Joyful, inspiring, and full of hope--A Treasury of Christmas Miracles is a compilation of about fourteen true stories where people were blessed with a miracle, many connected to Christmastime.

“Unfortunately we live with a sense of urgency for all the wrong reasons. Perhaps our time would be better spent looking for the miracles that so clearly exist around us. Especially during the Christmas season.”

The stories are said to be true, but they’ve been fictionalized to protect the privacy of the people they belong to. Each one shows how God is ever-present in our lives. Some of the stories involve healing, lost items, and lives saved. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I did enjoy the stories on healing the most. One story about a 37-year-old man with appendicitis was very compelling.

When reading this book I guess you just have to ask yourself: are you a person who believes in miracles? I, for one, am. It’s my belief that there are miracles happening around us all the time, even when we don’t see them. I’ve had unexplainable things happen to me in my own life–things that in no way could just be luck or coincidence. We all have our own beliefs, but whether or not you’re a believer in God, anyone can enjoy this book; although, there is mention of God throughout and the people in the stories are also believers. Readers may question the spiritual credibility of the stories as some are more compelling than others.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read. My only complaint is that it wasn’t as Christmassy as I expected. The book is relatively short at about 170 pages and a quick read. If you like inspirational stories about miracles, give this book a try.

I thought the cover of this book was beautiful! My favorite story was Heavenly Hindrances. I’ve always enjoyed Karen Kingsbury’s writing although it’s been a few years. This book ticked all the boxes for me as a great December/Christmas book. It warmed my heart. I do believe in miracles!

A collection of true-life stories. The format reminded me of the magazine -Guidepost.

My favorite story was the one about the little girl who was deaf and the deaf kitten she got for Christmas.

A book of short stories that reminds us of our loving Heavenly Father who still takes care of us, sometimes by way of miracles that could only be from His hand.

This is such a great book to read any time of the year, especially at Christmas.

The true stories in “A Treasury of Christmas Miracles" are wonderfully told and bring awareness to some of the amazing recent miracles God has performed. This book really touched my heart and soul and brought tears to my eyes several times. It shows that God is always looking out for us, keeping us safe from so many things, many of which we may never know. This is definitely a book I'll want to revisit time and time again!

I just found Karen Kingsbury. This was an incredible read. It reminded me of Guideposts magazine, one of my favorites.

I love the Reading Group Guide at the end of the book. The first question for this book is: "Do you believe in miracles? Why or why not?"

My answer is a resounding yes. I have seen God's miracles in my life & in others. This is a book for both men & women. I think it's great that these experiences are shared.

Read this in 2018 with only comment, “Beautiful.”

Now in 2022: I tend to believe that daily life is filled with miracles, “God-things,” some seen and others unseen. These stories are inspiring and especially unique in that they were experienced around the season of Christmas. My favorite was “A Gift for Noel.”

Oh, that we would increasingly live in the awareness of Emmanuel, God with us.

Personal response:
I could not imagine the situation this couple was in with being several states apart for their first Christmas together as a married couple. The couple had no idea that there was a surprise coming their way but there was. I thought it meant a lot that a stranger took his plane and went many miles for someone in his town without even asking for money to pay for gas. I think this showed that there was still others in the world that care about each other. I liked how generous this stranger was. I thought is was amazing that when they were caught in a deadly fog that some they thought was air control helped them out. Later, they found out it wasn't and no one knew who it was. This is pretty amazing thing to grasp.

Plot:
First, this couple got married. Then, right before their first Christmas, she received a call that her mom who wa several states away was dying of cancer. The couple scraped together enough money to get her a one-way ticket to see her mom. He had desperately asked the church to pray for him, so he could have gone to see his wife. Later, someone called and told him that he could take him with his plane. When they left, it was a sunny beautiful day. When they were about halfway there, they hit fog so thick they couldn't see. The equipment in the plane went out. Somehow they managed to land. They finally got back up in the air, but when they got near the airport they hit another patch of fog. This time the airport said they couldn’t help them. Suddenly, someone came on the radio and guided them down, but no one knew who it was.

