Delinquent Daddy and Tender Teacher #1

Delinquent Daddy and Tender Teacher Vol. 1

Rate this book
A heartwarming Boys' Love romance between a single dad who used to be a "bad boy" and the gentle teacher who takes care of his kid!

In high school, studious Hitsuji had a secret crush on one of his guy friends--a friendly delinquent named Hatoyama--but never confessed. Years later, Hitsuji is a slightly anxious but responsible adult who found his calling as an elementary school teacher. One of his young students is upset with a sloppy and nonconformist dad--who turns out to be Hatoyama! When Hitsuji learns that Hatoyama is struggling to raise his son as a single parent, Hitsuji helps him out, first as a teacher and then as a friend who can teach Hatoyama how to clean his home and cook actual vegetables. As the men grow closer, some of Hitsuji's anxieties begin to melt around the welcoming (and grateful) Hatoyama. What will become of the feelings Hitsuji used to harbor for his first love?

This was also really really cute. A single dad falls in love with his kid's teacher <3 Doesn't that sound adorable? And also they knew each other back in high school and Hitsuji had a massive crush on him. But nothing came of it, and now (ten?) years later, they reunite and they become friends and Hitsuji helps Hatoyama with cooking lessons, caring for his kid, and helps him just being there for him. They eventually fall in love and yup it's very cute!!!

Hitsuji had a crush of his high school friend, Hatoyama, but never acted on it. Years later, he finds out that Hatoyama's son is in his class and having a hard time fitting in with his classmates. He decides to do a home visit in order to discuss it with his father and he learns that Hatoyama is a single father who only recently started caring for his son and is having a hard time getring used to everything he has to do. Hitshuji offers to temporarily help out around the house but in the process starts falling in love with Hatoyama all over again.

As sweet as this story could have been, I just found it incredibly boring. There was never any indication that Hatoyama thought of Hitsuji as anything more than a friend, then out of the blue, he tells him that he loves him. There wasn't any buildup to that moment, so not only did it seem out of place, but there was no emotional impact whatsoever. My only response was frustrated confusion and annoyance that I actually spent money on this mess. 2 stars

*****
If you want to read a much better version of this type of story, I recommend Papa Datte, Shiti by Celina Seo. The romantic relationship between Naruse and his housekeeper/babysitter, a fourth year college student named Asumi, builds up more naturally, it's hella steamy, there's lots of drama, and you really become emotionally invested in what's going on in their relationship. You can find it online free. You won't be disappointed.

Okay, why is this so realistic and adorable?! I love it! I love the content so much.

Hitsuji-sensei and Hatoyama-papa are lovers. They were high school friends and Hitsuji admired him from afar in the past. (I would love to peek at that past though, so gimme more!)

We clearly see the realistic rise and fall of their secret relationship. And how it was easily fixed by an alternative suggestion that is agreeable to both of them.

I just love that they are already in a relationship and yet they're still taking their time, developing and growing out of those insecurities and jealousies. Well, what can we truly say when it's a universal feeling and is human nature. Relationship indeed is progress and is not built in just a snap. This is really a good read!

A super cute manga, and I think it's the first one I read where they have a kid!

Hitsuji is an elementary teacher and one day realises that Saitou's, one of his student's, dad is a former classmate on whom he had a crush. This former classmate, Hatoyama, is struggling with being a single dad, so Hitsuji teaches him how to cook. I really liked that Hatoyama tried to be a good dad really hard!

Really sweet manga, they just got together too quickly imo.

This was such a sweet romance with so much tenderness and depth of feeling. I had hoped this would be cute, and it was, but it was also so heartwarming it made me cry a bit. Hatoyama is estranged from his young son, but is trying so hard to be a good parent. With Hitsuji's support, the three of them become a family of sorts and it's beautiful. I would be okay if this was a single volume, as it wraps up well, but there's a few more volumes and I'm eager for more.

Chaotic bi/pan and anxious closeted little cinnamon roll tries their best to take care of each other and little Hinata. The warmth and healing of this series is going to clear up my skin I swear.

2.75 stars? I'm not too sure with the rating but 3 stars also doesn't feel quite right lmao. Maybe too high expectations? It WAS cute and fluffy (which I wanted!) but I also wanted more interactions between the two mains and Saitou-Kun, the kid, just being domestic together. I would've liked for the romance to be more in the focus in the second volume but instead it was prominent in this a lot, too. Which just wasn't my preference in this case. :(

tw/cw: death of a parent (mentioned, not graphic), homophobia (not the mains)

I am obsessed with this story! I can't get enough of how sweet it is, while also having a good balance of what an adult relationship with a child would look like! They are so precious I want the best for them!

