François Charles Mauriac was a French writer and a member of the Académie française. He was awarded the 1952 Nobel Prize in Literature "for the deep spiritual insight and the artistic intensity with which he has in his novels penetrated the drama of human life." Mauriac is acknowledged to be one of the greatest Roman Catholic writers of the 20th century.
Simply one of the best books about the Catholic faith I have ever read. If you want to get a better idea about what this whole faith is about, read this book. Never have I had my heart so robbed by a first chapter as it was with this book. His writings on the Nativity, the priesthood, saints, and just everything else that is found in this book are second to none. Mauriac was clearly someone who had a heart just absolutely stolen by the Lord, and I think this beautiful love is transmitted so well here. A hidden gem for sure.
