A brand new small town series from USA Today Bestselling Author J.H. Croix!
Rhys Cannon is that kind of guy—wealthy, family means everything, loyal, and sinfully handsome. I hate him.
He's my brother's best friend, the teenage crush who broke my heart, and the guy I will *never* fall for.
When I first laid eyes on Rhys Cannon again, he almost didn't recognize me. Figures. I had such a crush on him in high school, and he barely noticed me then. So what if I basically broke into his house by accident? It was a huge misunderstanding.
I'm broke, my life is in shambles, and now, wealthy, too H-O-T to handle Rhys is my neighbor. Freaking great. Totally not what I need.
Rhys & Haven meet again in this short, smokin' hot romance.
Rhys & Haven's story kicks off the Fireweed Harbor Series. This story is perfect for readers who love small town romance, tangled family ties, sassy heroines, second chances, hate to love, surprise pregnancy, slow burn, emotional romance with a dash of angst, plenty of swoon, and a billionaire protective hero who has to give it all to win the heart of the girl whose heart he broke.

When we meet is a prequel to a new series by this author. I have many of her books but have gotten too absorbed in others and not quite gotten stuck in yet. Hoping a new series would be the way to do it…and I feel I made the right move👍
Haven has come back to her small hometown after a relationship ended in disaster. But finds herself in the wrong unit which is confirmed when her high school crush, Rhys, who also happens to be her brother’s best friend shows up. This sparks an attraction between them that neither can resist😍
A bit of a shocking ending…I look forward to see what’s in store for this couple next😳
Haven crushed on Rhys when they were in school but he was her brother's best friend and three years older than her. But circumstances threw them back together in their hometown of Fireweed Harbor as neighbours. Rhys hadn't really noticed Haven before but now that she has grown up he finds it impossible to resist his attraction to her. Haven finds her feelings rekindled when she returns home. However, she has trust issues after a failed relationship and Rhys' past comes back to throw doubts in any future they might have together.
I liked the way these two met and the history between them, I believed in their connection and chemistry and felt a connection to them both, I would have liked to have seen some more of their relationship developing so am looking forward to continuing their series in book one.
This is the great start of a new series and now I can’t wait till Rhys and Haven’s story continues. They have come together after years of being away from their small town. He is her brother’s best friend who she had a crush on in high school. I can’t wait for their HEA.
Well written, witty, prequel for JH Croix new Fireweed Harbor series. Of course she had to rent a house next door to her brothers best friend whom she had a crush on in high school. This is Rhys and Havens getting reacquainted story.
I enjoyed the novella that featured Haven Rivers and Rhys Cannon. I was surprised by their chemistry; it was hot. They both at one time lived in Fireweed Harbor, Alaska. They were acquainted through her brother Deacon, who works as a hotshot in Fairbanks. At thirty-two, Rhys is a billionaire, but by no means snooty; neither is his family.
On Haven’s first day back in town, she heads straight to the rental, or what she thought was the rental, and, well, since the two houses were side by side and identical, it's a simple mistake. However, she ends up in Rhys's place, leaving a trail of glitter as she leaves to go next door. Not knowing Rhys owns both units. But something about Haven does it for Rhys. He can’t lie; he never paid attention to Haven before now.
Within the first week, he happened to be washing dishes when he looked up to see Haven’s kitchen on fire. He grabbed the fire extinguisher and ran over to put out the fire. Once out, the two unite in a lip lock that surprised them both since it had never happened before. Not even a second glance from his second. Far too many glances from hers. Because boy, did she have a crush on him back in the day.
A few days have gone by without him talking with her. He has started going in to get coffee on the regular because, although her real job is creating invitations for different occasions, she needs a side gig to help pad her bottom line after her a-hole ex-embezzled funds from their joint business account. That job is being a barista. Just until she gets established in town for art and cards. Every time he sees her, he wants her more.
He talks to her brother, feeling him out about his thoughts about why she hates him...? Her brother gives her some good advice. See where this story takes them both. Very good story. Glad to see him happy after all the problems he and Archer had with his grandfather.
I really enjoyed this beginning to Rhys and Haven’s brother’s best friend romance. This prequel does not get us to their HEA, it is just the start of the sizzling chemistry and attraction that they cannot ignore. As long as you understand that, you’ll enjoy the story. I alternately smiled and fanned myself through this whole prequel and was sorry it ended. Since this is a prequel to the Fireweed Harbor series. We get some background on Rhys and Haven, the town, Rhys’ family, and it ends on a cliffhanger. Despite being short, the prequel was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters, and an engaging storyline. Clearly I am going to read the rest of their story in book one because I am hooked in now.
These two have my curiosity piqued. From their reintroduction at the house, to getting reacquainted, to the sparks that were flying, all of it pulled me in.
I wasn't expecting it to end when it did. I thought there would have been a smidgen more, but I guess that's where the full length book will probably pick up.
I read this short story within a couple of days. I loved the way the author describes everything, from the way the main character, Haven returns home, to the way Rhys feels about her. I felt like I was with them in the story. And then, there was the steamy romance. It was short, sweet and funny. I look forward to reading more from this author!
"When We Meet: A Firewood Harbor Prequel" was a story about Haven and Rhys. Rhys is her brother Deacon's best friend from high school and Haven had a crush on him back then. Haven moves back to town. Her rent house is next door to Rhys's house. The story is so short that is all I am saying about it. It does end with a good start for the rest of their story.
What an amazing story about two people who are trying to find their own way, only to have their lives interrupted by an unknown person. Sadly one will feel betrayed, the other will have to fight for them both. Life is never easy, but can love prevail?
As always a book by JH Croix is a treat. Although this was just a quick preview it was engaging, full of steam and very believable. I. Looking forward to reading the full book
Rhys and Haven's story starts off breathtaking and hot. I love both characters and their truly magnetic attraction. I devoured this prequel and can't wait to read the sequel because that cliffhanger at the end? Boy, it's really killer!
I always have a soft spot for small town romances and this short prequel is an easy read that makes me want to continue reading the remaining books. The main characters are opposites in many ways but hopefully in the next book we get our HEA as this ends with a cliff hanger.
When We Meet: A Fireweed Harbor Prequel by J.H. Croix – The older brother’s best friend trope is always fun! Just when it all seems peachy, lawyers get involved! Lol Happy Reading!
Her life didn't go as she'd planned. Moves back home and starts over. Boom! High school crush enters picture and everything changes. Lots of on the page romancing so brace yourself. Enjoyable read.
Haven & Rhys were a couple that were meant to meet bringing them together! This is just a prequel that lets you know what the story & people are like but, you will love of everyone of the characters! I definitely recommend this and the rest of it! This is an ARC but being free doesn’t influence how I feel about this book!
I read the short story version of this prequel and was anxious to see where Rhys and Haven were heading. Their romance is just beginning and I can’t wait for their complete journey in Make You Mine. Ms Croix never fails to put the steam into her characters’ lives and this story is no exception. It is a quick read that’ll put a smile on your face…until the very end!
