Drop Dead

Rate this book
Ethan Jimenez is a brutal vampire hunter who would like nothing more than for all bloodsuckers to suddenly drop dead. Killing the monsters that go bump in the night is how he keeps the bad dreams at bay and how he copes with the deaths of his parents and sister. But when Ethan meets (and is subsequently bitten by) frazzled newborn vampire, Simon, his life is forced to change overnight.
Now, Ethan is Simon’s “servitor” or human protector, making it impossible for him to hurt his hot mess of a vampire companion. It’s infuriating and Ethan would still love to kill Simon, if only to be free of the powerful hypnosis that makes him desire to be around him as much as possible…
As Ethan takes on the role of reluctant Vampires 101 teacher, the hardest thing isn’t keeping Simon from burning to death in the sun, or helping him adapt to his insatiable hunger, or even dodging other vampire hunters at every turn…
No, the worst part of being bound to Simon is that Ethan actually likes him. Quite a lot. And he thinks Simon might like him, too. Which makes the whole thing a lot more complicated. And bloody.

As a vampire-media lover, Drop Dead has absolutely EVERYTHING I love in a vampire story. A perfect balance between its vampires being scary AND sexy, a delightful vampire x vampire hunter romance, and the exact ratio of action & bloodshed-to-soft moments that I need in a book.

Ethan and Simon are so, so fun to read about—each of them have incredibly distinct voices, and even if I hadn’t noticed a POV shift announced at the start of a chapter, I could still pick up on who was speaking, despite it all being in first person POV. This is something I personally struggle with when writing, so when it’s done well, I notice and LOVE it!!! I also appreciated that, even though Simon is an unusual kind of vampire, it doesn’t seem too “Chosen One-y” for lack of a better term.

Bird’s writing style is lovely, and there were so many lines I highlighted just for the sheer enjoyment of seeing the words in them form the perfect sentence. Examples:

* “We might call ourselves hunters, but really, we’re just the brave mice who lost too many of our friends to the hawk and have decided to take it down before it kills us, too.” (Pg 4)
* “He radiates heat like I’m holding the sun in my arms, and all I can do is latch onto him and drink in the daylight.” (Pg 22)
* “I’m used to being a bully to monsters because sometimes, to kill them, you have to be worse than they are.” (Pg 79)

Don’t let the somewhat slow nature of the beginning put you off—the story picks up pretty quickly after the “introductory” bits, and once we got to the final climax, I was on the edge of my seat, anxious in every sense of the word to see what would end up happening to the boys!!

Also, I can’t finish this review without mentioning Bill—my queen. In this house, we stan Bill. She’s the best <3

The only thing that was not to my personal taste was the pace of Ethan and Simon’s relationship development, but that’s genuinely just because I love my romances to be as slow burn as physically possible. Despite the relationship not being QUITE as slow burn as I was hoping for, I couldn’t be too upset, because they are SO CUTE and SO SWEET together, and they deserve all the good things :)

Sequel now, please and thank you!!!

Drop Dead is drop dead perfect!!! I seriously loved this book!!! It has everything a reader could want; relatable characters, crisp imagery, believable relationships, and high stakes!

Bird has a way of making her characters distinctly human (even if not all of them are), which makes the reader feel like you’ve known them for years and are finally catching up on all the drama! Ethan has a clear voice from the very first page and getting insight on his thoughts as the story progresses makes the begrudging/budding relationship between him and Simon all that more enjoyable. Simon’s thoughts come across as distant, even to himself, when we meet him. Watching him transform into someone participating in his life instead of just drunkenly experiencing it is a joy! Simon and Ethan make sense together and nothing about their relationship feels forced by the author. Their relationship grows naturally from proximity to one another and mutual attraction; they have a lot in common, can work together to overcome obstacles, and they’re hot!!!

Aside from Simon and Ethan, the other characters in the novel are interesting and feel like people you probably know in real life (Bill or Jake for example). The complex relationships within the vampire hunting world contrast and clash beautifully with the newfound relationship of Simon and Ethan.

The story telling itself is full of masterful technique. It’s hard to believe this is Bird’s first published novel. The pacing and development of the plot is great; it allows for little down time but still explores the characters, relationships, and world thoroughly. The climax of this novel had me gripped with anticipation. There were multiple points throughout the book where I had to put it down out or yell at characters out of excitement or anxiety! The ending just left me wanting more!

