When my son was a little over a year old, my mother bought him this book for Christmas. This book is about making the right exercise and dietary choices. I thought the book might have been a bit advanced for my son at the time, but shortly after he received the book, my son climbed up his bookcase and took a bite out of the back cover of the book. Um, I guess he understood the context after all.
Now my son is five, and he adores Little Critter. We even have a toy Little Critter in our house, who apparently misbehaves at exactly the same time my son does. As a five-year-old, my son understands that playing outside in the backyard is even a better choice than climbing the bookcase, and that an apple for a snack is a much better choice than a paperback cover.
All in all, this Little Critter book is yet another winner.
It's strange how some creatures have names based on what they are like 'Tiger', but others have regular names like 'Malcolm'. The emphasis on healthy choices was good, but I don't enjoy the out-of-shape-unhealthy-dad trope. My favorite background characters are the spider and the birds.
This book teaches the importance of eating healthy and exercising. I appreciate how the book gives examples of choices a child can make. Little Critter always makes the better choice in this book.
The book has a great message about keeping a healthy fun lifestyle. I think it is great for young children, I would read this book to my class if I had an early childhood classroom.
Could be included in a health lesson. If a student takes healthy habits home with them, it is more likely to have a positive impact on their family's healthy habits as well.
This book is about teaching students how to eat and stay healthy. The children have a nutrition lesson and exercise in gym. Then the Litte Critter goes home and cooks his family a nutritious meal and the family goes for a bike ride. Litter Critter continues his healthy habits by playing football with his friends and making other healthy choices. In the end, the little critters all participate in running a race.
I thought this book was okay. It did was not has creative as alot of other children's books, but it gets the point across.
This would be a good book for teaching nutrition and making healthy choices.
I think this is a great story as it explains how it is important to eat healthy foods and exercise. I think this is a great story, especially now, because kids are so interested in playing video games and using screens, I think it is important to remind children how important it is to be active, and this book does just that!
