Experience firsthand Smith Wigglesworth's inspirational and challenging words from the pulpit in this complete volume of his sermons and life teachings. No library can be complete without this classic, timeless treasure.
One of my favorite books of all time! Super stories and scriptural teaching. I keep going back to this book, as well as the collection of John G. Lake sermons, and the Bible.
I've been a Smith Wigglesworth fan for almost 20 years. This book is filled with his sermons (transcribed from recordings).
I've been reading this book off and on for several years. I would read it for a week or two and then put it down for a month or two before picking it back up again.
Sometimes it is a bit of hard read (using terminology from the early 1900's). But overall - this is an EXCELLENT book and truly does teach what GREAT PREACHING should be like!
Many of our modern day preachers could learn a thing or two (or three or four) from following the example of Smith Wigglesworth and his style of preaching and taking a stand of Faith today!
Smith Wigglesworth is called one of the General's of the faith, and after reading the collection of his life teachings, I can see why, as the depth of his teaching, and commitment to the call God placed on his life is evident in every drop of ink in these pages. His words are so engaging you can feel the passion of His spirit as if you where in the assembly of those he was ministering unto in the early 1900's, as he freely flowed in the anointing and unction of the Holy Spirit.
This book is a collection of all Wigglesworth's sermons, which were transcribed into written form.
Some of his sermons are easily comprehended, while some are a jumble, depending on the transcribers and their editing abilities.
I was struck by Wigglesworth's love for the Lord ("Oh, isn't He a lovely Jesus!" was a frequent expression of his) and his passion for bringing souls to Christ, preaching a holy lifestyle, and seeing the Holy Spirit work in healing, deliverance, and miracles.
I was also impressed with how much of his preaching was saturated with phrases from Scripture. Wigglesworth read little outside of the Bible itself, which he read constantly. It seems to have become such a part of him that it flowed from his tongue without having to think twice about it.
Some of his beliefs and actions were strange -- even harsh. For instance, he felt that vaccinations of any kind introduced demons into the vaccinated person's system. He also believed it was wrong to pray for the same ailment more than once. In my opinion, errors such as these, while ignorant, do not negate his overall ministry.
This book is well over 800 pages, which would be daunting to many people. If you want less, Ever Increasing Faith, published by Gospel Publishing House, is a good alternative. Many other shorter books are available which are topical compilations of his works.
Smith Wigglesworth was a man of God in every sense of the word. He believed in the comined power of God the Holy Spirit and the Bible, his written word. For those who are looking for encouragement and insight, I strongly recommend this book. Do note however that Wigglesworth repeats his sermon allegories and I found it repetitive to a point.
So many Bible passages taken out of context. So many questionable theologies wrapped upon one book. However there are a couple as in 2 total sermons which were good one great and some great points on the gospel.
