Corrupt Cupid #3

Be Mine, Bloody Valentine

Rate this book
He left me.

Alec Sanborne abandoned me when I was nothing but a scared teenager. He deserted me in a house with a monster. Now, he’s prancing around NYU as a professor, pretending he’s normal.

But my step-brother is far from normal. I know all of his dirty little secrets, the ones he tries so carefully to hide. I plan to expose him, to strip everything away that he loves until he has nothing but me.

One look and I can see the love and desire in his eyes. He says he wants nothing to do with me, that I can’t be in his class. But how could I abandon the man I’ve fantasized about all these years?

Alec Sanborne is mine. My bloody valentine.

Be mine, Bloody Valentine is part of a multi-author collab. Ditch the hearts and flowers and step into the dark world of Corrupt Cupid. Each book can be read as a standalone, but why not grab each and every deranged romantic tale as you slip into a place where darkness rules? (HEA included)

“I love you…. Fuck, I love you so goddamn much Bailey. If you ever left me I’d have to hunt you down and rip you to pieces with my bare hands.”

Be Mine, Bloody Valentine was an intense, over the top, violent and wild read.

Bailey finds Alec, his stepbrother, after being left behind, living a seemingly perfect life working as a professor. However, he knows that it is all facade, that he leads a double life and wants to ruin him for leaving him behind with their monster of a father.

Alec has attempted to leave behind his past, but as he brings men who resemble his brother down to his basement and takes their lives, he knows that he hasn’t fully moved on. Especially when said brother appears before him. As much as he wants to eliminate him so he can continue to live his life free of his past, he can not bring himself to.

Bailey, as much as he wants to get back at his brother for leaving him behind, truly wants his attention to be cared for and is acting out of hurt.

"If I had my wish, we would sit around kissing all day and night until our lips were swollen. Once we couldn’t do it anymore, Alec would fuck me until I cried, and I would cling to him the whole time, never wanting to let him go."

"My heart felt so full. For the first time in ages, I wasn’t a half-empty shell walking around with no purpose. I had a reason to be alive. First, to kill Adam. Second, to love Alec. That was all the purpose I needed."

These two are depraved, unhinged, and so violent. Yes, due to their past trauma and their father being a psychotic serial killer played a role in how they turned it out, BUT what they do to innocent people…well, no excuses for that.

I enjoyed how crazy obsessed Bailey was towards Alec. He feels betrayed by him as he left him with their father but he comes to understand his actions, and Alec ends up feeling guilty. They love one another, and honestly, they are perfect together.

"A shudder wracked through my body. Did that mean he would get pleasure from killing me? Or would he end my life and continue to enjoy every inch of me? For some reason, both ideas sent tingles of ecstasy coursing through me."

“You’re mine....All mine now. I’ll keep you safe.” My heart hammered in my chest. “Say it again,” I begged. Alec ripped my pants down my thighs. “I’ll keep you safe,” he said. “Because you belong to me.”

Is this over the top, unrealistic, and requires the need to suspend belief? Yes. But did I eat it up? Also yes.

When I first learned about this multi-author series I lost my mind. I was super excited and Be Mine, Bloody Valentine was everything and more than I expected. Overall this was a great dark valentine read. If you enjoy twisted, dark, violent bloody obsessive stories I recommend it.

Please heed the TWs as this story is very dark and violent.

*** I reviewed a complimentary copy of this book***

This story is completely unhinged and crazy in all the right ways. Be Mine, Bloody Valentine tells the story of two estranged stepbrothers, Alec and Bailey. They reunite after being separated for years.

These two had an unorthodox upbringing which has led to both stepbrothers having dark urges that can only be quenched through violence.

I really enjoyed how dark and depraved this story was. Alec and Bailey have no limit to how deranged they will go to get what they want. The fun part of the story is that neither Alec nor Bailey fully know what they want until everything in their path is destroyed.

Another fun part of this story is not knowing exactly where things are headed. I never fully knew how dark and crazy these two stepbrothers would get and I was not disappointed. They were two characters that I never really knew where their mind was at and I liked that fun element of surprise.

So, I didn’t read the trigger warnings. Silly me. The gore took me a bit by surprise.

Drying blood was splashed over my body. I turned my head back and forth, looking at how good it looked on my skin. Red always was my color. 🖤

Thank goodness I'm addicted to that kind of darkness. I couldn't live without a little knife play. The play here just is a wee bit more.

“I’ll give you twenty-five minutes to get here before I get bored and start decorating your boyfriend’s place with his body parts.” 😳

The scalpel took up its position against my flesh once more. My eyes widened as he began to cut into me again. As he did, a slow smile spread across his face. It was both terrifying and hypnotic. I stared until Alec met my gaze.
Never stop looking at me like that.
I wanted to rip the restraints out the wall, wrap my arms around him, and ride his cock until he couldn’t take it anymore.
🔥

I had a hard time forming an emotional bond with Alec and Bailey, maybe the characters are a little too psychotic for me. They are perfect for each other. Their "relationship" is absolutely rotten.
If you want to read this book, you should leave morals and humanly acceptable behavior behind.