Again, the imagery of this book is phenomenal and the story played out like a movie in my mind. The writing itself is full of great metaphors and analogies that show off Bird’s own unique style and add to the characters voices rather than take the reader out of the stories.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to see what Danielle Bird has in store next!!!

Disclaimer: I received a review copy for free via BookSirens, but I am voluntarily leaving my honest review. Many thanks to the author for the opportunity!

This was SO sweet. I love a good vampire hunter x vampire story, and the dynamics between Ethan and Simon were so good. I loved how SUPER SOFT Simon was and how he desperately was trying to stay on the right side of the road, trying to stay firm with being humane throughout the whole book. I love how we get to find out about what motivates both of them individually, and how we really got to see how they both help each other overcome their angst too.

Do take care that there is some bigotry here with one of the side characters, but the just desserts to the antagonists here was so well-done. Themes of humanity vs. monsters are something that are often touched upon in books that have vampires, but I really loved the way Danielle dives into it! I really think this was a great debut, and I also love and appreciate the POVs that were present in the book too.

Danielle honestly did an amazing job with all of the dynamics here, from Simon and Ethan to Ethan and Bill and even Simon and Bill. The suspense and action was great too! I honestly hope there's a sequel for this because I'd love to read more about Simon and Ethan and also more characters in this world.

CWs:
- blood & gore
- alcohol abuse
- drug abuse
- suicide ideation
- homomisia
- emesis

DNF @ 20%.

I had my eye on this for a bit, so once it hit KU, I borrowed it immediately. And I’m glad I waited, because I can’t say I liked it.

For starters, it’s a first person dual POV, with two MCs in their earlier 20s. Ethan is supposed to be this highly competent, intimidating vampire hunter, and I wasn’t getting that. He comes off a bit more bumbling than I’d care for.

Now, I‘m generally not the type to read CWs, but I’ve been trying to make a habit to see if the author bothered to include them, especially with recent releases. This one doesn’t have any. And it probably should.

There’s blood & gore. Which isn’t shocking considering vampires. Simon calls himself “an absolute alcoholic”, and there’s plenty of other casual mentions of drug and alcohol abuse. There’s jokes about suicide ideation (ha ha /s), casual homomisia, and emesis.

I did intend to try to make it all the way through the book to attempt to make a more comprehensive list of CWs. But, the writing, the story and the blasé talk about suicide, alcoholism, drug use, rehab just doesn’t interest me.

Awhile back I told friends that I wanted a vampire story where the vampire didn't have generational wealth to fall back on and had to work like, crappy night shift jobs and the universe delivered. Plus some sweet, sweet vampire/vampire hunter action and I was totally in.

Simon is a brand new vampire and is having a truly bad day when he meets Ethan. He takes a little nibble of the vampire hunter he meets and bam, Ethan can no longer harm him because of vampire magic. His hands are tied because Simon isn't acting as unhinged as all the other new vampires but he's still totally one. And he's hot?

I think the relationship between Ethan and Bill was great. Bill is his sort of adopted mother figure who raised him up to be a hunter and does her best (in her own way) to keep him safe.

I'm expecting to find out how and why Jake suddenly has his own group of baby vampire hunters that no one else seemed to know about. I want to see where this story is going desperately.

The only downsides to this book are that it's really long. Looking back, there's not a lot to cut except maybe the first handful of scenes in Simon's apartment. I assume that landlord will come back to be important later because it didn't make sense on why she was in his apartment without permission.

4.5 rounded up to 5 stars.

It was soooo good. Honestly I'm obsessed with vampires so liking this was a given.
The characters felt distinct and alive and they were absolutely lovely. Simon is such a mess (affectionate). The development of their relationship was heartfelt and realistic.
I loved the vampire lore! I wish we'd got more of it, and seen more vampires in general but that's what I'm hoping happens in the sequel.
The story sucks you right in and keeps going at a good pace.
I know, I *know* my bar is low but just mentioning asexuality, even in passing gets a higher rating tbh.
Overall a great read!

Drop Dead is, to quote a meme, a better love story than Twilight. Pop culture nowadays is saturated with paranormal and supernatural love stories, a lot of them centering on vampires and the oft star-crossed nature of their relationships, but Drop Dead is one of the better, fresher takes on the idea. There is no relationship more star-crossed than monster and hunter, and Drop Dead does not disappoint.

