Well-groomed and wealthy, Mrs Tyler is not at all the sort of person with whom Rita expected to find herself sharing her cell - but then Rita is not the usual kind of jailbird herself. Mrs Tyler divulges that she is a compulsive shoplifter - a kleptomaniac.
I liked the split style of the narrative, going back and forth between Mrs. Tyler and Rita. At one point, though, a short narrative from Luz intrudes and instead of adding to the novel, is a distraction.
It's one of those "two women from opposite sides of the tracks meet and discover *gasp* they're really not so different" novels, but despite the ending being predictable, it was an enjoyable read.
This story of two very different women whose lives intersected when both were sentenced to three days in jail left me wondering what happened to them after the book ended.
