With its biblical and practical approach to discipleship, this bestselling topical Bible study will help you develop a closer relationship with God, a keener sense of priorities, and a renewed concern for nonChristian friends.
I really enjoyed reading Growing Strong in God’s Family. It is much more than a Bible study workbook—it is a practical guide that helped me build stronger spiritual habits and become more intentional in my daily walk with God. The lessons are simple, clear, and easy to follow, making this an excellent starting point for anyone who wants to grow in their faith.
What I appreciated most was how interactive the workbook is. Instead of simply reading about Scripture, I was encouraged to engage with God’s Word personally through guided Bible studies. The book teaches important spiritual disciplines such as how to read the Bible with purpose, memorize Scripture, pray consistently, hear God’s voice through His Word, and confidently share my faith with others. Everything is presented in a practical way that can be applied to everyday life.
I also liked that this workbook focuses on long-term spiritual growth rather than quick inspiration. It’s easy to understand why the 2:7 Series has sold over 500,000 copies and continues to be used by The Navigators and many other discipleship organizations. I can also see why it works so well for individual study, small groups, and church-wide discipleship. It truly feels like a solid foundation before moving on to Deepening Your Roots in God’s Family and Bearing Fruit in God’s Family.
Overall, I highly recommend Growing Strong in God’s Family to anyone looking to establish life-giving spiritual habits and strengthen their relationship with God. If you’re searching for a proven discipleship workbook for yourself, your small group, or your church, this is a wonderful place to begin. This is a good first study in a 3-part series. It is meaty, yet easy to follow. It is clear in its instructions, and it has good visuals too. This book is ideal for group use, yet it would be good for individual use as well. After going through this first book, I'm interested in checking out the next ones in the series.
This study from the Navigators has some great information on growing as a disciple of Jesus. Some of the quotes sound like an error taught in some circles, an error that teaches you can have Jesus as Savior and accept Him as Lord at a later time. There are a lot of Arminian influences, also.
This is part one of a three part series that tackles the biggest issues of the Christian life, like assurance of salvation, Bible study, resisting temptation, prayer, witnessing, and fellowship. The other two books, Deepening Your Roots in God's Family, and Bearing Fruit in God's Family, expand on these topics.
Part one is the foundation work and includes five verses for memorization and Bible studies to complete. The program helps to establish regular Bible reading and a daily quiet time.
This is ideal material to use for either one on one discipleship (training) or for a small groups (up to 12 people). The material is clear to understand, but requires commitment of all involved.
Very good bible study...scripture memorization...how to read and study your Bible...witnessing...praying...teaches all the basics and expands on them. I like the challenges and homework..applying verses and this is perfect for a new believers group..would recommend to any church.
Good for a first timer, or someone new to discipleship. A little confusing at times, the way some questions are worded. Learned a lot, but didn't care for the memorization parts....just to lazy!
This was an excellent course. Take it with a good small group! It was part of a radical transformation in my spiritual life that started a year ago and just keeps getting better.
