This was an enjoyable book, based mostly on what the author calls his predict-a-move method, whereby a player constantly evaluates his opponents plans and plans traps for him if he proceeds with them. The rest of the book is positional play through a variety of examples, by which readers are expected to learn themes, the knowledge of which can be applied to tournament play. It starts slow, then speeds through a number of tactics, identifying when they were used, and when the opportunity existed and they were missed. There is lots of practical help with respect to dealing with time-trouble, opening development, middle-game tactics and alertness, even in the end-game. Three stars.
