Tired and frustrated with the treadmill of life that is going faster and faster? This book can help you. How do you sort through the thousand demands upon your time, all clamoring for attention at once? So you prioritize and reprioritize; make snappier do-lists; get yanked this way and that-totally off balance; and end up feeling frustrated, guilty, and tired? Does life seem to be out of control? Smart Women Keep It Simple shows how today's woman can get balance in her life Accepting realistic limitations. Cultivating realistic expectations. Establishing realistic goals. Annie Chapman believes the key is a simple devotion to Jesus Christ where a woman's ultimate commitment is to please Christ. Freedom begins when the unending demands and expectations of other people are evaluated in light of one's devotion to Christ. In her down-to-earth style, Annie Chapman shows how this truth can be lived out in daily life. Women will be helped to evaluate their marriages, mothering, and missions; eliminate attitudes that hinder devotion to Christ from flourishing; and establish life pattern that lead to growth in that devotion.
Annie Chapman is a gifted musician and the author of several books, including Letting Go of Anger, The Mother-in-Law Dance, and Hot Topics for Couples (with her husband, Steve). Sharing the concert stage with Steve, writing books and articles, speaking at conferences, and ministering through radio and TV give Annie many opportunities to reach a wide audience for Christ. She is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute.
I found this book in a box my mom was going to donate to Goodwill. Funny, as a daughter, to read a book from when my mom was in a similar stage of life and trying to keep it all in balance. Looks like a lot of struggles haven't changed---this was as relevant as if it had been printed in 2011. Annie Chapman gives great Biblical perspective, and she helped me see the bigger picture when it comes to being a woman, wife, and mother. She's also very practical. I highly recommend this book.
I'm pretty sure I'd read this book once before, but it was worth a second read. Now that I'm older (and wiser, I hope) most of the book came as a "yeah, I already know that." It was however a good refresher on living life as a busy wife and mother. A quick and enjoyable read!
