DAVE -- THE MAN WHO POSSESSED HER SOUL.... — When he'd first kissed Gwen, she'd responded like a fairy princess awakened from a spell, but she usually treated her brother-in-law like a kid, never daring to admit how much she wanted him. When they were both called to mediate a nasty family fight at a mountain cottage, Dave decided it was time to raise the stakes -- to flirt, tease, and tantalize Gwen until she pleaded for his touch!
HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO
Provoked by his humor, excited by his intensity, Gwen surrendered her inhibitions and revealed her secrets when Dave commanded her, wooed her, and taught her a yearning only he could quench -- but how could this much younger man want to share her future? Once he'd claimed her with thrilling hunger, Dave vowed he'd love her forever, one day at a time -- but was she brave enough to insist on a stronger bond?
My rating for enjoyment is 2.5 stars. Maybe im just used to Harlequin presents romance style but sadly despite my initial excitement in the first few pages i felt impatient , disconnected and unbelieving of the H/h pairing, chemistry and HEA. Below are my likes, dislikes and final thoughts. thoughts.
LIKES:
1. initial plot of older woman/ younger man pairing and that forbidden/taboo aspect of all in the family
2. There's an epilogue (its nice to see what happens after HEA just too bad im lukewarm with this couple)
DISLIKE:
1. Not as angsty as i thought. The story was written almost like a comedy even though the non comedic aspects are there (effects of divorce on kids, going though divorce, the taboo aspect) They did give a reasoning as to why the H & h were the way they were but I felt their personalities were jarring.
2. The h started to get annoying / grating to me like Jesus, Mary and Joseph just get it on already!! You ain't no innocent daisy! Honestly i was a tad confused why the H was REALLY into her coz i didn't really see it. Yeah yeah yeah, that magical hot kiss and all for years ago but still FOUR YEARS??? REALLY??? Meh... I can see the attraction (I guess) between the two of them but I don't see TRUE LOVE FOREVER AND EVER between them though
3. i need to be attracted to my H heehee unfortunately he seemed kinda juvenile and not the rough manly, controlling, assertive, I man you woman types that I like (hahaha) I guess i kinda dont like happy go lucky Hs or this particular one. Supposedly he was physically described as hot so there's that... But still not enough for me to vote for him.
4. I don't know there was too much dialogue... i mean i guess that mean they really bonded and spent time together but the dialog in the story just seemed forced , artificial- basically i didn't connect the H/h. Honestly H/h seem better off as good friends, or heck f-buddies (oooh I want to slap myself for that word, I sound dirty 0_0)
5. I don't believe the HEA - the H wanting to marry the h feels forced - i dont think he really wanted to and honestly, they should have the HEA as them being together and taking a step forward by just promising to be serious about their relationships. Yes it was nice to see an epilogue of them married (along with the other couple but I don't really care) but I STILL didn't believe their HEA. Also the love scenes and consummations didn't make me fan myself lol oh and jm not a fan of the other bickering couple either. Now i know what added to my dislike it , too much yapping and bickering back and forth
In conclusion i think you get the picture. This book or maybe Loveswept romance style isn't my cup of tea. Also "condom" is jarring to me just sounds so unromantic reading it spelt out in a romance 0_0 and as mentions of rolling it on (holy moly can we pls rephrase that and make it more swoonworthy lol) i feel bad giving it 2.5 stars because it was written slightly entertaining with a few spelling errors but in regards to my own romance , happy sweet feelings as i read and finish reading well... im gonna need to read another book maybe even an oldie but a goodie so i can get that lovin feelin again!
