Nash is beyond Becca’s wildest dreams. Never in a million years would Becca have imagined herself wed to someone like trading company tycoon Nash Abercrombie. Yet on the very day he hires her to be his scullery maid, he asks her to become his wife. Nash is running from a very persistent—and unpleasant—woman who is determined to marry him and run his life. Surely marriage to the sweet and humble Becca would be better than that of the harridan Hazel! Can true love ever blossom from a union like this?

This book is the most far fetched book I believe I have ever read. The premise of a wealthy upperclass man who is being told by some an obviously obnoxious upperclass women that he and she will marry even though he has not asked her and does not want her. He then he decides to marry the new scullery maid (who had just shown up at the back door looking for work) just to thwart her?? Really. This book is so unbelievable it doesn't even deserve one star. Also Her family which were a part of the underclass consisted of father who didn't work and drank all day. Nothing about this book is realistic. I glad this book was gotten from the free bin. I don't like giving reviews like this, but this one was not realistic in any way. Sorry.
This was my first historical romance and I loved it. It made me want to speak in a posh tone and get beautiful silk dresses. The whole thing was fast paced by that’s probably why I liked it so much.
I enjoyed this book. Nash, a master, keeps his faith and bible learning even though he is well off. He is somewhat frugal about his money but treats his servants well. His pushy girlfriend presses for a marriage date which he repeatedly refuses. Becca becomes employed and almost fired in same day in his house. He recognizes her if a poor girl selling matches He helped years before. She took this job too avoid a marriage her father wanted. Becca has a very large family and father feels she must help support them. He proposes quickly, very to my taste. She accepts and begins training to become a proper lady. The girlfriend, Helen, returns to town and still refuses she has been replaced. Becca's father is given a new chance to help his family with the Masters help. I feel more could been said on this as Becca still returned home nightly to care for many younger children and pregnant mother. Her strong faith reminds her to be thankful daily. I feel in real life there would be more sickness, issues with that large poor family with a unemployed Father. I think Nash should of made him work toward the goal of a new start instead of just giving it too him. But his generosity helped the siblings and pregnant mother, as he was taught by his deceased parents. Her kidnapping was a surprise twist for the ending.