The characters are where Drop Dead really shines. In many books the main character function as an audience stand in, a blank slate for the reader to project themselves onto, someone that everyone can relate to. The main characters of Drop Dead are not like that all. They are fully fleshed out, fully realized people in their own right. Ethan is intense and head strong, filled with a desire for vengeance. Meanwhile Simon is timid but snarky, a flighty addict in over his head. These are characters that could so easily be unlikable if made to fulfill another roll, or weren't written with the care they deserve. But in Drop Dead they are endearing and lovely, and you can't help but root for them.

Drop Dead features alternating point of view chapters, which helps the reader to fully understand the story. In some books, the mystery of not knowing the other side of the story is great, but for some like this, when all the characters are so interesting in their own way, with conflicting yet contradictory goals and issues.

The relationship between Ethan and Simon is so well-done and thought provoking. Their relationship has so many obstacles. They're a homosexual, inter-species couple with a supernatural power dynamic that borders on psychic manipulation. The conversations this brings about consent, bodily autonomy, and the self-doubt of ones own decisions and true feelings is fascinating to read.

Received from Book Sirens. Nope, I wasn’t paid for this and yep, full honesty. I despise lies.

This wasn’t the first request I made. But it was the second and one I was impatient for. The blunt title and the non-stereotypical vampire romance blurb drew my interest.

This one was in the form of an epub—which the Kindle app hates— and only opened for me using the Apple Books app, which I hate. It’s laggy and I can’t get along with it, so this one didn’t start off well. In fact, I almost thought about tossing this one back. That’s how much I hate the app. A shame, because I have so many to read on it.

Anyways, Ethan is a vampire hunter with the usual tragic past and a chip on his shoulder. Simon is a sweetheart with a traumatic past and a cinnamon roll. A cinnamon roll with fangs, but still a softy.

From the off, these two were cute together. Grumpy meets sunshine, quickly blossoming into more. The relationship was straight forward, apart from the outside interference.

I don’t know why, as soon as I saw the name Bill, I thought of Kill Bill. Random, but yeah. Bill’s parts came with commentary. One moment I liked her, the next I did not. I’m glad she got there in the end.

Jake needs to die. First impression and one that continued throughout. Another reason I nearly didn’t like Bill. She sent one of Jake’s lot and then broke Ethan’s rules for Jake. There’s worrying and there’s handing your enemy a gun. It’s surprising and slightly disappointing that he remained amongst the living. It made the story feel like a HFN more than a happily ever after, and unless the two of them are paying a visit to Mason, I don’t see this one getting a sequel.

I’m curious about Mason, the closure friendship thing was nice, continuing along the lines of sweetness. Someone Ethan could possibly be jealous of, other than the happy meal. Not gonna lie, Darrell creeped me out with his devotion.

I think the only time Simon annoyed me was thinking he’d go outside and not disturb Ethan. Talk about a flag. Other than that he was aptly named Bambi—and now I’m thinking of a baby dear trying to jump a fence.

It was sweet/angsty vampire/vampire hunter MM goodness with a little darkness, and a nuisance that shouldn’t be allowed a gun.

3.5 ⭐️

So this one started out a little too slow for me. Like the main characters only interacted like one time in the first 65 pages.. but I’m glad I didn’t give up on it. It was enjoyable to be inside Simon’s neurotic thoughts. Also appreciate the Supernatural-y vibe it had going on.

HOWEVER, one of my biggest book peeves is when they choose to have the moment you’ve been waiting the entire book for when there is like imminent danger.. like a literal ticking clock situation. It makes the whole thing feel very rushed, and because of how irritated I was with the timing of this particular moment I couldn’t even really enjoy it. And like that maybe would’ve been more acceptable if he hadn’t ALSO gone and had some ridiculously long, meaningful phone conversation with his ex-boyfriend beforehand?? Like bro, this is NOT the time! Literal death right outside the door!

Anyway.. they’re cute and I like them, but some things definitely could have been done better.

No sparkle vampires here. These are dark, dangerous, and oh so sexy. The characters of Simon and Ethan were so well developed that I forgot I was reading an enimies-to-lovers trope and found myself armchair quarterbacking their relationship's ups and downs. (My husband thought me yelling at my ereader was hillarious.) The world of vampires and vampire hunters is fully developed throughout the story. I had no difficulty understanding the socio-political environment and how the characters fit, or didn't, in society.

This was a fun supernatural m-m story, and I cannot wait to read more by this author.

