I am married to the president of Presley group of companies. There is a duty to fulfill. He needs a son to succeed him or he marries a second wife per tradition. Pressure mounts on me to produce this baby or I lose the most wonderful man ever to walk on the surface of work.
The delays in her conception would have been tolerable; her husband was her rock, her fortress. But for the law that requires her to conceive by the fifth year of marriage.
And boy, that fifth anniversary is just around the corner. The struggle with infertility is real, especially in a judgmental society, like theirs.
It doesn’t get any easier if the tormentors are right within your family.
Watch how Aisling and Duke voyage the rising seas, through the colorful chapters of Her Duty To The Heir Book 1, and how they sail afloat the mounting pressure from his powerful family.
I saw an ad for this on tiktok. I was beyond excited because this had the tropes I LOVE.
However, the book reads like a screenplay script.
Example: this is a direct quote, formatting
(Elena shakes her head vigorously at her daughter.) ELENA “That shouldn’t be.” AISLING “Everybody has been waiting for it to happen, mother. I’m so disappointed and frustrated with my body that it’s still not here after all these years.” (Elena leans in and wraps her arms around her.) ELENA “The right time isn’t now.
All actions in the book are in parenthesis. All conversations are in block dialog form.
The content is not a problem, and if the author reworked their writing style to make it an actual novel, this would have been enjoyable.
Saw this on tik tok and got so excited to read it. The description and everything is right up my alley. The description and the tik tok is the only good thing about this book. I'm not even sure I can call it a book. The formatting was so weird. It read like a screen play, even though it was supposed to be a novel. I don't know if this was done on purpose or if the author didn't realize what was happening when it went to publishing. This book could be amazing with some serious reformatting and restructuring. I can't believe I actually finished. It was so hard to read. And I didn't even get any sense of the characters. Very disappointed to say the least
I read this book because of tik tok and let's just say the plot is good but it could be better. It definitely could be written better if I am being honest. One thing, I noticed is that it had way too many POV's. Should have just been the husband and wife. It was written like it was a tv show.
I wanted to continue reading the series but as soon as i finished this book and returned it to kindle unlimited library the rest of the series was removed from amazon. The only way it still existed is because it's listed on good reads.
The wording alone in this book made it difficult to keep reading. At some points it’s like there is a random word in the middle of the sentence or like a phrase was rearranged so that it didn’t make sense anymore. The plot and dialogue is also extremely elementary, making it a two star read for me.
saw this one on tiktok and had high hopes lol. this was…absurdly hard to follow. great premise. poorly written characters. strange writing style and dialogue with loads of perspective shifts that didn’t make much sense. the plot grew more convoluted as it progressed, and then nothing even gets resolved by the end?
DNF’d 20% in the writing is just awful. The dialogue between the characters is awkward and there is no explanation of the history between the characters.
actually really disappointed, i read this because i saw an ad on tiktok but it is so poorly written and worded, not to mention that it’s written as if it were a screenplay. 0/5
I read all four books just so I could confidently tell you it’s not worth it! It was advertised on tik tok so I decided to give it a read the part advertised doesn’t even happen until book 3. It was convoluted and just down right ridiculous at times. The leads have no chemistry and barely interact at all throughout the series. The author bends over backwards trying to justify him trying to cheating; it never works btw. The writing was confusing and sometimes made absolutely no sense. The author frequently mentions or alludes to the Catholic Religion and Ideals which I found off putting at times especially towards the end of the series. Having said all of this I never want to discourage anyone from writing I just think they need to make pretty significant improvements. Also I’d recommend she doesn’t advertise on tik tok unless it’s target toward Catholic individuals cause it’s not going to do very well on Book Tok😬
