Growing up in the foster care system, Nakia snatched up her baby brother as soon as she turned 18 years old and jetted away from her foster home, taking care of him on her own. Fast forward years later, Nakia is a beautiful, hard working, single mom of a 10 year old son and 7 year old daughter with her brother still by her side. After tragically losing her children's father, love hasn't been on her radar until a setup by her best friend caused her to change her mind.
Working as a front desk associate at the Courtyard Marriott, her only focus is to make a living for herself and her children, bringing as much joy and laughter into their lives as possible. Although a lot of unsavory things go down at the hotel, Nakia minds her own business until a suspecting guest starts exhibiting suspicious behavior, causing concern for the company that he keeps. When Nakia and her co-workers witness a potentially volatile situation, they alert the proper authorities, unknowingly putting their lives at risk and their jobs in jeopardy.
With her life heading in a new and positive direction, Nakia is unaware of the imminent danger that's lurking in the shadows, especially one that's living right under her nose. Placed in an unwanted dilemma, check out how Nakia gets caught up unintentionally in becoming an unofficial state witness in this thrilling, action-filled drama.
I give this book the total of 5 stars🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾‼️‼️‼️‼️ When I say this book had me IMPRESSED. I was IMPRESSED 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I loved how the book immediately started off with a cool atmosphere. I loved how we immediately got close to Nikki, Tionna, and Nakia. Out of all the characters, I felt for Nikki and Tionna the most.😫😫😫 I feel like Russell did Tionna wrong and poor Nikki she was really just a kid who got tricked into playing grown woman games. Hannah was a pain in the ass😒😒😒. Nakia definitely had a interesting life.👀👀👀👀 I won’t spoil the rest for everyone. But will say this book definitely was a great paced novel and I felt like it could’ve been one great 2 hour movie.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Also I loved how this book touched on the trauma of sex trafficking. Overall, the states witness is a great new collection to urban fiction that will have the plot twist u didn’t see coming.👀🤯‼️
It’s a good book and it has a great storyline. I love urban fiction so I was super excited when I found the Urban Ain’t Dead page on fb! I have learned about so many book titles that I plan to read and add to my library this year. I wish Kindle would increase the amount of books we are able to borrow! This book is worth the read! It’s different, doesn’t have any over exaggerated sex scenes, and the typical hood/drug dealer boyfriend with a goody two shoes girlfriend! The writer did great besides a few grammatical errors but I only noticed them because I am a huge grammar freak. Definitely gonna recommend this to my friends! I can’t wait for the second part!!
Omg no I hope Raphael hurry home and get his girl before niko succeed at what he's trying to do to her I wish she would've told him what was going on so he could've handled it before time for her now she done got herself into some mess hopefully her and Bailey can make it out the mess cause Russell is coming for them hard he not playing he disgust me I can't stand him he needs to go to jail for good
The suspense is killing me. What’s gonna happen to Nakia? Will Raphael get to Nakia in time? What will his reaction be when he finds out what’s going on with her, and what will be her reaction when she finds out what Raphael is into. That Russell needs to spend the rest of his life in prison not dead. Death is to good for him. This is my first time reading from this author. Great thriller. Now hurry up with pt. 2!
I cannot stand Russell praying on young girls because he can control them is disgusting! My heart broke for Tiana and I hope she somehow makes it out. Nakia should have listened to her brother and not got involved. When all these secrets come out I hope the right people are left standing in the end. This book was a definite page turner all the way to the end.
The title of this book definitely describes the story within. One phone call has changed the lives of the clerks at their job. Witnessing the selling of young girls and reporting it has put lives in jeopardy. Keeping secrets from each other is only making things worse. The cliffhanger really left me wanting more.
I need part two like today. This book was an eye opener there are millions of men in this world like Niko preying on young girls. I pray he gets what he deserves. Nakia did the right thing I just hope everything works out for her. If you haven’t read this book you should cause it doesn’t disappoint
This was a good read, held my attention, just a lot of grammatical errors! I just hope Nakia and Bailey don't end up like Shamia! Poor Nikki and all the girls this demon has used and discarded! Russell is a devil and I hope he gets what he deserves, prison! I hate Raphael is involved! Can't wait to see how this ends! Please get an editor for your work!
This was a difficult subject to read about, especially considering the victims. It's a sad but gripping story that shows the horrors of a certain lifestyle. When the authorities come to take down an illegal enterprise, lives are at risk. Though hard to read, this story has you wanting to know if enough witnesses will live to help the evil culprits face justice.
Ain’t no way this book ended like this!!! From beginning to end this book had me on the edge of my seat!! This was most definitely a page turner for sure! This was my first read by this author and it will not be my last! I can’t wait for the next part!
This attention griping storyline with wonderful character development is a five star read. I enjoyed and recommend this five star read. Can’t wait for part 2, and look forward to reading more from this author.
Okay I’m so want part 2 now! This was intense and surreal. Good writing a page turner Russell need to see karma and Tianna is it please and thank you. #butleronbooks #penpassionpromotion
I love the book. It grabbed my attention right away. I just wanna know why the author leave us on a cliffhanger like that😨😨 I need therapy now. Definitely check this book out #butleronbooks
I enjoyed reading this series because it probably the most semi realistic prostitution story I’ve ever read. I enjoyed the cat and mouse game towards the end the most. I do feel that some of the povs were not needed but it was still a good story