Well, this was adorable. It hits many familiar beats, but it does so in a charming way, and it definitely helps that both men genuinely want what's best for little Hinata. Double-daddy fluff at its finest.

Delinquent Daddy & Tender Teacher was so much softer than I was expecting. It pretty much melted my heart into a little puddle of goo. I loved that this had a single dad (Hatoyama) who was completely clueless but trying his best to raise a kid he hadn’t seen since he was a baby. And I loved that Hitsuji (his sons teacher) was so willing to jump in and help where he could. It was really sweet. I really liked the romance between them even if it happened a little faster than I would have liked. I loved that the adults also took Hatoyama’s sons feelings into consideration when they started dating. All in all this was just sweet and soft and it’s getting a solid four stars!

I thought this was a really cute read! Sometimes I feel like there aren't enough yaoi titles where there are kids in them and doesn't revolve around sex. The art was really soft and cute and I just really liked the interaction of the characters, how Hinata instantly gravitated towards Hitsuji-sensei but had trouble warming up to his own dad. Still, there wasn't anything that really stood out to me. There was a moment where I was confused with the grandma's actions and I felt them getting together was a bit abrupt, but still cute. I'm glad I checked it out!

THIS WAS SO ADORABLE!!! I had such a fun time reading this 🥺 I can’t even count how many times I giggled, laughed, and grinned because I was having such a lovely time.

The singular reason this gets 4🌟 and not 5🌟 is because the main characters get together within the span of a volume. I wish the first volume had simply focused on building the dynamic between Hitsuji and Hatoyama. We could have used a little more page time of them rekindling their friendship.

THAT ASIDE.

This was adorable as fuck. I enjoyed myself from beginning to end.

Part of what helped me enjoy this was the history between the main characters. It wasn’t about Hitsuji falling for the random hot dad of a student. It was him falling (again) for his high school crush. It also meant that the way Hatoyama was super comfortable around Hitsuji made so much sense!

Another element that was enjoyable was how Hatoyama was genuinely interested in learning from Hitsuji, so he could be a better father. None of it felt contrived or forced. He valued Hitsuji’s knowledge and actively used what he learned. He even sought other sources to learn more! WHAT A MAN 😍

I also enjoyed that there was some tension between Hinata and Hatoyama because Hatoyama was not in his life for several years. Although this manga definitely leaned into the idea of children being very forgiving, it still showed that things weren’t perfect between father and son because Hatoyama was an absent father (at his ex-wife’s request).

Finally, I couldn’t end this review without mentioning Hinata’s CRIMINAL GRANDMA. That woman tried to KIDNAP HIM and EMOTIONALLY MANIPULATE him into thinking his father didn’t love him. JAIL. I couldn’t believe neither Hatoyama nor Hitsuji went off on that woman. I sure was ready to!

Anyway. I fucking loved this. I highly recommend it!

Cute series, it is a BL that stole my heart. Hitsuji had a crush on a school mate years ago, and now as he his an elementary school teacher his crush is back a parent to one of his students.
They reconnect and go through the trials of keeping their relationship on the down low, because Hitsuju doesn't want to get caught dating a students parent. I love the acceptance of Hatoyama (the parent) on how he learns to be a single parent, to loving Hitsuji. Most of all, I love how Hinata (Hatoyama's son) grows on his own too. Super adorable series!

Really cute and wholesome with a tiny bit of spicy at the end with the bonus story. Hitsuji discovers that his secret crush from highschool is the father of one of his students. Who is also single and struggling to raise Saitou alone. So Hitsuji decides to lend a hand, not realising that his feelings for Hatoyama haven't gone away completely.

This was so heartwarming and sweet. I love reading healthy stories about single dads just doing the best they can at raising their children.

I also love how accepting and supportive Hatoyama is with Hitsuji and vice versa. They both fit so well together, and Saitou is such a cute little boy 🥹 I love their little family and I’m looking forward to reading the next volume.

VERY cute and will give you all the “you and me and kiddo make three” feels! I don’t know if it’s just the moment I was reading in but it didn’t quite give me the same emotional depth that Our Dining Table did, but I definitely still enjoyed it.
