Making Sense: A Guide to Sound Reasoning and Critical Thinking, 6/E

Rate this book
Making Sense guides readers through observations, exercises, reading and writing to help them think and communicate clearly and effectively. The emphasis throughout is on conscious thinking and language mastery to facilitate clearer, more responsible discussions. Readers first observe and then question what they believe they see. Then they describe what they see in objective language before moving on to language observation. Through exercises that help define premises and key words, they are encouraged to ask, “What must the writer believe in order to make this assertion?” They are taught to question other people’s words as opposed to attacking the person. Readers are guided to developing integrity in their thinking and avoiding faulty reasoning.
