This is a top notch discussion of the relation of Habermas' early project in Theory and Praxis and, more relevantly, Knowledge and Human Interests. The relation of Habermas' project with Kant, Hegel, German idealism and Marx more generally is excellent and instructive. It is a slim volume, which makes its reward that much greater. Charles Taylor and Alan Montefiore offer a clear and accessible description of Hegel's contribution to the history of epistemology, and its overcoming. A very fine work that sits alongside Seyla Benhabib's Critique, Norm and Utopia as key resources in understanding the seminal contribution of the critical theoretical program to philosophical reflection.