Another take in vampirism.
Really, really good, even with some editing mistakes.
Very likeable MC's. I wish the story building was longer and detailed and the romance part slower burn (but it's not instant love, thank you very much!)
One of my favorite things is that neither vampires nor vampire hunters are described as heroes.
Hopefully there will be more books and we can learn more about this kind of vampires together with Ethan and Simon.

Wow what a surprising read!! When I started this book I did not expect it to be SO GOOD!! It’s one of my 2023 faves for sure!!

It’s such a good mix of plot & character development/bonding and then when it’s SEXY TIME it’s so hottt 😩🥵🥵

Vampire x vampire hunter <3
It’s been a LONG TIME since I read such a good forbidden romance / enemies to lovers with a vampxhunter! I just love the development of their relationship and the struggles, the bitter sweet moments and the character development of our hunterrr 🫶🏼😭 And our vamp he’s adorbs and funny but also “real” with issues and insecurities - this was different from other vamp x hunter romances I’ve read before and I loved it!

I also thought the multiple POVs were an interesting choice! Not just dual, but also including Bill in there made it interesting to read! Even more thoughts and layers hehe!

The one thing I didn’t like? The ending and the last few pages lol! You can definitely notice that this is going to be a series cause there are some loose ends and while it’s not exactly an open ending it’s also not a HEA! And I want that HEA 😭😂🫶🏼

Defo recommend picking this one up!

Just so we're clear, I've mentally cast Harvey Guillén of What We Do in the Shadows fame as Ethan. This has only added to my enjoyment of this book.

I like Simon and Ethan a lot, both as individual characters and as a couple. Their personalities and backstories are well-matched. I feel for both of them and love their dynamic - particularly how they can be sombre and tender, but also teasing and silly. They make each other laugh! Such an underrated way of showing compatibility.

Usually, I prefer my romance slow-burn. If the characters are getting together in the space of one book, over a timespan of just about a month, I would normally think that's too fast. But that isn't the case here. I think it's because instead of having them flirt with and be attracted to each other to start with - which, as a (biro) ace, I often feel alienated by - the author really shows how they were drawn together under unique circumstances, and come to genuinely care about and want to support each other. So the romance feels earned.

Also, I haven't gotten to read as many queer vampire stories as I would like, and this one does not disappoint. It's cool how it engages with and subverts the power imbalance that underlies a lot of heteronormative vampiric romance tropes.

Towards the end, when the story becomes mainly about them evading hunters, I do feel it gets a bit repetitive. I can see why it's structured that way, and some emotional moments are wrung out of it as a result, but I want more shenanigans and variation. Those are mainly concentrated in the first half. But this is a minor quibble.

Special mention to Bill, who is the best <3

All in all, I was really charmed by this book! The writing style is great, the pacing and plot development are solid, and the characters are compelling. If I get the chance to read the rest of the series, I would love to see more lore about vampires, particularly Simon. There's a lot of potential there.

Wow, Drop Dead really surprised me. Ethan is a vampire hunter and has hated all vampires since the death his entire family. But when he is accidentally bitten by a freshly turned vampire Simon, he becomes Simon’s servitor (a human bound to a vampire and has to do its bidding). Forced together, Simon is inept and unnatural in his new vampirism while also being disarmingly likable far more human than Ethan has ever expected (much to his dismay). Ethan is forced to examine his prejudices and life choices just as fellow vampire hunters start circling around Simon.

This book had far more depth and complexity than I was expecting from a vampire romance. Ethan’s history and childhood trauma of discovering his murdered family and the resultant hate against vampires is understandable. His relationship with his foster mother who taught him to hunt vampires was also sweet and is endearingly demonstrated in the story. Simon was just a sweetheart of a human with low self esteem (and substance) issues. He was an innocent victim, unexpectedly turned. I do love a downtrodden character that’s given an opportunity to rise up.

Ethan and Simon’s relationship is definitely a slowburn, especially complicated by the vampire bite as they both aren’t sure if the feelings are real. Their resistance to the pull of romance was what made this feel real and earned, and I am happy with how it developed. The rest of the story was compelling—with enough action and suspense to keep you as invested in it as with the romance.

Drop Dead is a queer vampire x vampire romance with depth.

Thank you Booksirens and the author of this book for the ARC. This review includes my freely given opinion.

The premise or this book is what really drew me in along with the tropes. A good enemies to lovers story is my favorite and this is inherently that. Simon is sweet and broken and new to his reality. Ethan is gruff also broken and has been hunting vamps for years.

