Six friends decide to come together to witness the end of the world. But as their lives intertwine, circumstances threaten to destroy the bonds which they once believed were unbreakable. If they don't want to die alone, they need to work together to mend their ties of friendship. Perhaps it's their last good deed in this world.
David was born in Preston, Lancashire. His love of writing started in primary school where his teacher would read out his short stories every week. He attended Leeds Metropolitan University (Leeds Beckett) where he was offered an opportunity to live and work in Chicago Illinois (USA). After living in Manchester UK for over eight years, he now resides in Chorley, where he lives with his partner, also called David.
Have you ever wondered what you would do if you knew the exact time that the world would end? In this book, that's exactly what happens with three couples, who are all close friends, in London. The world is told that a large asteroid is plummeting toward earth and can't be stopped, with the impact coming in exactly three months. The day and hour are known. People react differently having been told this news, with the three couples in the book not being any different.
If you like pre-apocalypse and friendship that puts them in situations to test their loyalty, then you give this book a chance to read.
The story is set in the UK 🇬🇧 as six friends telling from their perspective on how they're feeling and what is going on with them and keeping secrets from them to save their friendship group. But also seeking forgiveness and the changing dynamics of group friendships. But also it shows how they react to the news about an asteroid coming to Earth. And how they wanted to spend time with each other while trying to keep their secrets from coming out and ruining their friendship with each other.
The author did a great job telling character's perspective on how they feel and react to what going on with them and telling the story.
Disclaimer: I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This book was great at showing the Peppermint Petty aspect of the apocalypse. Of course people would steal, lie, and generally be crappy to one another. I'm glad this book really showed that. I loved the call backs to COVID-19 and the similarities. I also loved that it got a simple ending like The Shining, where someone is rescued.
I would have liked a little more about the destruction of the earth. I love reading about the scorched landscape and the challenges people face in their new reality. I'm a big apocalypse junky, so I love people's hot takes on how things will work.
