Since the official synopsis is missing, I'm quoting it below for other potential readers:
"I accidentally spent the night with the head of the Bratva. And now I’m pregnant.
After the worst week of my life, I let off some steam with a much older stranger.
Little did I know that I’d be staring at two stripes on a pregnancy test.
Little did I know that his next step is to force me to marry him.
He says he needs an heir, and I’m carrying it.
He says he’ll claim me as his mafia bride even though I don’t want to.
The Bratva doesn’t accept no. The Bratva takes what it wants.
And so the next thing I know, he’s got me blindfolded in the back of a van.
His fingers on my voluptuous curves make me forget that I don’t want to marry him.
His kiss on my bruised lips makes me forget that I was trying to escape.
He has taken all I have but given me a pregnant belly.
Will his ruthless hands break me for good?
Or will they heal my most vulnerable of places?"
This is the first book of the author's that I've read & I would at least like to continue reading the rest of the books in the series as well. This doesn't end in a cliffhanger & I assume the following books will follow the other Morozov brothers.. Although it's a kidnapping forced mafia marriage book, it doesn't really cross the extremes. There is some typical power struggle conflict but nothing too complicated or brutal. This is a good mafia book is you aren't looking for something too dark that can be read within hours.
Reina, the FL, has unjustly been let go from her job & decides to have a night out to feel better. She meets Ivan, the ML, & their strong attraction ends with them spending the night together. Reina's fear of them being from two different worlds & she doesn't know he's part of the Bratva yet leads her to sneak away in the morning. When Reina learns that she's pregnant, she tells Ivan but once she learns that he's head of the Bratva she runs away. Of course he finds her easily & forces her to marry him & stay with him.
Although Reina thinks about running away, she's also a practical thinker & won't put others, including herself, at risk. Her communication with her friend is monitored & she isn't allowed to go out by herself but she's not treated badly. Those reasons & her attraction towards Ivan are why it's easy for her to accept her situation, though that's not to say that she's happy with it. However, as the story goes on, it's clear that Reina can handle being with the head of the Bratva.
From their first meeting, Ivan had feelings for Reina so he is quite happy with the unexpected pregnancy. Because of his position, he doesn't want to show those feelings & make her target. Don't worry he's not cruel towards her & the worst he does is act like she's only a guest in his house rather than his wife,Although he pretends not to care about her in front of others in order to protect her, he does his best to show he cares in private. When he says that he will give her what she wants, he proves it.
As I mentioned, there is a power struggle between his & another family, but it's not difficult to follow & doesn't overwhelm the romance between the leads. Aside from kidnapping her, there is not much conflict between them either. So, if you enjoy darker & more cruel kidnapping forced mafia marriage stories, then you'll be left wanting more. But, if you're fine without those things, then this book is worth a try.