The powers that Simon had were a very interesting take on some of the classic vampire abilities. Hypnosis being the main one. The Setvitor bite was really interesting to read about and I really enjoyed the conflict it presented.

The side characters are interesting as well. Bill is the mother figure but also is a bad ass vampire hunter and that shows in the way she brought up Ethan. Jake is the typical homophobic jerk and the author does a great job of making you hate him.

The story itself for me started out very slowly and took a while to really hook me in but when it did it really did and I had a hard time putting this book down.

I really enjoyed this book. As someone who is a sucker (ha) for anything supernatural I knew that this vampire story was right up my alley.

I will say that the romance did happen pretty quickly, this book was predictable, and occasionally the pacing was a little bit slow for me.

I really liked the characters. They all had distinct personalities and backstories which fleshed them out more than I was expecting. I was especially happy to read about a plus sized main character who is not hyper focused on food, no one looks down on him for his weight, and he’s attractive and wanted. In addition he’s the one doing the cool fighter moves.

I did not realize going into it but there are a lot of loose ends and I expect that this will become a series.

This is a surprisingly sweet novel, I would recommend it.

Firstly I'll be honest and say I wasn't sure I would actually like this book. But it sounded interesting enough to request it.
And boy am I glad I did.

This book follows a vampire hunter named Ethan. His family were killed by a vampire and he has spent most of his life hunting vampires down. Until he gets bitten by sweet Simon and his life and beliefs are changed.

Simon is a dork. And I love him. He is a terrible vampire.

I really liked seeing hunters like Ethan and Bill struggle with what they believed and how different Simon is. How close minded they were about vampires.

This story surprised me. And I highly recommend it.

This has been such a delight!

When I was younger, I used to devour vampire books… they lost their appeal after a while, though, so my recent tendencies went towards more a more general paranormal genre. I did not know what to expect with this book. I was, however, delighted!

The characters were so well formed and complex- I mean really, it's so much more realistic than other thropes of being-made-into-a-vampire-against-will! I could almost see myself reacting in a similar manner.. the inner (and outer!) struggles were written in a thoughtful manner and the whole universe was a breath (ha! pun intended!) of fresh air.

I recommend for anyone searching for a little paranormal brought into the real world.

This was a really good, riveting vampire/hunter romance! And it’s an underrated indie series, so definitely go give it the love and attention it deserves! The couple was great, the buildup was engaging, and the tension was tantalizing. The ending was satisfying, while still pulling me into the sequel for the next part of their saga.

Definitely a good Enemy to Lovers type of book. I also love my male/male romances. I liked the slow burn and liked the characters having to learn if they truly have feelings for one another or if its due to another reason. There is growth and understanding for the two main characters. Also always love having a strong female mentor! I hope to learn whats next for our main characters in the next book!

I absolutely love this book! It seems like it doesn't get the attention and praise it deserves.
I can't say anything negative about it.

I'm a big fan of vampires, but I don't like fantasy or books involving other supernatural creatures too much. Therefore I've especially enjoyed 'Drop Dead', it just fits my taste in vampire books perfectly.

I really hope that Danielle Bird is going to release more books, as this one is so good!🦇❤️

To say that Ethan and Simon’s relationship was complicated is a bit of an understatement. A vampire hunter having to teach a vampire… how to be a vampire, talk about an unexpected turn of events. I enjoyed watching them slowly get closer, the slow burn made their growing connection feel more real. A really great series starter.

I love this book. I devoured it in literally 7 or 8 days, which is wild, because with school and everything, it usually takes me at least three weeks to finish one book. But this one? I devoured it. You have to fucking read it. It’s so fucking good. To a point I'll be waiting to return home from school to continue reading.

And when I say that, I don’t mean it’s perfect because nothing bad happens, no, shit happens. A lot of shit happens. But it’s done in such a way that everything makes sense. Like, nothing feels random or thrown in just for the drama. It all connects. It’s wild, it’s emotional, it’s intense, and yet, it works. You will not get bored. I didn’t get bored once. Every time I thought I’d take a break, something else happened that made me go, “Oh my god, I need to keep reading.” or need to put my kobo down and scream.

The characters are written so well. They feel like real people. I love how they actually think for themselves. They make mistakes, sure, but they realize it. Sometimes they even call themselves out, or another character will, before I can even form a critique in my head. It’s like the author already thought about it. Nobody in this book is stupid for the sake of being stupid. They have flaws, but those flaws make sense, and they grow from them. That’s what makes them feel alive.