Stepbrother Serial Killers
3.5 Stars ⭐️

Holy shit was this a bloodbath of epic proportions with the most possessive, obsessive psychopathic characters I’ve read in ages. This has trigger warnings galore and it’s seriously fucked up but I enjoyed this so much. My only issue with it was the pacing felt off because this was so short but I could look past it because this entertained the fuck out of me. And it’s stepbrothers! I finally enjoy a book with this trope and it’s this fucked up wild ride. I dont know what that says about me. 🤣 But take note, THIS is how you write about psychopaths.😈🤭

So, Alec and Bailey are stepbrothers that were brought up by a serial killer who taught them his craft. Alec was able to leave at some point but he promised Bailey he’d come back for him and never did. Bailey is obviously enraged by this as the years go by and he plans his bloody revenge. Literal, bloodbath. That’s all I’m going to say but I’ll leave you with these fucked up quotes.

”Taking Alec’s rage was starting to get addictive. If I didn’t stop, if I couldn’t get away, I would stay and want more of it. And more of it. Until he went too far and sliced my throat open. Even then I would be happy. At least I’d go out with a smile on my face and my cum on his skin.”

”I would do anything for you, Bailey. Even if it kills me.”
“You’re not allowed to die,” he whispered “Not unless I’m the one slitting your throat.”
My chest warmed. Leave it to Bailey to say something so unhinged yet sweet.”

I’m definitely going to have to read more books by this author now. I couldn’t put this down so despite the pacing issues I’m giving it 4 stars because it was so entertaining. A definite guilty pleasure read and rating but the crazy in this was divine.

A fast-paced dark MM romance with Serial-Killer step-brothers, torture & a whole lotta murders!
This was the 2nd book in series that I specifically read today heh. This was another one of those that I wanted to check out, a couple skims & skips later, ended up completing it.

Alec is a psychology professor, his younger step-brother took admission to his class too! Bailey wanted revenge on Alec, as Al left him to the bastard of his father. That man had molded them in pain & blood, messed up. While Alec & Bailey bring out the worst in eachother, they bring out the best too. It doesn't take much more than a murder & Al keeping B, to bring out the protective was, the desire from start, the fantasy B never thought he'll have. Their trauma's so sad.

Be mindful of the warning, the step-bros are hot together, but there's plenty of murders, pain kink, knife & blood play.

I had a feeling that all the nosy side characters will die somehow by these bros, lol I was right. I'm glad that their bastard dad got what he deserved!!

I will read this book the right way without skipping those 2-3 chaps maybe someday. Gonna check out this whole twisted series!

Fast (skim) read & review: 15 Sept 2023.

This was so bad, I should've stopped at the second when I saw the quality going down the road, but because this is from different authors I read all and boy do I regret. I was bored out of my mind with this book. So predictable, confusing, downright nonsense that I didn't even know how I finished.

2⭐ for Bailey , the rest is meh

At this point in my reading journey I don't mind dark romances, but this story wasn't as focused on the development of the romantic relationship between the MCs, as it was on killing innocent people and I have a problem with that.

The whole chunk of the story was missing, the one where we should've gotten the background of the growing up and dealing with the horrors Alec and Bailey dealt with.

Stepbrothers were completely at mercy of their step/father, they were both sold out for sex when they were teens and later on used for killing of innocent people.

They both had severe mental problems and I understood all that. What I thought I was going to read was Bailey's pining and waiting for Alec and then when reconnecting, I wanted to feel that emotional switch from them being just stepbrothers from a dysfunctional family to now feeling something for each other that was supposed to be life-changing, right?

What I got was feeling very sorry for Bailey, because he was a young kid, completely on his own, having noone and trying to reach Alec, yet he treated him like a pest, not to mention he abandoned him and left that horror house without him.

I didn't like Alec at all. I didn't buy his sudden turnaround and love for Bailey. I felt like Bailey was constantly begging for scraps and I almost cried when he was miserably reaching out for Alec. Where's the grovelling, Alec???

I absolutely didn't like the fact they were murdering innocent people. I can get them doing things to each other or to bad guys, but this?
If they were a serial killer power couple, I could probably deal with that, but they just weren't doing it for me.

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting what I got when I read this book.
Its dark, with pseudo-incest, blood play, 2 deranged serial killers. Oh Boy!
Alec and Bailey are step-brothers who were bought up by a serial killer who taught them each his art.
Years after he leaves Bailey alone with the father, Bailey catches up to him in NY and at Alec's job.
Alec starts by torturing Bailey but slowly the 2 gain a respect for each other and work together with their toys.
Definitely not your average Valentine's book.

This started off strong. The tension and hatred between Bailey and Alec was delicious, and very clearly a mask for hurt feelings. While they do eventually come to understand and forgive each other, that forgiveness didn't feel as satisfying to me. I wanted more groveling, which isn't something I usually say, but here it felt necessary. Nevertheless, this was still a pretty good dark romance; I just had hoped for a bit more.

