This is the first entry in the Club B BDSM Club romance series.
Sebastion is a strong and gorgeous athlete and business owner (horse ranch and horse showing). He is a complete novice to submission but realizes his interests and inclinations. And, conveniently, his ranch abuts the property of Club B. Mistress Vivienne has been refusing to accept a submissive for years, only topping at the club.
The story arc that follows is delightful (and, sure, utterly predictable). That attraction is intense. The sex and D/s is subdued compared to other series in the subgenre, but that is OK.
I have some issue with five years of denial about the end of an earlier relationship can be overturned by a ten minute conversation with an insightful friend. But that is, again, a very common trope in the genre. "Aha! It wasn't all my fault! I need to fix this!"
A well-written first book in the series. I will be continuing to read the series.
He wants a relationship with her, she wants to control him. While lingering with Sebastian in the dungeon, Viv doesn't want to get into a second failed relationship. And yet she is moved by his need to get her into his life and willingness to serve her.
Can a domme fall for a customer especially when he promises her what she really wants?
An interesting read how a domme is conflicted with what she likes and what she wants from a submissive.
Though it has plenty of spicy moments this book (and indeed this series) dives a little deeper. What is it that motivates these people, what does a healthy femdom relationship look like? How to deal with past bad experiences. It's a sappy romance and a bdsm novel but it is also a nice human picture of BDSM. A loving contrast to both public perception and many other stories
If you like knowing every thought of the characters (instead of dialogue), you will like this author. I like the characters. She has a quiet writing style; not much emotion. All the books follow the same formula + feature a different BDSM relationship; otherwise, everything is the same. Plus they all have annoying, silly, misspellings, like 'coral' for 'corral'.
Nice story. Different power dynamics than the majority of books and this played out very well. Not as much kink as I expected but a good introduction to kink.
DNF hated it. Way to cringey and so typical girl doesn’t want a relationship mets a guys two days later she basically in love but still denying it. Ugh just hated it
