The setting and the very kinetic nature of the story are fascinating, but Tomino's odd tendency to repeatedly rail on how soft and spoiled modern society is within the prose is a little distracting. There's not really much of a conclusion to this volume, either, nor do I feel like I've learned much about Byston Well outside of a handful of monsters and tribes. It was just overall kinda hard to sit through.
