Bluebird Winter by Linda Howard is a continuation of a series of stories. In this, Derek has achieved his goal of becoming a doctor. He falls instantly in love with Kathleen as he helps her deliver her daughter, Sara Marisa. Little Risa wins his heart and he works to make them a family as he teaches them both about love.

The Gift of Joy by Joan Hohl sees city girl Emma out in the country falling for Mason. Mace wants to buy the land Emma had inherited and start a horse breeding ranch, but he hadn't counted on falling for Emma.

A Christmas Treasure by Sandra Steffen has a young brother and sister hoping they get the Christmas wish of a new father. Their mom, Rosanna, has had enough of love, but then Cole rents the attic apartment in her inn and she finds that she can still love.

A very nice stories for the holidays.

I read Bluebird Winter years and years ago, when it was a hit. Unfortunately, if you read it today, and apply today's values and expectations, there's not enough chemistry between the two and it just somehow falls flat. BUT, I remember loving the story when I first read it and actually have a paperback copy of the story on its own. I've been a Linda Howard fan from the time I read her first book, which if I remember the "good old days" lol, was probably a Harlequin. I've had a love affair with her writing for years. While a couple of books failed to hit the mark fully, this one hit it for what it is and when it was written. Don't sell Derek short on this one, but in order to get the full power, you need to read the series.

I feel like Derek got cheated out of a full length novel. Though I can't say I disliked Kathleen, I didn't feel the connection to either character I expected to. This definitely isn't a favorite.

of the 3 stories I only read Bluebird Winter by Linda Howard. It was sweet, short & predictable. A very quick, easy read. Nothing special about this one