Recommendation:
I would recommend this to people who are interested in their faith, because this could make them realize that God does care. I would recommend this to middle school and above because this topic is a hard topic to grasp for young immature minds. I would recommend this to both genders, because it has no gender-based content.

I loved these stories! My favorite was “Jessica’s Gift.” I also liked “Heavenly Hindrances” although I think I’ve read in a Guideposts’ publication before.

Miracles take place regularly, and always have. The miracles recounted in this book took place during the Christmas season.
For Christians, Christmas holds a significance like no other. This is barring Easter, the celebration of the resurrection of Christ, on which Believers base their faith. But if there had not been an incarnate Christ, very God and very man, the miraculous resurrection and all that entails theologically, would not have occurred. The birth of the Christ (anointed One), was surrounded by miracles: appearances of angels, words of knowledge, discernment, signs in the heavens, and other.
Though we do not necessarily see Christmas celebrated in Scripture, we do know that people celebrated the birth of their Savior, shepherds, wise men, Simeon and Anna in the temple. By the 300's the official Church declared a celebration.
Yes, we can find pagan festivals celebrated at the same time throughout history. It can be said that the sacred and profane have always coexisted, though. We Can find the devil under every rock, or God under every rock. Suffice to say Christians set aside the Christmas season to reflect on the coming of the Christ and the anticipation of what is yet to take place, his appearance again. It would be beneficial for all Christians to refocus their thoughts to Christ during Christmas season.
Gift giving is an expression of love and even Santa is based upon a generous person named Nicholas, from long ago.
There is much other that I could go on about but I have digressed. The compilation of stories in this book are true accounts of the miraculous, which occurred during the wonderful Christmas season. Some are profound, others sweet, all are miracles, by the hand of the very God, very man, Christ, the Word made flesh (John 1).
This is a break from the usual Christmas romances and mystery novels. It is also not a theological examination of the birth of Christ. It is simply about divine miracles granted to common people at Christmas.

⭐⭐⭐1/2
These stories were super short, so I enjoyed reading them throughout the holiday season. Some of them were better than others, and I doubt the validity of a couple, but God can do anything, so I'm not saying that it didn't happen, I was just a little skeptical. The last one was probably my favorite, because it just really touched me. This is a very sweet little collection, and I am so happy to have it so that I can look back at them for years to come. Karen Kingsbury is a very good author.

So glad to finish this - it was absolutely awful. In the front it says the stories have been fictionalised, so you're left wondering which bits are true and which aren't, and all the men act like women! You get lines like: "They held hands and shared their grief." Not once does a woman want to talk while the man needs time to process. If you're going to write a book about people, at least make it realistic.

The book I’ve read is entitled: A Treasury of Miracles True Stories of God’s presence Today. This title is one sub chapter of the book I read, as are others such as: Miracles for Women; Miracles for Friends; Adoption Miracles, Christmas Miracles and a Bonus Section - a section regarding Karen’s life’s Miracles.

I found the book published by Guidepost to be enlightening, enchanting, spiritual and refreshingly rewarding most especially in today’s dark news world.

I really enjoyed this book. It was full of stories of God's love and protection. Some stories were shorter, some longer, but each was captivating. It was also full of hope and the perfect read for the Christmas season.
I found it very inspiring and if you are looking for a little hope at Christmas time, or want a reminder of the work God can do in the lives of people, this would be a great choice.

This book contained so many uplifting experiences where faith and prayers helped believers turn to God for rescue and miracles. It was apparent in several, that none other than devine interventions could have prevented utter tragedies from occurring. Having experienced some very close calls myself, this book gave me such peace and reassurance that miracles still do happen and God does answer prayers.

I’ve tried reading Karen Kingsbury’s books in the past and couldn’t finish them. Unfortunately this was true of this one too. It was recommended to me by a dear friend who is an avid reader. I am trying during this time of the 2020 pandemic to read more godly books, books that don’t add to stress levels. This one was a bit too predictable and sappy for me.

I love reading Karen Kingsbury’s writings! This book was different from her other books...it is a group of selected Christmas short stories she has written. The stories are all done in Kingsbury’s style, showing love for God and God’s love for us.
