When Kit Ramsey arrives in Inismon, Ireland, to lay claim to his inheritance, he realizes the townspeople of this tiny, impoverished village are convinced that he is the miracle they've been praying for. But Kit—the natural son of George Ramsey, the fifteenth marquess of Templeton—isn't interested in being anybody's hero. All he wants is the chance to become his own man. But inheritances come with responsibility, and Kit quickly learns that his new title of earl of Kilgannon comes with plenty of strings attached—including the guardianship of Mariah Shaughnessy, the beautiful baker of Inismorn . . . the beautiful baker whom he must teach how to be a proper lady.
Fresh out of a convent, Mariah knows that, with Lord Ramsey's deep pockets, he is Inismorn's last hope for survival. She accepts Kit lessons in social graces—not because she wants to become the perfect gentleman's wife—but because she dreams of becoming the love of Kit Ramsey's life.
Rebecca Hagan Lee has had many different jobs, earning her beads of experience on the necklace of life with each one, but her desire to write was constant. After graduating from college, she set out to make her mark in the world of television journalism, but somewhere along the way, she decided she was a small town girl at heart and settled in a town where the media consisted of a weekly newspaper and an AM radio station.
Seeking a creative outlet, she turned to writing romance and began to write stories far different from those in the world of television news, but not that far removed from the hundreds of episodes of Daniel Boone, Big Valley, Gunsmoke and Bonanza she had watched growing up. She decided to create stories where good guys win, bad guys lose, prostitutes have hearts of gold and the heroes and heroines who fall in love and persevere are richly rewarded with incredibly bright futures and happy endings. In her world, heroines don't die or get killed off to make way for the next episode's new love interest. Her heroines get their men and help them become ideal husbands, lovers, friends and fathers.
Rebecca lives in a small southern town with her husband, a miniature schnauzer, two rat terriers, a half dozen barn cats, and two extraordinary horses. She is currently seated at the computer working hard to make her dreams come true, or riding off with her hero into the sunset. . .
I really loved this book. At first, I thought it would be boring but... wow. It's been 3 days since I finished it and I'm still shaken by Kit's jokes and their love for each other. They waited for 14 years, who does that? And the ending like for real. What he said to the squire when he came to the Telamor... What happened in the art gallery... I remember reading this when my roommates were asleep, I had to contain my laughter so I wouldn't wake anyone up—staying up late to be tired during sessions... so worth it!

I still dont think i comprehend the complexity of Kits family tree, so to speak. I feel like I spent so much time trying to make sense of it all and way too much of the book was devoted to this. It wasn't bad, Mariah and Kit were cute. A very fast read (I gave up and scrolled past the parts I mentioned before, leaving me with very little story left)
I have never read anything by Rebecca Hagan Lee before but I will read more of her works. This book was filled with high hopes, secrets, plots, twists, and revelations. Kit is obnoxious at first but within a short time his true self emerges. Mariah is ever hopeful that her life will turn out well. Mariah's Mother and father were both deceased and she lived in a convent that cared for orphans. She was only five and would sneak out of the convent at night to the tower of an old Castle and she would stargaze. She believed her mother was the brightest star she could find. One night an eight year old English boy visiting Ireland happened to find her in the tower and Mariah told him about her mother and the stars. He was shocked that she had no parents and impulsively told her he would come back to Ireland and marry her. He left her his own child-sized lantern so she would not have to walk in the dark and left when he heard his father calling him. Our story begins 14 years later when Kit inherits some property and a title. He and his two best friends leave for Ireland where Kit's inheritance happens to be. He has inherited a Castle and is the Earl of Kilgannon. Upon his arrival at Telamor Castle he learns that he has also inherited a young ward. This is very disagreeable to him but he has no choice but to accept his responsibility and is determined to find the child a governess. The local priest delivers more news to the new earl and informs him he was present at his birth. The priest is full of knowledge about the history of Telamor and Kit's parentage. He also knows a lot about Kit's new ward.
Rebecca Hagan Lee is a phenomenally gifted five star author and I'm thrilled to have found her novels. Her originality and storytelling is unparalleled; weaving together drama, suspense, intrigue and romance into exceptional love stories. For Mariah and Kit destiny calls.
Such a beautiful story! Bliss and love shared in this book pages. Impossible not to love this family and the immense care and deep love they share. Loved their story - so sweet how they meet and life brings them together! A must read! Please keep sharing the story of this family and Kit's close friends as well. A must read!
This is the second in a generational romance series. I like revisiting characters decades later and seeing the love (and sex) still strong. Children grow up fast and fly the nest to find love and adventure.
I liked this book even better than the first in the series. It was like a fairy tale but the characters were very human and I liked them all. Like in the last book you have to wait until the end to find out what really happened.
Wow, I am the first to write a review on this book. Well, here goes... The characters were very like-able, sweet, and believable. The love story was fun to follow, BUT... I felt that too many pages were used up with trying to explain the background, who is whose parent, etc. I kept wanting to skip the numerous explanation parts to get to the dialogue, but I forced myself to read thru it (and I still wasn't too clear on who was who in the past) and by the end of the book, I really felt all of family 'who is my parent' drama was unnecessary and the story would have been sweet without it.
It is rare that I pay $3.99 for an ebook. I have Kindle Unlimited and also review ARCs (advanced reader copies) of books for an unbiased, fair review. So, if I pay for a book, it's because I'm very excited about the story and have high expectations. Thankfully, this story didn't disappoint.
In this installment Kit is all grown up and inheriting a title courtesy of his birth mother's family. He's reunited with a girl he met at the age of 8 while visiting Ireland. It's a beautiful romance and a heartfelt story.
