Coming down from his homestead in the mountains to the hustle of L.A. is the last thing widower and secret millionaire Henry Benson wants, especially since he unexpectedly has become the most eligible bachelor in the eyes of social media. Hiding from the world is his superpower, after all. Thankfully, his friend Chloe steps in as his fake girlfriend to take off the pressure as he faces a week of media scrutiny.
Chloe may melt his icy walls, but Henry will need to jump heart-first into a future he has ruled out long ago if he wants a chance at happiness.
Fake girlfriend trope with steam, a scuzzy neighbor and humor I “adore” this series. Who wouldn’t like former big, buff special ops marines who find their woman and lets her know? Eventually! Chloe is a camerawoman and at 26yo has a BIG secret. Now she’s going to entertain Henry from Port Providence while he does a publicity tour in Los Angeles for their reality show. While she stayed with 36yo Henry in Port Providence during the filming of the last episodes, she started having feelings for the recluse. In L.A. Henry begins to return those feelings and shares parts of his life that nobody else knows. They become closer than ever. But she lives in L.A. and he can’t stand the place. How would that work? On top of all the romantic angst Chloe has a scuzzy neighbor. What happens there? I’ve already bought “Craved” the next book in this series about West and a mystery woman. I love a romance between an alpha male and a strong woman. These stories hit the spot and if you like a romance with lots of tension between the M and F, you’ll love this book/series too. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through BookSirens.
This is a quirky story with an equally quirky plot. Widower, ex serviceman and self confessed grump, Henry has withdrawn into himself due to the tragic circumstances he has endured. So much so that he has taken to a remote cabin living in a tiny community somewhere in the wilds of Alaska.
Fo reasons that I won't spoil here, he finds himself in Los Angeles, not for the first time, and has struck up a friendship with bubbly Chloe, a mini whirlwind who, for her own reasons, has zero experience of men and romance.
This is a nicely rounded story but way too much apple pie for me - I'm more of a dark chocolate ganache kind of a girl, but the writing is solid.
But oh! I wanted to press my foot down hard on the accelerator and move this story forward, such was the slow flickering burn.
If you enjoy, gentle, sweet romances with no real angst then you'll love this.

Ex-military Henry Benson lives off the grid in Alaska. After the small community is showcased in a reality program, Henry is summoned to LA to promote the show before its next season. Grumpy that he needs to return to the mainland, he spends time with Chloe, a camerawoman from the first season whom he befriended. When an interviewer badges him about a women, Henry states that he already has a girlfriend: Chloe.
What I really liked about this novel was how natural it seemed for Henry and Chloe to turn their friends into something more. As they spent the week together, they shared an emotional intimacy with their secrets, aspirations, and feelings. I was rooting for them to get together.
Although this can be read as a stand alone novel, I wish I had read the first one in the series beforehand. I think this says something more about me than the story!
The novel has:
Fake dating trope Friends to lovers Ten-year age gap with older male A couple open-door scenes
Henry Benson is a widower and a millionaire is known as the most eligible bachelor on social media, since Chloe is filming a series on him and his buddies’ life there on the remote island of Port Providence, Alaska, after they got out of the marines, where he now lives, but now he’s coming down off his mountain to L.A. for promos for a week. Chloe is from L.A. She is the camerawoman at a production studio, Zinc Productions. She misses Henry, who she has a crush on, but they are just friends. Another little tidbit; Chloe is a virgin and is waiting for the right guy to build a life with. Henry swears he will not love again since his wife died about three years ago. They get close while he’s in L.A. for that week of promos. Their journey together is a slow burn and lots of realizations he never expected. I loved every minute of this story.
This was a sweet story with a very emotionally rich male lead. It seemed more like a harlequin romance than anything else.
I guess the reason for the rating is that it was a short story that also seemed very simple and lacked depth, especially in Chloe and the description of her. She seemed a lot younger than 26 in her thoughts and behaviors. Maybe that’s part of the contrast in the “age gap.” I also did not appreciate the sentiment of her friends saying, (in essence) boys who are mean to you actually like you. Can we get away from those really toxic male stereotypes yet?
I also did not get “alpha male” vibes from Henry. And I’m glad because he was the most enjoyable part of the book. A nice tame book but not sure I’d give this world another thought.

ADORED takes place mostly in Los Angeles. Henry comes to LA from Alaska to do promos for the series and Chloe is there. To avoid the female fans and questions about his past, he blurts out that Chloe is his girlfriend.
We learn all about Henry’s loss, his family and his other secrets. We learn how Chloe has been living and what she’s gone through. It’s a good story of two people used to being alone realizing they need another person.
I wanted to read the book because I enjoyed the first book so much. The survival and community aspect they lived in Alaska was a draw. This story has about 1/4 of the time spent outside of LA. It is really well written. Henry is full of surprises.

