f you were to know for sure the back-to-life story of Jesus Christ, your life might be profoundly and eternally changed. Sincerely Seen is a book of reflections on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The study of what “might” have been the behind-the-scenes of these Gospel stories draws the reader’s attention to the reality of lives transformed by the fact of the empty tomb and the personal encounters with the risen Christ. There is evidence of the truth of Jesus’ resurrection and there are many personal connections made through the reader’s own life-experiences, questions, and thoughts. Sincerely Seen invites us into the perspectives of the writers of the Gospels, connecting us to their stories of those who were at the empty tomb and inspiring us with their compelling urgency to proclaim this good Jesus was alive. In these stories you will find space to reflect on the character of Christ, an opportunity to imagine the detailed moments of the resurrection, and one deep question to What will it take for you to expect Jesus Christ around the next corner of your life?
I am most certainly biased. Kathy Mason is a professor at my school and I’ve had her for several classes.
However. I have tried devotional books before, and this is one of the rare ones I’ve actually finished.
This is a wonderful devotional centered on the disciples’ encounters of the risen Christ. The title is a theme throughout the book- how Jesus sees each person sincerely.
Throughout the devotional, Kathy shares her experiences with Jesus, who sincerely sees her. She urges the reader to expect Jesus around every corner, a concept that was so refreshing and encouraging to me!
This book helped me to examine my relationship with Jesus and see Him personally- to see Him as a friend. Kathy pointed out many details of the resurrection story I have never noticed before.
Overall, this devotional was thought-provoking and incredibly SINCERE. Kathy’s voice shines through the pages with her sense of humor and amazing stories.
She connects with the reader by relating to doubts, grief, and fears we all have faced as followers of Christ. And even still, she encourages us to push on and realize that even through it all, we are each sincerely seen by Jesus.
