This is good and it gives you the essentials concerning the speaking arena but . . . what of it? Do you want to make it an exclusive career? Consider what one famous speaker said as he was going up on stage, "I'd much rather be doing anything else." Sure, it's great if you're attempting to establish uniqueness in your field to stand head and shoulders above the rest, to do it as a promotional sideline, but it will burn you out. And if you're looking for wealth, this should only be one stream of income, not your sole source of support. Like having only a job, it's not good business. In this changing world where we are required more and more to take care of our financial present and future and to ensure the proper income (the dollar is forever shrinking) then wealth, as many of the current in-the-know gurus will tell you (Kiyosaki, T. H. Eker, Mark Victor Hansen) is NOT an option. Wealth on, Garth! Wealth on, Wayne!

Money Talks is a really good book on the topic of public speaking business. The author provides a practical perspectives on how to negotiate speaking fees, find the right audiences, how to respond to typical and atypical questions, and how to get to the real decision-maker, among many other useful tips, checklists, and resource considerations. I found the book useful because I am already a public speaker with some experience. If you're ready to take your business to the next level, consider adding this book to your library. I'm glad I did.

I think Alan Weiss is one very smart man who has done very well for himself and he likes to share his knowledge with other smart people. I"ve heard him speak a couple of times and he is very witty and amusing with some 'slap yourself on the forehead' kind of common sense wisdom that we all can use and learn from.

If you're just getting started in the speaking business, this is a great book on the business of professional speaking and getting paid for it.

Written a fair time ago but timeless in its message and methods, as long as you can mentally update the technology aspects in your own head. I wish I'd read this 3 years ago, would have saved a lot of time and anguish!
