Rate this book

Finding true love can be murder...Newly divorced and back in her hometown, Melody Tanner is ready to change her life for the better. Her girlfriends think it's the perfect time to revisit the lists they came up with a joke at her bachelorette party--a list of five men they could sleep with no matter what. But when Melody looks at her list, she discovers two of the men are already dead. Worse, the homicide detective she contacts just happens to be her #1, former Marine Nick Walker!

Nick isn't taking the coincidental deaths too seriously, until the other two men on the list die suspiciously. Melody thinks the only way to keep Nick alive is to let him go. But Nick's willing to take the risk. Besides, if he does have
to check out, there's no place he'd rather do it than in Melody's arms...

New York Times Bestselling author, Leslie Kelly writes sexy romances and dark romantic thrillers. A four-time RWA RITA Award nominee, eleven-time Romantic Times Award nominee and 2006 RT Award winner, Leslie has become known for her delightful characters, sparkling dialogue, and outrageous humor in her romances, and for the dark grittiness of her thrillers. Since the publication of her first book in 1999, Leslie has gone on to pen more than forty sassy, sexy romances for Harlequin Temptation, Blaze, and HQN.

In 2009, Leslie began tapping into her love for dark suspense by penning several books under the pseudonym Leslie Parrish. The Black CATs and Extrasensory Agents series quickly put Leslie on the must-read list of romantic-suspense fans.

Tired of writing under various names, Leslie decided to go into her next genre--futuristic thrillers with a suspense element--under her real name. She released her dark, gritty Veronica Sloan books, and reissued the Black CATs series, as Leslie A. Kelly.

For Melody Tanner's bachelorette party, 6 years. ago, she and her 4 best friends decided to each write a list of the five men they could sleep with no matter what. Now 6 years later, she is single again and ready to take charge of her own life.

When one of her friends bring out the lists, Melody is astounded to learn that two of the men on her list are dead. And more surprising, the detective she speaks to is none other than Nick Walker, her number one pick on her list.

Walker isn't too worried ... until 2 other men on the list die suspiciously.

This is a re-read for me, actually I've read it several times over the last few years. This is billed as a Romantic Suspense, but it reads more like a Romantic Comedy with a little suspense thrown in.

Mel and her best girl friends are a hoot. One has been raised with super rich parents, one is a black-American, one is a dingbat and t hen there's Mel. She was a teen model until she put her foot down and told her mother No More! Nick Walker has a family that he is slowly learning to communicate with again. He has an ex-wife who did everything she could to destroy that family.

Mel and Nick have an instant attraction leading to some very descriptive intimate encounters. I love how all the characters enact with each other. Some areas are just plain laugh out-loud funny.

What a let down.

I was highly entertained by the story of the first Walker brother (Johnny Walker; the hero, not the drink) and I was excited to read Nick Walker's story.

I shouldn't have read it.

I love Nick Walker's character in SHE MAKES ME CRAZY, in which the title of the first book should be entirely appropriate for this one. He was badass and the story had a lot of potential. The author could focus on Nick's life and his demons to conquer as an ex-marine or maybe, his life back in Joyful. But noooo. We have to stick to Melody's freaking list and the dead bodies connected to it.

I hate indecisive heroines. Makes me wanna snap their pretty necks. It doesn't matter if Melody's decision is understandable or totally relatable. I hate it when the story drags just because she can't decide to make a choice.

Dex and Rosemary's side story is way much better than the main H/H. And the mystery. Oh gods. Middle-grade mysteries had hooked me better than this one.
Maybe it's just me and my high expectations that killed the book. But still.. Indecisive heroine+sorry-ass mystery= bored reader.

Heh. Let's move on.

Enjoyable, sexy romance
4 stars

This is the second Leslie Kelly book I have read and the follow up story to her previous book She Drives Me Crazy. And this one definitely has made me a fan.

The story centres around Melody Tanner who is making a fresh start in a new town after a very messy divorce. Her friends think it's time she cheered herself up by having a fling with a guy from the lists they made at Melody's bachelorette party - of guys they could sleep with no matter what.