What a read! This book had so much packed in to it. If you’re looking for something that’s off the walls dark, this will do nicely.

Bailey and Alec are so unhinged. Delightfully so, actually. Both trained to kill at the hands of their father, they have each taken their skills and done separate things. I loved how “normal” Alec’s life was on the surface. His Professor Sandborne persona was so perfectly catered to a regular life. But underneath it all, he was so depraved. Bailey is back to expose Alec for revenge but something continues to pull him in Alec’s direction. Ultimately, he decides he must have Alec at all costs. Together, they are unstoppable and I loved every single moment.

Were there some things you had to just ride with even when it wasn’t believable? Maybe. But I was all in. I took the story for what it was and just went with it. Mind the triggers because they are no joke, but this was quite the read!

Overall Opinion
Wow, this one was DARK, as in morally gray serial killer MCs level dark! Alec and Bailey are the definition of unhinged and toxic and almost insane, and their story was utter craziness. It was novella length and therefore on the short side of books, but wasn't rushed, everything was developed and touched on aspects you wouldn't think were needed but fit the story perfectly. I can't say much without spoiling the story, but please heed the triggers and content warnings because gosh they are dark!

You know when you see “blood play/knife play”, in a trope for a book, you read it and it’s mostly just a few little cuts or the lick of a cut, THIS IS NOT THAT BOOK!!!!!

This book is brutal, crazy, wrong on so many levels, but I FUKING LOVED IT!!!! Not sure what that says about me 😂

Anyway I loved these two nut jobs, their crazy deep love was all consuming, they were both brought up in a very traumatic way so they never really stood a chance at normal life!

They are toxic, unhinged, possessive, jealous, psychos who are fucked up, but they kept me slicing through them pages 😉

I’m sick of seeing low ratings or DNF’s of this book. There are many TRIGGER warnings at the front of this book! READ THEM 👀 if something in there don’t sit right with you, then don’t real the bloody book!!

Triggers warnings are there for a reason if your sensitive read them if you’re not then go in blind!!!

This was one sick book.

The criminal imagination that the author possess is unbelievable.

The low rating isn't because of how wicked it is, but because it was so unbelievable and things simply don't add up. I am ready to read Sy-Fi or fiction as weird as it can be but the stories have to somehow coherent and some background details should make sense.

I also wanted it to be over, and this is a top reason for the one star. I didn't enjoy it enough to inhale it and wish it not to end.

Doesn't get more demented and unhinged than this book BUT while is started of in a deliciously sickening way it lost it's edge after the two psychos buried the hatched, even when they ended their dad the climax was lukewarm. Not a bad book but it lacked in some parts.

... y'all this was insane

I'm not entirely sure what I just read or why I liked it. I don't have the best track record with this author but I really enjoyed this series so I was willing to get them a chance. I'm glad I did but at the same time...I have thoughts. Let me try to explain.

Good things first. I loved how crazy possessive Bailey and Alec were. They were both insane and I was here for it. I also adored the smut. It was... messed up at times to put it lightly but I was still super into it. The standouts in this were honestly the characters and the smud which is all you really need to nail in a book like this.

Now as for the story, I won't give anything away but I don't think these two needed to be redeemed. I don't think it was necessary. I don't need to feel sympathy for these two in order to go on this crazy messed up journey with them. The whole thing with their father could have been scrapped or tweaked to again lean into the insanity. And as for Clark, more fun could have been had there. I get why it was written the way it was. This is very much this author style which is why it doesn't always drive with me and some people need reasons in justifications. Personally I would have enjoyed a psychotic and thrilling game of cat and mouse. There's a little bit of that in the beginning but it fizzles out very quickly.

I think if you like these kind of books you'll love this. It'll definitely be too much for some people. Oddly enough, I would have liked more. It does what it needs to do and that's all you can really ask. Four stars because while It didn't give me everything I wanted the smut was superb. And I say that fully aware that it is more than a little messed up and very twisted but I am ready to die on this hill.

Nothing like f***ing your stepbrother in your father's blood... yeah, you read that correctly, and trust me, if you're anything like me, your dark little hearts will eat that shit up 😈

This book is dark and depraved, and their relationship is toxic as hell. Alec and Bailey's lives were more of a horror story than anything. They were products of how they were raised and trained. Their traumas ran deep, and their love for one another ran even deeper. This book might as well be one big trigger warning, but again, my dark little heart enjoyed every second.

Read for a group challenge week 7. This was a fun one. Pretty much the darkest in the series but it reads light. Shame about the basement pets, other than that two serial killer step brothers reconnecting. Mentions of SSA. The comment about Bailey's tight ass from the father made me cringe. Tit for tat, kidnapping and a whole ton of death.

It was recommended by others when I wanted something off the rails.

VERY dark. Consider yourself warned.

I'm intrigued enough by how different this was to check out others in the series.
