Amorina Phillips is a young woman who can see and feel everyone's emotions. She can read energy everywhere she goes, which on rare occasion brings her into contact with soulmates. But to see and feel true joy, and to know that it does not belong to her, often leaves Amorina feeling unbearably lonely. One day, Amorina is invited to attend a training facility for students who can sense and manipulate different plains of energy. She travels to a hidden community that is tucked away in the mountains of Montana. At the training facility, students practice their unique gifts while preparing to become members of a team called The Kismet Keepers. Just when she thought her loneliness was finally coming to an end, an unknown entity starts attacking her new friends. As she tries to solve the mystery, Amorina stumbles into a maze of secrets and lies. She doesn't know who she can trust, and the next attack could be aimed at her.
This book was incredibly captivating because of the unique premise of the story! The female main character can see relationships between people through color and it is an incredibly interesting concept. This book really felt like a breath of fresh air reading something that breaks out of the overdone tropes so many books fall victim to. It was great to see true originality still exists in book! I cannot wait to start the second one!
Kismet Pending takes you on an adventure with a young woman trying to make sense of her ability to see others emotions and energy by vibrant and telling colors. Through Amorina’s POV, we get to explore an entirely new and secretive world that trains others with unique abilities, opening up Amorina to a new sense of community, the idea of true soulmates, and that not everyone can actually be trusted.
This is the 1st book in a 2 book series and I should have known I’d be left at the edge of my seat. Author, Emily Callahan, embodies the world building aspects you expect in a fantasy series while also creating characters that kept me on my toes. And now onto Kismet Suspended…
This book captivated me from start to finish. The author did an excellent job of truly pulling you into Amorina’s world. I found myself saying “just one chapter more” until I had devoured the entire book in two days. The ending made my jaw drop and I have never purchased a sequel so fast in my life. Excited to start book 2!!
