The responsible one. The steady, reliable one. Lauren Roberts has had her fill of it.
Running her bed-and-breakfast like clockwork and hosting her younger, glamorous, songbird sister for the holidays only underscores Lauren’s choice of order over risk. Kelly’s vibrant and impetuous nature doesn’t stick to anything—or any one woman—for long. That includes an old girlfriend of Lauren’s who was dazzled by Kelly, then dumped, shortly after Lauren stepped aside.
Old memories are sharply painful with Kelly under her roof. With the inn full, Lauren’s patience and control is stretched to the limit. When Kelly brings home Lauren’s friend Gaylin Hart, Lauren realizes Kelly has again laid claim to something she might well have wanted for herself. It looks like history might repeat itself—if Lauren lets it.

2 stars The premise was decent, the execution underwhelming and I loathed Lauren's sister with every fiber of my being and couldn't understand why she tolerated her in her life. So I spent most of the book in rage. Not a good thing for a romance book.
This was an okay read. It started off really well and I really liked the recipes in between the chapters (a few of them I hope to try). As I read though I became more and more annoyed with all the characters except maybe Tallie and Carly. Kelly seemed so immature for a 30something that honestly I thought she was in her 20s. Laura was such a push over I was hoping there would be an "Ah ha" moment but alas there was not. It has a happy ending but things just wrapped up too easily and perfectly with nothing really discussed or hashed out. Overall an okay read.
When I review romances I always want to write a disclaimer: I am not judging it as a work of fiction that will touch my life in a meaningful way, but as light fiction meant to entertain.
Yesterday I felt like getting away and picked up this book which had been in my shelf for God only knows how long. It is the story of Lauren and her Victorian Bed and Breakfast, Gypsy Hill, and her sister Kelly, who comes to stay during the holidays. It is also about their mutual ex Carly, and their new love interest, Gaylin. Throw in Cleo, the cat, and Roxie the pregnant dachshund and you've got yourself a story.