You get to see how things came to be, and it’s all written so naturally. The relationships, too, oh my god, i loveee. There’s platonic love, romantic love, heartbreak, guilt, anger, everything. It’s layered, emotional, and just beautifully done. Every connection feels real and earned.

The writing itself is flawless. When the POV changes, you don’t even need to be told whose it is, you just know by the voice. Every character has such distinct personality and tone. The pacing, the setting, the atmosphere, all of it just fits perfectly.

I wanted a vampire book. I wanted it to be gay. And I got a vampire book, gayness, emotional depth, and excellent execution of writing. Seriously, there were ALOT of lines that got me giggling and highlighting.

It actually reminded me how reading can be so fun. I read this on my Kobo, and it brought me back to that feeling I had when I first fell in love with reading.

It’s hot, it’s emotional, it’s creative, addictive as hell. I love Simon, I love Ethan, I love Bill, honestly, I even love Jake (okay, I hate him, but you need that one character).

To the author, thank you. Seriously. You’re so creative, and you have such a gift for writing. Thank you for this book. I love it. I love it.10 out of 10 stars.

I received this book for free. This does not impact my review in any shape or form.

Drop Dead, by Danielle Bird, is a paranormal romance that asks the difference between love and obedience. Ethan Jimenez is a hunter driven by revenge after a vampire killed his family when he was young. Although talented, he slips up and becomes a servitor for a newly turned vampire who has no clue what’s going on. Despite the confusion, Ethan must find a way to brave the situation without compromising his dignity or humanity. Simon is a newborn vampire who struggles to understand his place in the world. After accidentally turning a vampire hunter into his “minion”, Simon must come to grips with what it means to be human, even if it means confronting past mistakes.

I love that though Ethan and Simon care for one another, they aren’t defined by the romance. They don’t let it rule over their lives and instead try to find ways to better themselves and each other. I treasure how close Ethan and Bill are and how protective they are of one another. Ethan is constantly worried about Bill's well-being, and even though a lot of his interactions with other hunters aren’t that favorable, he is still a valued member of their community. Despite hunters usually working by themselves, he isn't isolated. It’s the same with Simon; I love how he took his relationship with Mason and turned it into a learning lesson. There’s clearly love there, but Simon knows it's different with Ethan. He doesn’t make it into this convoluted love triangle, nor does he trip over himself trying to get back with Mason. He doesn’t guilt himself with his dying morality either. Even when he’s a vampire, you get a sense that he’s still going through life, still learning, still open to new opportunities.

Moreover, I like how we get a progression of Simon’s and Ethan’s character development. I’m sure I’ve said this before, but I’ll say this again; addiction is an isolating disease. Simon had gone from being alone and sentenced to die to someone who has a loving partner and (hopefully) a wonderfully strict mother. True, there are romantic elements to their relationship, but for them to be together, they first had to get out of their own ways. Ethan’s internal struggle with Simon’s vampirism was definitely enjoyable to read, and Simon’s anxiety was adorable, however bad that sounds.

As such, I would give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

I'm finna be honest. I stopped reading the blurb once I saw the word vampire. I love vampire romance and the fact that this was MM just made me want it read it even more.

I went into this thinking it was going to be a fast, spicy, enemies to lovers romance.

Ya'll... this is a highly emotional, beautiful, adventurous, slow burn. Both our MC's have back stories that will tug at your heart strings.

Ethan our vampire hunter was a grump. But an adorable one like the old man from Up. He fought his pull to Simon so much in the beginning. I referred to him as a reluctant Renfield because he was NOT happy about his position but still did what needed to be done to keep Simon safe and fed.

Simon was an absolute sweetheart. I love him so much. He reminded me of the Iron Giant. You know how everyone is scared of him and at the end all he wants to do is protect and love.

I adored this couple so much. HOWEVER, the spice level was very, very, low. I would rate it a 0.5. With that said, the storyline was solid, there was action, I loved the interactions between our two guys so while I personally would have liked MORE spice, I don't feel like the little bit we had was a turn off. Instead of hot and steamy pegging, we got electrified touches and fucking fade to black coupling.

It was still good though! Just wanted to keep it real for my smut lovers. This is not the one if you're on edge and need one handed material. But if you want a beautiful story then add this one to your TBR.
