his hands. With steel in his eyes and iron in his voice, he said, “However I need to. I will not let anyone else hurt you.” I believed him. But as we walked to meet our families, it hit me: he’d made no promises about keeping himself safe in the process.
Chapter 14

stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and did as he asked. He was throwing on a hoodie, yanking on his shoes. I held one hand over my pounding heart. The heart that was his. “Hurry,” I breathed.

“I am.” He passed the elevator altogether and flew down the stairs, all the way from the ninth floor. His breathing

came so fast he couldn’t talk, but words weren’t necessary. This was Jon, and he was coming. The lobby passed behind him on the screen, and when he got to the front door of the dorms, I saw him. I wanted to run to him, but my legs wouldn’t move. I couldn’t think. Everything was starting to sound far away.
Chapter 19
Highlight(pink) - Page 101 · Location 908
Jon let out a guttural cry that would forever be seared in my mind. And the cry didn’t end. Even after the person rolled to a stop in a crumpled heap, moaning. Blood seeped into the snow. Covered Jon’s ungloved hand that was now gripping his leg, the spot where something that should not have been there protruded from his snow pants. “HELP!” I screamed, knowing if I reached for my phone, which didn’t have service on the mountaintop, it wouldn’t do me any good. I didn’t quit screaming until

His voice was small. “If I never run again... if I never race. Would you still want me?”
Highlight(pink) - Page 114 · Location 1010
There was only one answer. “Yes. Running might be everything to you, but you are everything to me.” He held my hands to his cheek, and my heart shattered even more completely at the moisture there. “You have no idea how much that means,” he said, his voice rough.
Chapter 26

He spread his arms wide. “Come here.” I looked at him, tears springing to my eyes yet again. “What?” “Come here,” he repeated. So I did as he asked and carefully
Chapter 27

Stormy let out a scream, dropping hangers of clothes on the floor. “THE BABY MOVED! SHE MOVED!” She folded over her stomach, like she could hold the baby in her arms. “What?” I cried. “No way!” She smiled over at me, an evil glint in her shining eyes. “She’s going to be a handful. Already likes drama.”
Chapter 41
Highlight(pink) - Page 225 · Location 1959
“Because, it’s the truth,” I said. And then it hit me. “You’re just like my dad. He had an injury and let it control his life. Let drugs and emotions rule instead of his mind. And now I’m with a guy who’d just

“We were supposed to make it,” I sobbed. “We were supposed to be forever.” But forever hadn’t lasted nearly as long as I’d thought it would.

That’s how we all ended up running around the cemetery, half-naked, Skye in a bridal veil, the guys carrying Stormy around on an air mattress, and all of us howling at the moon.
