The sword of legend, ancient magic, and a dead man's secrets--together they could save Brinnie's world or end it forever.

Brinnie barely escaped Mordizan with her life. Battered and broken in body and soul, she knows she's running out of time. And though she has discovered the identity of Mordred's bane, no one knows where to find the legendary weapon.

To discover the truth, she and Marcus must journey to Castelon and seek the aid of the Council. However, their actions at Mordizan brand them as enemies and war criminals. Between Mordred's armies engaged in full-scale war and the political machinations of the Council, Brinnie struggles to balance the battlefield and the courtroom while estates fall before Mordred's wrath.

As magic ravages her own body, threatening her survival, the allure of ancient, forbidden power grows brighter. And only one man holds the knowledge of the weapon that could destroy Mordred once and for all--a man they buried in the gardens of Wraithwood.

Bittersweet to say goodbye to this series, this world and characters. I am happy I finally managed to get a five star out of one of them, as I knew I would. This finale did not disappoint. I think if you liked book one, even just a little, you have to continue on with the series because these characters? They will stick with you. The addition of Marcus as a character in book two was needed for the romantic subplot, and it worked so well. Him and Brinnie together are just so well suited, their banter is always top tier. And the fact that they can communicate through their minds is just one more reason to love this series! Telepathic communication! I just find that so cool. And as Brinnie grows you grow with her, the writing style also evolves in the sense that it reads less young and therefore is more enjoyable to your average older reader. These books are not very short but they do fly by. They just flow so smoothly. And the twists and turns, the imagery, the magic. Anyway. I really can’t recommend this series enough. It has truly become one of my favorites.

More of these books please

I would to read more. This 3rd book could easily lead into an entirely new series now that life is so different for Brinnie.. The ending could have been more complete in my opinion but overall the book was good. Many twists and surprises, unexpected allies and traitorous allies make themselves known.

Castelon is a YA contemporary fantasy tale by author Alyssa Roat. Castelon is installment #3 of The Wraithwood Trilogy.

The reader will recall Mordred’s bane at the beginning of the tale. Get ready for an adventure with Castelon. I would highly recommend reading this series in order because one plays off the other. I do not recommend any of the series as standalone tales.

How could it be that Uncle Merlin isn’t dead? Was he buried alive? Ignatius needs Brinnie to save him, will she? Or, will she deliver the fatal blow?

Quote: “Maybe it was because goodness isn’t weak. It’s strong. It’s brave and risky, and revolutionary. And once given life one spark can spread like wildfire”.

Would the team be able to take down Mordred and get Excalibur? The ending of the tale had me in tears, yet wanting more. However, this is the last installment of The Wraithwood Trilogy. I do hope to see more of Brinnie and Marcus in future tales by this author.

I recommend Castelon to fans of the Arthurian legend. I give Castelon 4*/5*.

An Amazing Adventure

The trilogy was a reading adventure in to the possibilities of magic and what could go wrong. The heroine was at times annoying but overall a likeable, frustrating teenager with magic. She falters, triumphs and falters again as she grows in learning her magical skills, as all teens do as they grew up. She falls in love but is doomed to make mistakes in that as well.

Overall, an interesting read with an unexpected ending.

Wow. After finishing this book I am speechless.

This book finishes the trilogy. In the author’s words “ When the final page is written, the last line complete, you hang in limbo, not quite sure it can truly be ended.”

I loved the 3 books and the ending of this one leaves the reader dreaming “what’s next?”

I reccomend this Trilogy as a keeper in your library. Worth reading again.

Every ending is a new beginning.

Mccrilogy had now ended. It had a very interesting twist. Actually a lot of interesting twist. It was hard to read through it and it wasn't a too fast. Read you had to stop and think about everything that would read. It was truly a really good trilogy. And I liked the ending because the ending was the hope of a new beginning. You will enjoy it.

Ends the series on a thoughtful high note I didn't expect, with some clever themes about making a fantasy story about more than just the pursuit of power.
