Kathryn Jackson wrote hundreds of lively, witty stories for Golden Books, most of which were coauthored with her husband, Byron. The Saggy Baggy Elephant is one of the pair’s most famous titles. Golden Books that Kathryn Jackson wrote on her own include Tawny Scrawny Lion, Nurse Nancy, Pantaloon, Richard Scarry’s The Animals’ Merry Christmas, and Richard Scarry’s A Story a Day: 365 Stories and Rhymes.
I love this little treasury. It contains nine Little Golden books in one lovely volume with ALL the pictures. And the pictures are the right size, not all shrunken down and microscopic. Basically it looks just like the books you read as a child, only it's really fat because there are several together.
My boys have all enjoyed these (even the bigger ones read them on their own).
This collection contains the following stories:
The Saggy Baggy Elephant The Kitten Who Thought He Was a Mouse How the Leopard Got Its Spots Mister Dog Animal Friends The Big Brown Bear Home for a Bunny How the Camel Got Its Hump Tawny Scrawny Lion
A very affordable way to collect the Golden books.
Awesome book! This collection has 9 stories and my favorite is "Tawny Scrawny Lion"! I like to read this before I go to bed and I've been doing it the whole time I've been in Ireland!
My son loved the pictures and there are many different animals throughout the book. The story lines weren’t always the greatest, but the pictures seemed to captivate him and he paid attention well considering his age of 2. Some pages depict older times where someone smoking a pipe in a children’s book is acceptable.
Well put together collection of nine beautiful tales with an animal theme. If you know children this is a great collection to have readily available for sharing with young minds and to delight all ages.
A fantastic gift for a baby shower! This is a precious collection of Golden Book classics like Mister Dog and Baby Animals. It's an excellent book for bedtime - so many gorgeous illustrations and stories parents won't mind reading repeatedly.