I'm a sucker for age gap romance and Henry is like my dream man , ex marine, older, with a touch of grumpiness and with a soft & caring heart! Like please someone bring me one like him!! I love him!
Chloe is such a sunshine, she instantly lifts up the mood whenever she's in it!!! I love her development from being a shy girl to actually asking what she needs!!!
It's a fast paced, quick read with humor, swoon worthy moments and a touch of spice! I definitely recommend this if you looking for something light-hearted and cute, it will definitely get you out of a reading slump and give you butterflies!
A big thanks to Billie and Booksirens for providing me with this ARC 🩷
When ex serviceman Henry has to go to Los Angeles to promote the series he and his special ops friends taped, he starts to sweat. No one knows he’s from LA and he’s not about to tell anyone, not even his best friends from the service. He likes living in remote Alaska since he had a great loss. He likes being alone and brooding. He loves the hard work there. Keeps his mind off of the tragedy.
Chloe is excited to see the grumpy, loner Henry. They got to know each other when she stayed in his cabin during taping of the series where all Henry’s servicemen friends, special ops are living off the grid. The series is a hit.
Now that Henry is back, he meets with people from the past like his attorney, his mother and two brothers who he knew nothing about. It’s time for Henry to face his past and move forward with his life. Can he let go? Will he allow himself to move forward? He loves spending time with Chloe. What will Chloe think when she finds out about his past and that he’s rich. The more time together, the more the chemistry gets hotter and hotter. This is a slow burning story that keeps you wanting to get to the end. Wonderful story and worth the read. Great characters. I received this book for free, for my honest review. I am leaving this review voluntarily. Loved it
Henry met Chloe when she went to Alaska with her team to photograph a mini series up there, now Henry is on his way to LA to do some interviews and drum up interest in the programme, as they are about to film a second series. While he's being interviewed Henry is asked how he feels about all the women interested in him, he sees Chloe and says he doesn't think his girlfriend would be too happy. Now they're pretending to be in a relationship, but Chloe isn't pretending and Henry is having feelings too. But they live miles apart and Henry can't live in LA, too many people and nothing like Alaska. Can they sort something out?

I love a good best friend fake relationship, and Henry and Chloe pull it off to perfection. Henry the former marine, turned grumpy recluse who finds himself in the spotlight and seeks solace in adorably sweet Chloe. No angst, no drama, just pure unadulterated romance with some super sweet moments as Chloe and Henry navigate their feelings for each other. Add in the fact that they live 2,000 miles apart it’s looking like this relationship won’t go any further. But maybe what Henry needs to kickstart his heart is to accept that he can love again, and that Chloe might just be more than a fake girlfriend. I received an advance copy of this book via BookSirens, this is my honest review.
This was the perfect dose of sweetness for me between darker reads. I’m a sucker for a military hero, especially one with a troubled pas, and this certainly meets those expectations. Also the grumpy/sunshine trope is 100% my thing, and it is perfectly represented here. The characters really grow and unlike some romance novels, you can totally see this couple falling in love for real reasons, and it feels like they would work in real life, so it doesn’t take you out of the story. I absolutely recommend this for fans of romance with a high amount of tension, low angst, and fair amounts of steam. This was the perfect fake dating, 1 bed, long distance romance. The FMC is a camera woman, and the MMC is a grumpy former marine who has become the hunk of the show she is filming. They are both lonely people who have found solace in each other. The story was fast-paced and kept me glued to each page. It was nice seeing Henry open up to Chloe naturally. It helped that he wasn't an arrogant alpha male. He was just a broken soul, looking to come alive again.
I really enjoyed this story, I can't wait to read the next one.

Billie Bloom gives us a second story about the Marines from Alaska and the all-female crew filming their found family in the wilderness. Henry wins/loses the contest to go to L.A. for publicity for Season 2. Chloe, who stayed with him in Alaska, will be his contact person there. No one knows, but he is wealthy from his lawyer father.
The story is a sweet and loving revelation of heartbreak and renewal for Henry and discovery and fulfillment for Chloe. There isn't precisely a HEA, but we know it will all work out.

Adored was a sweet funny emotional story Henry is a heartbroken grumpy widower and Chloe is a super happy outgoing woman who's looking for love they are a mismatched couple that work's both are very relatable and Henry's emotions over his deceased wife and child is heartbreaking for me Henry is the best part of the story lol heat level is very low all and all I was pleasantly surprised and look forward to exploring more stories by this author. I received a ARC copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review
He's a grumpy widower living a solitary life in Alaska. She's a young camerawoman with a secret. Henry comes to LA, and spends some time with his friend, Chloe. When pressed, he blurts out that she's his girlfriend. Let the games begin… I loved the book, my first from this author. It's sweet, funny at times, but there's an element of danger that rears its ugly head. I'll be looking for more in this series. I received an advance copy of the book, and this is my honest review.
Their story is a sweet and gentle realization of how much the other person means to them. They both have a great deal of respect and deeply care for one another, but allow the physical distance between them to be a huge obstacle.
Henry is Chloe's hero and friend. Chloe is his sunshine.
Well written love story of 2 people overcoming their past and present obstacles to find the type of love that endures

I loved this story of Henry and Chloe. She was a ray of sunshine. Henry was a grump but with good reason. They met during the first season filming. Chloe stayed with Henry. Now Henry needs to go to LA for press meetings, the last place that Henry wants to be. But Henry and Chloe grow closer as they fake date. I love these two together!! Love this book and series. Can’t wait for West’s story!!
This is a good best friend fake relationship story featuring Henry and Chloe. He’s a widower, an ex serviceman, a grump that has taken to a remote cabin living in a tiny community in Alaska. He returns to Los Angeles. She’s a bubbly tornado with no experience in men and romance. This book is ideal for readers that prefer gentle, sweet romances with no angst.
predictable but cute The story is predictable but still entertaining, what´s better than an alpha male protecting the women he loves while at the same time struggling to admit to his feelings? I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This story is charming and sweet. I love the fake dating trope so I enjoyed Chloe and Henry and the way their relationship developed. I liked the way their story turned out. Overall a good read.
This was an adorable story about Chloe and Henry. Henry’s just about the sweetest man you could ever meet. Really enjoyed the second book I’m the series!
I read this directly after book 1 and thought it was an improvement in the series. The story was interesting enough with a meet cute that was exciting.