But when the guys on Melody's list start dying suspiciously she has to call in the police and the detective put on the case just happens to be her number one guy - former marine and bad boy Nick Walker.

After that there's nothing but drama, romance, murder, mystery, arguments, sex, interfering friends and the theft of a set of special peacock panties as the pair try to solve the murders and start to fall for each other.

Both Melody and Nick are great characters and there are plenty of colourful supporting characters and secondary storylines adding something extra to the story. You really get to know and love them all throughout the book. The story itself is fun, sexy and fast paced with something always going on to keep your interest.

The book does follow on from She Drives Me Crazy but although there are references to that book - this story stands alone. But for those who have read the previous offering - it's nice to catch up with Johnny and Emma-Jean again.

I really enjoyed this book although I only gave it 4 stars as I did feel that the ending was slightly weaker than the rest of the book. Having said that, I would definitely still recommend it to those enjoying fun, sexy romances with a little murder thrown in. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

After reading the synopsis for this book, I was thinking along the lines of Linda Howard's Mr. Perfect but this was not the case. This was a very light, fluffy read where the heroine's never really in danger and what are supposedly side characters play almost as large a role as the 'main' characters. The 'mystery'/suspense was very easy to figure out and definitely not compelling, and the relationship between the main characters is very much based on sex, leading to some frequent and pretty graphic scenes. Although it starts out slightly humorous, it soon becomes dull and focused on the *mainly sexual and predictable* relationships between the characters.

Bottom line: If you're looking for suspense, humor, mystery or a Linda Howard-type novel this will leave you unsatisfied; if you're simply looking for a light romance novel with lots of sex this is the book for you.

Melody and Nick are two of my favorite book characters ever. Most likely becuase Nick is so gorgeous, and Melody knows how to weild a "deadly weapon" aka, a golf-club. Seriously, they are both messed up in very realistic ways. Mel was a child model and never really had a normal family life. She thought her marriage at 21 would be different. Six years later, she winds up back in Savannah, Georgia. Nick is an ex-marine-current-cop, who experienced a quick marriage and an even quicker divorce at the tender age of eighteen. Once burned and twice shy is an attitude both seem to share but can their similarities and attraction hold up against the sudden dropping dead of men who happened to all be on Mel's joke of a "Free Cheat" list.

Very well written, and one of the most entertaining books that I have recently read, Ms. Kelly somehow mangages to add the story of Rosemary and Dex into the background. Funny,

I finished this fairly quick read last night. Overall, just OK. It takes quite a while to get into any of the mystery or romance part of the story. There is a nice red herring bit that made me think one way for most of the book, thinking I was so smart to have figured it all out, when, bam! That ain't it, sister. On the romance side of things, some of the sex scenes are really hot and some are a little cheesy, but fun all the same.

Melody, a former child/teen model, suddenly finds herself alone and emotional after an ugly divorce in which "the dick with the drill" got all her money. Before you know it, she's embroiled in the mysterious deaths of 2 of the men from her list she made at her bachelorette party years ago. Is there a connection?

Kick-ass book. Nick and Melody were both scorned in love and have little faith in relationships. and love. She makes up a fantasy sex list in which all the men mysteriously keep dying. Hilarious and just plain good story. You can understand both characters so well and can easily relate, even with such a weird topic. the emotions are feel-able and way he talks to her is swoon-worthy.

I mistook this for more of a mystery and as a consequence was disappointed overall and ended up wishing I hadn't battled on to the finish. Even though this is not really my thing story wise, I did like the writer's style of writing and if a slightly raunchy romance is what you are looking for then you will enjoy this offering.

Pretty good book, but the first one in the series was better. I was expecting it to take place in Joyful (the town in the first book), so I was sad when it didn't. The characters were pretty sweet, but once they fell in love, they became a little too flowery for me.

This is great. She pulls out her old list of men should could sleep with no matter what. Pretty ridiculous so far. But then they start dying and she keeps being put together with her number one man.
